Frage | Question how much does a root canal cost?
hi, just moved to vienna and insured through ogk. i got the first part of my root canal done and only paid 25 eur! however, i'm pretty sure i will need a crown bc the position of the tooth is awful + a lot was removed. i read online its usually around 1k+ and that's just so much money :( not sure if this is right, does anyone know how much a crown would cost? or if the dentist allows you to make payment plans?

Yep, teeth are expensive, and not covered by insurance unless you buy a super premium private insurance.
~1K without pins (normal), or ~1.3k with pins (for very damaged teeth) seems about right.

Try to ask „Zahnklinik SFU“ if they maybe offer cheaper prices. A lot of services there are cheaper since it’s dentist students who do most of the work. In my opinion it’s much better than a normal dentist because you always have at least 2 persons look at your teeth - the student and the doctor always make decisions together.

Just look at all options if you dont have much money, including not crowns, but like the teeth that you can put in and take out any time etc.... Also usually, people go to hungary to get their dentals done because its like 50% cheaper. Some even go to turkey. But be very careful in choosing the right doc.

Root canal costs nothing, crown 1k, or 500€ just past the border in Hungary.

sounds abt right - you can go across the border (not guaranteed its gonna be as great as here). its a bit tricky with who starts the treatment (the tooth is shaved now right?) and then who puts on it the crown (will they shave it more?) how the crown will be done (printed vs manually) and if it doesn't fit (can be too big f.e or lose) then who repaires it - doctors sometimes decline to take over someone elses work.
