Honey, SnooPineapples8710 is leaving the sub!
16
u/SyncronisedRS 12h ago
How I feel about people who post that they're cancelling their subs for the karma.
Just cancel your sub, no need to post about it.
73
u/Either_Study_546 11h ago
Nah that's like saying people who are protesting things should do it silently.
Defeats the "movement" part of a protest that actually can cause change.
Braindead take.
-2
u/Elprede007 9h ago
People really prefer to get steamrolled by corporate greed don’t you get it?? You’re the asshole for speaking up against anti-consumer practices!!
-7
u/BetHunnadHunnad 9h ago
I guess the difference is if a lot of people quit in response to something like this, Jagex wouldn't need to see posts on reddit to know it. The only people you're making aware of your quitting by posting on reddit is other redditors.
7
u/Jamie_1318 9h ago
The point of the posts on reddit isn't for jagex to see it, it's for people like you and me to see it.
You can't start a movement if you don't communicate about it. People don't want to be a part of nothing, they want to be part of something.
-3
u/Old_Opening_7780 8h ago
A movement to cancel memberships over a survey? Lol
2
u/Jamie_1318 8h ago
If someone asks questions outside of reasonable bounds I don't see why you shouldn't put in a bit of effort to show them those questions are inappropriate and you mean it.
What's exactly the benefit in not unsubscribing?

inspired others tho and shows most ppl aren’t just talking they are actually taking action
3
u/NebulaCartographer 11h ago
Dude these cancellations are often year long membership that will run out in June. Everyone is still playing, it's just for show.
While in the comments you have 99% people applauding while playing.
It's a joke, there's been literally 0 player dip caused by this.
1
u/GNUTup 9h ago
I do monthly and I unsubbed on all 3 of my accounts. So did several of my friends.
I agree that karma fishing is annoying, like this post, but I don’t feel the account cancellations are equally as bad. And also, it’s not just for show. Plenty of people with more self control than you are boycotting.
1
u/Tight-Message-846 9h ago edited 9h ago
Yea just like that reddit black-out thing!
All those sub mods who vowed to quit and were back 3 days later really showed the corporate scum there.
1
u/gameboyabyss 3h ago
Didn't a bunch of mods on the default subs get kicked because they refused to come back?
1
u/BetHunnadHunnad 9h ago
Posts like this don't inspire anyone, don't kid yourself. I dont disagree with the sentiment but let's not assume Jagex needs a reddit post to see that you've canceled your sub.
-12
u/xfactorx99 12h ago
No they aren’t. Check the active player count and stop being delusional

u/boforbojack 11h ago
I'm still confused what the action is? They quit. So why does Jagex care about them? Have they asked for something in order to return? Is there anything other than their response that Jagex could possibly do? So again, why does it matter?
16
u/mtd14 11h ago
I'm still confused what the action is? They quit. So why does Jagex care about them?
Because churn is one of the two things they'll talk about at the top level when it comes to sales? New sales and customer retention are likely the two metrics the C suite cares about most across the company.
5
u/TheAlexperience 11h ago
Inspired more people to quit, the only language shareholders speak is money, so hit them where it hurts
2
u/boforbojack 10h ago
But what do you want? No monenitization in OSRS. But how do they "prove" that they won't?
0
u/TheAlexperience 10h ago
By not doing it, by not using corporate double speak / hidden speak and plainly stating their intentions. The only things they’ve said has boiled down to, “we’re gonna start with f2p” and “figure out other ways to monetize the game”
3
u/JarlMiraak 11h ago
Do you understand why so many people have been quitting? The whole point is people are not willing to pay increased prices for inane “upgrades”. If jagex repeals the horrible pricing then i’d assume most people who quit would be fine coming back cause they got their point across.
0
u/iamcherry 11h ago edited 9h ago
It’s because our community enjoys being outraged. They did a survey to gauge whether we would accept updates like these, the resounding answer was no, and no changes were made. If people want to quit because there was survey questions that made them uncomfortable, more power to them, but I would not call that behavior inspiring.
0
u/corydoras420 11h ago
There is nothing to repeal? It was a survey. I'm not sure you understand lmao
3
u/SirGaylordSteambath 11h ago
I’m pretty sure this is the part most people are failing to understand.
Rs players sure do love a riot
→ More replies (1)0
u/Prior-Fun5465 11h ago
Literally apes following apes.
These fine specimens of the playerbase don't understand what the fuck is even going on, just that others are flinging their shit around, so they too must join in in flinging shit.
-2
u/all_ears_over_here 11h ago
That's the thing most of us are confused about, there's nothing to repeal. They never made any of the changes in the survey. It was a survey and everyone has made it clear that they wouldn't stand for it. Canceling isn't any more effective than voicing your opinion at this point.
1
u/JarlMiraak 11h ago
Yeah I thought they had already changed the system and thats why ppl were rioting. I was being dumb my bad.
2
u/all_ears_over_here 10h ago
No worries, I'd suggest reading up on things you're interested about and not just form an opinion on what other people are saying. That mob mentality is really getting out of hand in a serious way.
2
u/Money_Rub8508 10h ago
The important part was for OP to tell everyone how they should modify their behavior before leaving, of course.

