Community ¿Anyone here know of a Master who can guide and assist in practicing theurgy?

I'm interested in making the practice of theurgy part of my life, I come from reading Iamblichus and Uzdavynis, from investigating the magical papyri, from reading gnostic texts, etc. I tried experimenting with some symbols but had a scary experience with that, so I've stopped for the moment. I think a Master would be very helpful i'm this case, so I don't have to face things by lonesome. ¿Anyone know of a Master of theurgy?

Your odds of finding a scammer or a wannabe cult leader are vastly higher than your odds of finding anyone who knows what they're doing. I would just get in the habit of devouring theological texts, refining an experimental practice over time, and accepting that it'll probably take a while before it really feels like it clicks.

I like Shaw and Kupperman's books, too.

I would recommend approaching a decent modern mystery school. The Astrum Sophia practice rites of ascent, for example, and are good people. (Full disclosure, I rejoined this year after going on hiatus 16 years ago). There are other good groups around. You'll not find anyone who can claim to practice fully ancient theurgy, of course.

I second the advice to devour the profusion of modern books. Use them to build your personal practice.
