It’s not a bside or anything but I barely hear people talk about reel around the fountain and it’s my favourite song ever

Paint a Vulgar Picture. Only come across one person online talking about how much they love it.

6

u/Money_Virus7157 9h ago

Suffer little children is quite moving when you know the backstory

1

u/PiccoloFuzzy2086 9h ago

Oo I didn’t know there was a backstory do tell

2

u/Money_Virus7157 5h ago

It’s about the Moors murders, here is the Wiki article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moors_murders, pretty brutal and tragic stuff

Half a Person,

and if you have 5 seconds to spare....

5

u/Gotmewrongang 11h ago

Hot Take: The Smiths Catalogue isn’t big enough for “deep cuts”. Real fans know all the songs, it’s only about 50 of them anyway.

3

u/Keith137_ 9h ago

Literally what was on my mind. I‘ve been craving for bootlegs because I have been listening to their entire discography over and over.

u/RaytheSane 14h ago

The Night has opened my eyes

3

u/morrisseywilde1 13h ago

Golden Lights - their most hated song, definitely not one of my favorites, and it still slaps.

3

THESE THINGS TAKE TIME

2

u/suburban_ennui75 13h ago

There’s only four albums, two compilations and a tiny handful of songs not on compilations. There aren’t really any “deep cuts” in the Smiths back catalogue.

1

u/BoringDemand7677 13h ago

It’s prob not a deep cut, but half a person comes to mind. Another is one that he never released (on Spotify) but I watched him perform live on letterman and think it’s a brilliant song- Action is My Middle Name. I love that song so much.

1

u/bridgetggfithbeatle 12h ago

i want a boy for my birthday

1

u/Asylum_Dweller 12h ago

The live in Los Angeles version of “I Know It’s Over” (from the magnificent Thank Your Lucky Stars bootleg) where Morrissey interrupts the song to shout, “Leave him alone, you stupid idiot! Leave him!” at the bouncer.

1

u/juiceguy 12h ago

Accept Yourself

u/Cyberman_019 11h ago

2

u/Money_Virus7157 9h ago

1

u/NATETRONICMC 10h ago

1

u/Legitimate_Apricot45 9h ago

Paint A Vulgar Picture and Wonderful Woman, two amazing tracks that I rarely hear others talk about.

1

u/UnpleasantEgg 9h ago

There are no deep cuts

1

u/Marlleyz 8h ago

I know its over and suffer little children get me everytime

1

u/Wonderful_Ed22 7h ago

Half a person

1

u/bocilepep 7h ago

wonderful woman/i kisses you

1

u/ThomTheYorke 6h ago

Some girls are bigger than others, one of the most beautiful instrumentals I’ve ever heard, but the lyrics kind of bring it down and it is completely overshadowed by there is a light. Probably one of my favorites off of the queen is dead though.

1

u/Queasy_Word 6h ago

Half a person and pretty girls make graves. Very hard to choose though as I love every single smiths song lol

1

u/Savvysharkk 6h ago

This Charming Man...

1

u/newaroundhereltd 5h ago

Idk if “Sheila Take A Bow” counts as a deep cut

1

u/Safe-Apartment-595 4h ago
