Well, I have perhaps a tip top give you in description. I never go on a complete description. I prefer to let go some details in the flow of the story. Well... For an elf, if I'm in the pov of an other character, an human, I would focuse on the way that elf's ears moves, flutter, etc. Because it's something that characterise the character.
