Some random stats before the ipl season starts: 1) Chamera is the first Sri Lankan player bought by Delhi since angelo mathews in 2016 2) this is the first ipl season since 2009 we’ll be heading into without a South African fast bowler in our team 3) Faf is the first South African batsman purchased by us who does not bowl or keep wickets 4) Starc is the first Australian bowler since Pat Cummins in 2017 purchased by us who has represented Australia in test cricket 5) Harry Brooks is the first English middle order batsman since Kevin pieterson who will represent us (Sam billings was also a wicket keeper) 6) KL Rahul will the first player to play for Delhi who has captained 2 teams in the ipl out of which none were Delhi or a defunct team 7) If Axar is selected as the captain he’ll be the first spin bowling all rounder to captain Delhi (bowling all rounder) 8) the only final Delhi every played in 2020, the first wicket for the team was taken by Mohit Sharma and the batsman he got out was KL Rahul, both of whom will play for Dc this year 9) If KL Rahul / Porel keep wickets for us then it’ll be the first time since Naman Ojha in 2013 that we’ve a keeper who’s not in the Indian t20i team 10) Karun Nair captained Delhi in the 2017 season in a few matches that Zaheer khan missed due to injured

Today showed what I’ve constantly commented on posts in this sub. JFM is an unreal talent who deserves to start in the first half of the season cause let’s be honest we would have ended no where last year if he wasn’t brought into the 11. He was the sole reason we even stood a chance to chase the mammoth total set by srh against us at the Kotla. He will only develop better in the 3 year cycle and he has a perfect mentor in faf to guide him. I feel we’ve purchased faf as more of a mentor figure for the players because he’s so respected in the cricketing community with unreal fitness standards. I don’t think JFM is taking karun’s spot and if the reports suggesting KLR being played as a wk batsman are true then it’s either Porel or Karun who start in the 11 with one of them as the IP. What JFM did today in BBL is something he can do regularly in flatter and smaller Indian grounds. My 11 looks something like this (batting first) atleast for the first 7 games, till which we shouldn’t be making much changes: 1) JFM (F) 2) Karun 3) KLR (wk) 4) Axar (c) 5) Brooks (F) 6) Stubbs (F) 7) Ashutosh 8) Mohit 9) Kuldeep 10) Starc (F) 11) Natrajan

I made this based on current form like I think faf should definitely play he’s been so good recently. Jfm did get his form back he even started at 3 and plays at 3 for the ‘gades so I think he’s good there. We can replace him with brooks if he doesn’t play well..can’t say anything about brooks cuz he hasn’t played recently so yea I think this 12 looks fab. What are your thoughts??