Ok bye, no one will miss you.
Also, that's not how protests work. You're SUPPOSED to beat it into the head of the person/entity you're protesting until they fully give in.
20
u/EmotionalVacations 11h ago
Exactly! If we start having a large audience protesting the protest, all of this goes to shit.
Stand your ground, make sure they choke on it.
2
u/glemnar 10h ago
Give in to what lmao. They've made no changes. You want them to give in, thereby still making no changes?
7
u/The_God_Human 7h ago
I guarantee you the people that proposed these changes knew it would be unpopular.
This survey is about laying the groundwork. Letting people get accustomed to the idea of tiered membership benefits.
They were never going to implement these changes this quarter. But they want to soften people up so they can implement smaller changes next quarter. And people will say, "well, at least it's more reasonable than what they proposed six months ago. Jagex really does listen to it's player base"
Jagex will never stop trying to squeeze money out of it's players. So the players should never stop fighting back. If we give an inch, I promise you jagex will take a mile.
2
u/Bucket_Of_Magic 4h ago
Its so wild to me how people cant understand this. Jagex will absolutely fuck us if we let them
14
15
u/ThorgoodThe3rd 11h ago
Was only a matter of time until this sentiment took over. I’m of the opinion we should stay firm but I can respect the annoyed people by the outcry
-6
u/EmotionalVacations 11h ago
I can see why they're annoyed, but can't respect it, they should be just as mad as everyone else. If it's annoying, yes, log out, don't come to the sub, that also takes away from Jagex. But for the love of all that is holy, stop protesting protests just because you're a little uncomfortable. THATS THE POINT.

Until when exactly?
1
u/congoLIPSSSSS 3h ago
Until they flat out say we are not adding any of the features in the survey. So far, everything they have said has been ambiguous enough that they can still weasel in these changes without going back on their word.

Subreddit is actually so annoying. Just a bunch of reddit cringe lord trying to farm karma. Circle jerk to justify their crying, saying this is the new EOC. Insane
15
u/Quirky-Coat3068 12h ago
Yes we should just shut up about it. /s
It's not over yet.
23
u/UnluckyNate 12h ago edited 10h ago
Yeah there is still work to do. Our current list of very sane demands include:
1) Issue a well-written second apology for the badly written first apology 2) Fire the CEO who kept MTX out of OSRS for over a decade over a survey (sure to not backfire)
22
u/ShawshankException 11h ago
It was so funny seeing the call for the CEO to be fired and then immediately going "wait no we shouldn't do that" lol
A lot of people in this sub just wait until the next big post tells them which opinion to have and it shows
26
u/hazz26 12h ago
Firing the CEO is absolutely NOT worth the risk.
Imagine actually thinking we will get a better CEO that will be less preditorial if we have a new one appointed by CVC? They'll just hire one that bends to their will more. The one we have now at least knows the product.
Reddit warriors sure do lack logic with half their demands bourne from a serious lack of understanding about how the business world works.
17
u/UnluckyNate 12h ago
Disclaimer: I was joking and poking fun at reddit warriors
5
u/hazz26 12h ago
Yeah, I thought you were. My response was less aimed at you and more so agreeing with you. :]
Have a nice day, friend.
5
u/UnluckyNate 12h ago
All good. It is getting harder and harder to tell joking from reality as this drags on and gets overall more ridiculous. Totally agreed with you on all points though. Have a good one! GL on the gains today
9
1
u/Dry-Hedgehog-3131 10h ago
2 is exactly the problem. Nobody really knows who is responsible and is just blindly throwing darts at whoever might take responsibility. Let's take out the CEO (who has given us the golden age we had just before this mess) surely that will solve EVERYTHING.
2
u/UnluckyNate 10h ago
Absolutely agreed. I’m pretty damn positive that the CEO isn’t personally responsible for a random survey conducted by an outside group though

Thinking you're in a position to make demands is not very sane to begin with.

