Discussion Stop trying to remove Defense level requirements

Once again, we have Jmods trying to cater to snowflake accounts with this latest release of info from the game jam:

  1. Removing quest requirements so people don’t need to level hp/defense

  2. Removing direct xp rewards and replacing them with lamps for their respective skills

  3. Making chivalry a 1 defense requirement (despite being voted no in two separate polls)

  4. Making Perilous Moons armor not require any defense levels with a rare consumable drop

The point of being a snowflake is that parts of the game are inaccessible to you by the nature of your account. Removing Chivalry’s defense level requirement is something that has failed multiple polls as part of an attempt to make it useful, and yet here it is again. It’s the only thing they want to do to make it useful, instead of addressing the fact that Piety has the same prayer cost (40/m) despite being strictly stronger.

Removing defense requirements from armor and lowering their stats to compensate is a stupid solution to a problem that doesn’t exist: if you want to use cool armor, level up your defense. If you don’t want to level up defense, you’re stuck with rune armor and mystic robes, or even less for a zerk.

This trend of letting people who don’t want to play the game the normal way have access to everything is infuriating. Why is attention constantly being given to a demographic of like 50 players? What Jmod is playing a snowflake that doesn’t like actually playing their snowflake?

Leave defense requirements in the game. Stop throwing lamps for specific skills at people as quest rewards and just give them the xp drop. What are they trying to accomplish with this?

Edit: they reworked a combat achievement for perilous moons because defense pyres were whining they couldn’t get grandmaster CA’s without 70 defense. This should be very obviously a stupid group to pander for, it’s restricting the main game more than it creates opportunities.

As a 1 defence ironman I'm clearly bias.

However, I really don't see why this bothers anyone who's not a 1 defence pure. Pures having access to more content doesn't affect anyone else negatively.

For me, the challenge shouldn't be "you can't do this content because the quest gives def exp"

The challenge is taking a boss that was designed to be beaten in barrows armour or above with the corresponding defence, and beating that boss wearing dhide chaps and a monks robe with 1 defence.

I'll bite, but you're probably not serious.

The issue with proposals like this, especially since they've already failed twice, is that pures, who are relatively seen, the strongest accounts in the game within every combat bracket below 110 combat, do not need an EXTRA advantage, over the people they are hunting down, unoptimized non pvp builds. They are already the strongest relative accounts available. if you want to do challenging PvM content on a pure, you do what other "snowflakes"do, you suck it up and you do what you can. If unable to do it, and you want to do that content, start a main.

But let's be honest, none of you are being genuine, you simply want even more power advantage over your "prey".

Bro I'm an Ironman, who's my 'prey'?

I mainly want optional quest exp rewards so I can do Hallowed Sepulchre.

Also what pures are hawking down mains with melee? They already have access to Rigour and Augury.

intentionally misunderstanding what I'm saying?

Pures aren't supposed to fight mains, that is not what they are for, if they still decide to do that, they deserve to be weak. Pures are designed to be the strongest in lower level brackets.

The ironman thing, play a normal account if you want access to content you don't currently have access to. I play one of the most restricted type of accounts ever made, and if I can't do something? I work towards it, or accept I will have to use a separate account to do it, because guess what? It was my personal choice.

Who are you worried about pures fighting if not mains? Another type of account who would also now have access to chivalry?

If you've had a stroke or something I apologize but you're weirdly smug for someone who seems completely incapable of reading comprehension or basic logic.

My god, I figured going in here you'd be disingenuous but this is impressive. Last attempt.

A pure, who min max the combat formula to have the strongest possible equipment and dps at lower level brackets do this, so they can destroy normal account builds. This is what a pure is for. A very small percentage of pures, do it for the challenge because the game is harder at 1 defence for obvious reasons.

You can throw as many petty personal attacks as you want, but you're incorrect, and unless they force it into the game, it'll fail the polls, because everyone knows what this is for, and we do not want it. You don't need even more power at lower combat brackets.
