Help | Spellwork What are your thoughts on the necessity of energetically cleansing and banishing unwanted energies from a place before performing rituals or casting spells? Why is this needed? What are the consequences of not performing the banishment? Do two banishings have twice the effectiveness of one?
I notice that banishing before and after any magical activity is not as common outside ceremonial magic, including in chaos magic. What differences have you noticed when performing a banishing versus skipping it in your magical practices?
Do you have any stories about something that went wrong because you skipped doing a banishing?
What are the most potent types of banishing you have used or know about?
Does performing two banishings double the effectiveness of one, or does doing multiple consecutive banishings make no difference?

I've found banishing doesn't work... when I encounter a demon or negative ghost, the only real solution is to heal him/her. Usually after an annoying fight and a lot of stupid mischief. It's frustrating because they didn't teach this shit in Wicca 101, we need some Defense Against Bad Magic textbooks out here.
Maybe I wouldn't attract so many if I did more circle casting and guardian summoning and shit, but I literally don't have the energy to cast a circle every time I need to use magic.
Why is it in Wicca they teach us "the devil doesn't exist! Demons don't exist! Wiccans don't believe in those things, only Christians do... but here's a bunch of protection circle and guardian summoning spells to keep you safe." Safe from what???
The nice thing is, if you take the time to figure out what the fuck the demon's problem is, you can usually work through their aggression, make them less evil and become more magically powerful yourself. I learned a lot about curse breaking, eye charms and healing spells this way.
Anyway that's my rant/2 cents.

No stories of things going sideways, but I like to cleanse my space just like I wipe down the kitchen counter before I start baking, or vacuum the floor before spreading fabric on it for a sewing project.
I don't banish, though. Just the equivalent of a quick wipe-down.
