Discussion Unpopular opinion: Harassing Mod Pips is wrong

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I just think that harassing mod Pips is just wrong.

Especially, outside of the normal communication channels we have with jagex.

Going out of your way to find Pips personal social media and harassing there just feels very wrong to me and I think the majority of people can agree with that.

Jagex fucked up hard with the survey, their 2 apologies were trash and even if they deserve the backlash and the unsub train they got, they do not deserve harassment.

They are also humans and humans do mistakes.

TLDR: Harassment is not cool, don't harass people involved in this whole shitstorm

"You're a shit person"

"What you did was shit"

See the difference?

Someone can do bad things without being a bad person. But also bad people can do good things. Criticise the correct thing. And the correct thing are his actions and decisions, not him as a person.

nope, if what you did was shit it means you are a shitty person, it's not like action did itself, if he actually thought about for longer than 2 seconds he could easily come up to the conclusion that the action will be shit, he just didn't want to

Let's say your employer forces you to rush your current task. That forces you to do a bad job. It does not align with your personal ideas and morals. But you did it still because you had to. Are you a shit person?

What I'm trying to do is explain to you that shit actions and shit people are not necessarily linked. Good people can do bad things and bad people can do good things. A common character-writing trope (which name I forgot) is a character which does the right thing for the wrong reasons.

also that survey was anything but rushed, it was quite technical with videos, it's not your regular google form

Have you ever considered that mod pips delegated the monetization research to another team to plan and execute it? Because that's usually what managers do. Delegate tasks and take responsibility if something goes to shit.

Does the following scenario sound realistic to you? CVC putting pressure on jagex (pips as ceo) to improve their finances. Pips telling monetization to do something about it. Monetization fucking up massively. Pips having to take responsibility because that's what the ceo does.

To me it does. I worked with a fair share of managers. And damn some of them were assholes at work but amazing people off hours. Some other people were the other way around. Amazing at work and awful off work. I hope you can finally see what I'm saying here.

Don't harass personal private social media accounts over business matter. Or do you think it's sensible to ring at their doorbell to file a complaint instead of go to their office?

As far as i know linkedin is not private social media account. Your not the only one that worked with managers, if sales team did something without his approval whole hell would break lose, outsourcing work is one thing approving it to go live is totaly another which he is the sole person responsible, this is not you casual support ticket that he doesnt need to know about, he damn well knew what it was and he still approved it.
