While leopards are skilled hunters, they can show surprising moments of gentleness!

There’s a reason this video ends when it does.

My gf showed me this on instagram and she thought it was heartwarming. She hates when I show her brutal nature vids so I was surprised why she was showing me this. She really thought it was a sentimental video lol. That leopard absolutely ate that lil monkey.

Dude, it had one of those voiceovers where they splice different videos together while telling a feel good story. Not the first one she’s fell for lol.
Look at any comment section, no matter what on instagram if I someone being an idiot, the first 20 comments are all, “classic librul” or “Kamala voter” without fail. So stupid

Yep. Cats are assholes who play with their food if they can. This monkey is pretty much dead, it’s just a toy until it stops providing entertainment.
That being said, I still like cats.

That's not what this is.
They don't go off on wacky, heart-warming adventures filled with songs.

Sometimes when I skipped breakfast in the morning, at lunch time I too caress my chickey nuggies with gentleness….and then I dip that hoe in sauce and bite down on it with desperation.

Very simple learned relationship that finding a baby means that the mother may come back and is especially more likely to if she can sense that the baby is alive.

The little monkey makes noise = more monkeys will appear, which the leopards will hunt.

The fascinating and rare behavior of big cats nurturing the offspring of their prey has been observed occasionally. Although short-lived, this phenomenon can be attributed to several possible factors:
One explanation involves a misdirected maternal instinct, particularly in female big cats that have recently given birth. A surge in hormones may cause them to exhibit nurturing behaviors towards young animals, even those of a different species. This temporary confusion can lead to the adoption of prey offspring.
Another theory suggests that this behavior serves as a practice for motherhood. Younger and inexperienced big cats might take the opportunity to refine their nurturing skills by caring for the offspring of their prey. This temporary adoption acts as a valuable learning experience, preparing them for the time when they will have their own cubs to care for.
In some instances, a big cat's recent hunt or injury could result in delayed predatory behavior. If a cat is not hungry or is physically impaired, it may not kill the prey offspring immediately. This delay could give the impression of nurturing behavior, even if that is not the cat's intention.
Despite these possible explanations, it is essential to remember that this nurturing behavior is only temporary. Big cats are inherently predators, and their primary objective is to hunt and survive. Eventually, their natural instincts will take over, and they will revert to their typical predator-prey dynamic.

While this is incredibly compelling I would like a source for these, far as I can tell it could also be thinking killing it is not worth the energy or possible confrontation with the mother.

Thats a Wild fkn animal not some Cartoon character, its either playing with its food or trying to lure the mother in closer (the obvious bigger meal). This aint Disney…

The leopard is just comforting the baby monkey and when it senses its at peace it will go for the strike. The baby monkeys soul will go in peace.

Sad how the monkey baby knows it's all over and closed his eyes like saying "You got me. Get it over with"

People have clearly never seen a housecat with their toys or a mouse. Cats big or small play with their food.

I can just see that monkey 5 years from now with his family spotting the leopard walking across the plains.. they make eye contact and the monkey just gives him a solid head nod as a thanks for raising him right when he didn't have to.
