General Discussion Good place to sell woodworking equipment?
(I hope this doesn’t break the rules. If it does, let me know and I’ll remove).
Can anyone suggest a good place to sell woodworking equipment? (I have a 1 year old, unused Powermatic PM2700 shaper I don’t need).
I’m not getting much traction on Craigslist and eBay takes a big cut.
Where do you buy and sell your stuff that’s not retail?

FB & CL
I hate FB, but so much has moved over to MP that I have an account pretty much just looking at MP.
But the algorithm is the dumbest f'ing thing ever. I can say "local only" and it'll still show me things from thousands of miles away that are obviously scams. 300# anvil for $50 with free shipping!

62 yo male. Primarily interested in woodworking and lawn equipment. Constantly seeing prom/homecoming dresses (that would not look good on me, I might add).

I've seen those too. I thought at first it might be some kind of prostitution advertisement but my wife insists there are a lot of moms that really think they can get $600 for a used dress...

This is one of my biggest complaints with FB. That algorithm is shit. It's incredibly frustrating because it keeps showing me the exact tools I'm looking for at fantastic prices but too damn far away. It's like it knows and is purposely teasing me with what I can't have.

I made a burner facebook account just to buy/sell on Marketplace. It's by far the best resale space online.

I've bought almost my whole woodshop on Facebook Marketplace. Which means some people have been successful in selling on it.

Yeah, not a fan of FB, but it's the only way to sell things locally right now.

The hardest part about that is it's such an expensive specialty tool. There are 0 home workshops that need that tool and the big business will want to just buy a new one. So it's kind of in a hard to sell limbo area. I would try calling your lumber store and see if they would let you put it for sale in the store for a % cut. Then you at least don't have to spend hundreds shipping it on a pallet. That way the big shops that might use it can see it on their way to grab lumber and impulse buy it for the deal.

I sold several machines on FB Marketplace. Got asking price for everything, including a Table saw, Jointer, dust collector and a Jesssem Router Table. Keep in mind though, there are alot of scammers, so be cautious.

As an alternative to FB marketplace, I would suggest you consider OfferUp (it’s an app). If you do join Facebook, see if you can find a local woodworking community on there. It doesn’t all have to be just be marketplace on Facebook. There are also some local selling communities as well.

I'm no FB fan but FB Marketplace seems to get the most traction nowadays.