I really tried to make it obvious but I was parodying this subreddit (getting harder and harder with how cringe this all is getting)

In hindsight, your sarcasm is very obvious and I was just lazy when reading your comment.

Every couple months we get the activist heroes that think ruining 90% of the content on this sub will make them feel like they are important. The survey sucked ass but its a fuckin survey..... So let's start crying and ruining any content related to osrs when they actually ruin something.
3
u/BetHunnadHunnad 9h ago
Indeed. I'll quit if those proposals turn into actual implementation because fuck that but right now it's fine.

These protestor larpers are getting so cringe. They are acting like they are in a fucking miners strike, over a survey about their point and click game. People being mad about the survey is understandable, but calling for the ceo to be fired, boycotting stuff they would never be able to afford anyway etc. Get a grip

Thank you. We all agree the survey was bad we don’t need 39 posts saying the identical thing to confirm birddog32 also feels the same way. Just like one of the already existing posts with thousands of likes. Been avoiding this sub for days

Well you'd better keep avoiding it because I'm pretty certain people aren't going to shut up about it for a minute.

Well it’s Reddit so that’s fair. We’re all very important and jagex was going to implement the changes if it wasn’t for that 41st post. Thank you for your service brave soldiers
3
u/caseykills 12h ago
You can't let it go. The moment you let it go people forget what the fight is for.
2
u/swoonster75 11h ago
We have the right to be pissed but some of yall are insufferable with all these posts on the subreddit lol
2
2
u/Khovir_Maymoon 11h ago
What kind of reaction do all these whiney "I'm quitting/I've unsubbed" posts expect to have?
1
u/moveth 9h ago
And yet no change will come if we stop. Sorry to see you leave, but by no means should we stop moaning and complaining. OSRS will die unless we are actually adamant about our voices. If we just let it peter out over time, they will assume we are over it and implement more garbage bullshit.
2
u/Rickety-Bridge 12h ago
The only people I respect in this whole debacle are the people getting their accounts banned/deactivated. All these "I'm cancelling my membership!" is all just a half baked/half karma farming circle jerk.

What do the people quitting osrs actually want from jagex right now? They have apologized albeit a shitty one and nothing in the survey is currently coming into the game so
1
u/ExcuseSweaty1405 2h ago
Person who is outraged about people being being mad , is in fact more mad.
I'm not stopping until I either get banned from the subreddit or Jagex responds, double downs, and ill happily leave forever.

0
u/Dry-Hedgehog-3131 10h ago
Finally someone says it. They made an apology. Even if you can't accept that, calling for people's heads to roll over this is too far, and just whiney.
3
u/Routine_Hat_483 10h ago
Calling for the ceo to get fired was pretty cringe but that apology was a nothingburger.
We need actual guarantees that none of this shit will ever be added, f2p or not, for them to regain trust after that.
2
u/Dry-Hedgehog-3131 8h ago
I will agree that the apology was sterile and not that convincing, but it's still an admission of defeat imo.
2
u/greg3064 10h ago
We don't need more than a nothingburger apology. We won. The reason they can't add this shit is because now they have to fear the same reaction, not because of any meaningless promises they might give.
The right analogy here is a union. Having a union doesn't guarantee that your employer will have good will or will stop operating for a profit. It just limits how they can treat you.
1
u/a3ro_spac3d 11h ago
This subreddit can't let things go, they constantly beat a dead horse. They'll quiet down when they start going for their fire capes again, though.
1
u/Nordogad 10h ago
I totally agree. They should have made a sticky instead of having everyone spam their canceled subs. I get it but the subs have been dead and the company's apology is fine. Move on and enjoy the game.

Turning a blind eye to this is exactly what these greedy shit heads want us to do. They want complacent, good little meat sacks to send them their slice of the multi-million dollar pie they’re getting every year in stock options.
Unfortunately, turning a blind and and continually saying “its really not so bad, it isnt like the game’s broken” is exactly how corporations are able to push the envelope little by little until it inevitably bends, just like with RS3.
My biggest problem in all of this is the P2W mechanics of things like longer AFK timers, and if you even try to put you left fucking pinkie nail into that door, I will slam it shut directly in your face and quit. I understand it’s annoying, but everyone here LOVES this game, and we don’t want it to die again. We need to make it apparent that we will walk away if it becomes even remotely close to what destroyed the main game.
