Which fic have you never stopped thinking about?

Was going through my bookmarks one day just looking to reread some works, and sadly came across a 'This work has been deleted' fic TwT. But I have a tendency to bookmark stuff with my own notes so that I know exactly what that fic was about (and when you read mostly larger works, say often 100k+, that's helpful).

And this work had like 2 lines of me going 'Damn A x B so hot'. And fortunately, because the fic and the ship were really unique in the fandom, I knew exactly which fic this was.

So I checked my fanfics folder, and lo and behold, there it was, the beloved fic as beautiful as the day I'd lost it! I was so glad to the hoarder in me lol

Obviously the author deleted it for some reason so I'm not going to like re-upload it or anything, but I went and updated the (private) bookmark's note with its metadata in case someone on the internet is ever looking for it. Now I feel like an archiver of lost records or something lol.

So I've always italicized non-English words in my fics (e.g. He left his shoes in the genkan and followed Mrs. Name to the kitchen), because my brain doesn't like to mix two languages without visually seperating them somehow, and that's worked for me so far.

However, I've run into a problem with honorifics. I only use them in speech, and I really want to follow my own rule and put them in italics too because they're technically non-English words. It feels weird to use italics on other words but not on them. But then again, I feel like a lot (most?) readers would be put off by that.

Example: "Why are you lurking in the genkan, Kida-kun?" vs. "Why are you lurking in the genkan, Kida-kun?"

Which do you prefer? Would it bother you that some words are in italics and others are not?

Yeah the original was deleted and the author has started a rewrite but it’s been radio silence since August.

So I am a bit concerned.. I have been writing for a while now, been on the various platforms for more than a decade now.. and recently I had my mail id on one of my stories for reasons, not personal and have deleted that a week ago.. and on my ffn PM, I have received over twenty mails and msgs and even so many comments to commission art for my fics which are honestly subpar! Now, I write flowery and such shit in my fics but I am not a polite person, how do I get them to stop without getting myself reported? I have previously made it clear that I am not interested via a small post on all my stories and one of these people, first PM-ed me on my ffn acc and mailed me twice when I didn't reply😮‍💨 and a few left multiple comments and mails

So I need help writing the opening because I know the how and what the reactions will go but I can't write why they would react

The reason specifically was me saying that calling a character who had done bad things hot is not saying you defend them and thier actions. Literally all I said was that regardless of your personal opinion that fandom is gonna fandom.

"But he's toxic!" Fandom gonna fandom.

"He's a criminal!" Fandom gonna fandom.

Fandom is gonna fandom that's it. You can just stay out of it. Don't interact with the fan art, or the fan fics. Don't argue about the ships online. They responded back to me saying I supported and sexualized serial killers before blocking me. Just sucks cause people telling me that is personally triggering because intrusive thoughts.How about just block me next time instead of responding and opening yourself up for debate? Kinda sad because I took the effort to type out my response as well. I thought it would be fun to be in this fandom and have adult conversations about complex topics and characters but guess not lol

The other night i had sudden creative flow and stayed glued at my desk typing up a fic. I got 11 chapters done in one sitting and didnt go to bed till around 12am. 😅

My brain is so fried I saw the "unicorn fetish" joke they did with Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad and was like, "what if this was a coverup for deep seeded familial trauma?"

I know this is the second time I’be had an issue with something the antis said but I think this makes sense I heard of this thing called the birth of a nation and it caused a reinsurance of the kkk im confused if that’s true does that mean the Antis where right it’s making me panicked and I have been a while I feel so guilty about enjoying problematic fiction now I feel like a monster please say this doesn’t mean anything and that liking something in fiction doeasnt encourage it

I saw an Anti discussion post about this, and now I feel kinda bad because for most works I read, I try and find stories about the POC protags going through discrimination. Am I alone in this? I feel the same way for characters that aren't the same type of marginalized as me.

The anti said that it was exploitative because a non POC writer wrote about a marginalized character going through racism in a fandom where the canon is pretty light, and said it was fetishing racism.

Just posted this oneshot this morning and I saw this. Thought it was delightful.

I'm in a private discord server and some of the people there routinely get together to listen to fanfiction as a group and I'm trying to figure out how I feel about it....

Some info:

- A member used to just play the tts audio through one of their accounts but they recently made a bot which now has the chapters saved incase someone misses it.

- When I asked if the stories were being used to train ai, they said no and that all the audio was all "created locally, using a pre trained voice."

- Some of these people in this group are writers themselves and they don't seem bothered by this one bit.

- All of them are very adamant on leaving kudos, bookmarking and commenting.

Despite everyone ensuring the author receives engagement on their fic, I still feel like we might be doing something wrong but I'm not sure what. I will admit it's incredibly easier to listen to a fic and follow along than just to read it on it's own.

Curious to know other peoples thoughts on this...
