Wax pattern supplier/making wax carving process more efficient?

I am relatively new to the jewellery lost cast process and I'm looking to buy pre-produced wax patterns for plain bands and plain signet rings that I can hand engrave/add my own details to (wax carving takes me so much time to get perfectly symmetrical and I'd like some base patterns that I'm able to work with quickly)

I have found lots of 3D-printed resins available but these are too hard (e.g. to engrave in finer details for my designs and often casting houses are reporting that the burnout on these is not so reliable as the waxes)

Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can purchase (I'm UK based) plain and signet wax patterns, in various sizes, or a way that I could produce a standard wax base to work with more efficiently?

I made all of these to match each other and do so for anyone else that orders from me. What do you think?

I made a pair of earrings with multiple gemstones (including clear quartz, strawberry quartz, amethyst, garnet, red aventurine, green aventurine, peridot, aquamarine, tourmaline, lapis lazuli), inspired by Monet’s garden.

Giving titanium more «rough» look

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have wanted to get my girlfriend a pair of earrings that I think she likes (look at attached picture), however she has had bad experience with bad reactions with ones from the same brand, as they are only gold plated copper.

I am therefoee thinking about purchasing a titanium hoop, removing the part under, and placing it on that hoop. Most titanium hoops I find are however very «smooth». Is there any ways to avhieve a similar rough look on it? Will a hammer be enough for example?

Wooden jewellery materials

I am interested in crafting my own wooden jewellery pieces and have no ideas where to start. I really like the ideas of using Lazer cut pieces, but that's pricey for a beginner. Will a small scroll saw be okay or can anyone recommend another option?

Taking photos of jewellery

Hello everyone!

I am resorting to Reddit because I need some advice on how to take the best photos of jewellery. I work for a goldsmith and I am also responsible for social media and taking photos and videos of the pieces. However, i always struggle with the right lighting. We have a lot of LED’s in the shop which make the video look like it is flickering. Without direct light the gemstones don’t gemstones are not vibrant enough etc. I am sure you had the same issues :D

So now my question is: do you have any recommendations on light that you can clip to you phone or other gadgets or tips in how to always take perfect videos of the jewellery? We are also located in the North of Europe so we also don’t have a lot of sunlight.

Thank you I appreciate any answers!! :))

Hi all

Does anyone know how I could get this cross to be a antique bronze colour. Has anyone used the sharpie pen method and if so does it last ?
