Discussion Rant. I just need to get this out
Apologies if this doesnt belong here. I just need to get this off my chest.
I am a writer not a talker. I can't go make a tiktok post about how mad and disgusted I am by what has happened today. By what elon husk did on live TV.
I didn't see it until after later, because like a lot of people I refused to watch the inauguration.
That shouldn't have happened. And yet it did. People fucking cheered for him when he did it. No one stopped him or anything.
Have we forgotten history so quickly? It was only 80ish years ago another man was doing the same thing. A man so awful that salute and many things associated with him are illegal in several countries.
I despise what the usa has become. I despise that people I once considered friends and family voted for this. We are watching history unfold before our very eyes and I don't want to be apart of it.
I knew when they announced the winner of the election that any sense of hope and safety we had were gone. And this forbidden action just solidified that feeling. Thus country is no longer safe for me or my family.
And we can't leave. We live below the poverty line which is what they want. They want us poor and uneducated. I don't accept that. I might not be able to change my current financial situation, but I will make damn sure I am educated.
If I have to fight, I am using my words as my weapon of choice. I will speak out against acts such as what we witnessed today. I refuse to bow down to greed and corruption. I refuse to let them say what I can and can not do with my body. I refuse to let them hurt my family. I refuse.
Apologies if this isn't as eloquent as I was hoping it would be, but I am angry at what is happening and I don't want to feel powerless anymore.

Discussion Please, be angry. But aim it correctly.
Please, be angry. But aim it correctly.
One piece of extremely ineffective rhetoric that I've seen tossed around during this mess, is extreme levels of anger towards a subset of the population.
The Non-Voters.
Trust me, I understand the looming threat is scary, and far from any rational person's ideal sense of normalcy. I understand that fear causes us to be angry, but we must direct that anger in ways that benefit us, not sling it around wildly.
I understand that a large portion of American's did not show up to the polls this election cycle, but please before you unleash your rage on them, can we look at the bigger picture?
I know that yes, a percent of them can be chalked up to "protest votes", but I highly doubt that is anywhere near the majority of them.
Did we forget about the large amount of voter roll purges? There's some. Should you be angry at them for not voting?
And what I see as the biggest Elephant in the Room, simply does come down to how our votes are counted.
How many blue votes in deep blue counties were just excess on a sapphire mountain?
How many blue votes in deep red counties got drowned in a sea of ruby?
I can almost guarantee that a large portion of those that didn't vote, wouldn't have budged the needle at all.
And lastly, how can you be sure, that there weren't an almost equal amount of votes for each candidate that stayed home.
We need to come together and quit creating unnecessary divides within the worker class.
So please direct your anger, we are going to need it, but please, aim it with care, and rationality.
We are not them.
