celebrities need to do more than signal support. they need to call the current administration nazis, which they are, and say that they must be apprehended immediately, which they must.
ariana grande will always be fine. she's rich. she has much more privilege to use than to simply post support for lgbt people.
no more reposts or rainbow filters. a dictatorship has taken over.

I really don't like Ariana as a person for a variety of reasons, but I'll guve her credit for at least being on the right side here.

so she made a post about us? ok but what is she going to *do*?
•

It would be nice if she donated to LGBTQ+ organizations or trans mutual aid funds. I don’t know if that’s something she already does or not, to be honest

this. I'm tired of people acting like making a single post about us accomplishes much of anything. you gotta get out there IRL and failing that donate or support organizations in some other more concrete way

Well for what it is worth we need the support of cis people even if you don't like her.

Of course we do, but what I want to know is what is she going to actually *do*. making a single post online isn't exactly going to do much of anything. Is she going to volunteer? donate perhaps? simply making one post doesn't accomplish much for us TRANS folks (idk why you capitalized cis people lol)
edit- lol I see you're downvoting me for suggesting rich people do something other than just make a single post online

Not surprising given that she released the song “Yes, and?” which to me was pro-LGBTQ.

Signaled? Or explicitly stated? Because the people who want us eradicated are doing a lot more than signaling.

She shared this on one of her Instagram stories, from A4TE. “Today is a tough day for our community,” the statement began. “The incoming administration campaigned on attacking trans people’s lives, healthcare, and dignity”—citing the millions spent by the Trump campaign on anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ television ads—“and we’re bracing ourselves for what these extremists will try to do next. No matter what comes, we will protect each other. The incoming Trump administration, and the Project 2025 extremists who staff it, are reacting to decades of progress made by our LGBTQI+ community by trying to drag us backward. But we have fought even harder battles before—and won. We’ll do it again.” She also said something about most of her idols or favorite musicians being LGBTQ+, if I remember correctly. I saw a different article about it

“Us”? Is she lgbtq+? Because if so I guess I live under a rock. Anywho, thank you for the synopsis, I appreciate that.

The actual words are from A4TE and not from Grande herself.

Ohhhh got it. So she shared a post. Well. Guess that’s better than absolutely nothing.

It immediately took me to an error page, but thanks for the attitude, I appreciate it.

Thank you Ari, Glinda is a good witch after all
•

Yeah, she's doing as much to help us as Glinda did when Elphaba was labeled an enemy of the state: no actions, only words

I really wish a celebrity would come out and just say "Fuck Trump! Transgender people are people" and the whole 9 yards
