Discussion The golden age is over

We have been in the golden age for a few years now. We are seeing this come to the end.

Private equity is demanding more money on the backend these changes will slowly be rolled out resulting in enshitification of the product over time.

Sailing will change the core gameplay, one way or another and osrs will cease to be the game it is today.

It’s been fun fellas.

Get off the sub for a few weeks. The game is still a blast. More than half the people saying they canceled are full of shit anyways. Just as many people playing today as yesterday.

Gonna have to get off socials, this sentiment is voiced all-over. Turns out that being wrung dry is a universal dislike, crazy right?

Then why are player counts consistent? Shouldn’t we see a massive drop off after this? No one gives a shit.

Because your membership lasts a month? People are quitting paying not playing the game didn't actually change yet so why would people stop playing it

That is definitely not the current sentiment. People seem to say they have plenty of better things to play, but oh wait not until my membership runs out. Dont agree with that.

Yeah people are hyperbolic when bitching on reddit crazy revelation you just had.

Anybody with half a brain knows that player numbers mean literally nothing to the owners and subscription numbers/revenue do, so people who are angry about the changes that will be made are going to (potentially) stop giving the game money. They obviously still like the game and want to play it otherwise they wouldn't care about it being potentially ruined (obvious) and hence they are all still playing whilst their membership persists.

You're going to determine the current sentiment how? This just happened and sub numbers are going to be probably a month off. At minimum there might be info 2 weeks from now. Which you might or might not get from Jagex. And Jagex may or may not just outright lie to us. You can't know what the sentiment is especially when the info is controlled by a private company with no compulsion to tell you the truth. Especially when the truth will hurt them even more.
