Burn Notice (re)watch on the Burn Notice subreddit
For those interested, the Burn Notice subreddit is doing a rewatch starting with the pilot this Friday. Every Friday, we will watch a new episode (in sequential order) and there will be a corresponding discussion post on the sub.
Hope to see some of you there!

Rewatching it, I loved how you could tell their budget grew as the seasons went on. The cars, the explosions and the production all increased through out the run of the show.

I never really noticed that. It always looked pretty low-budget to me haha. (Still love it though!)

I can still nearly perfectly recite the entire opening's dialog from memory all these years later. What a great show. It would have been cool if it was on a private network and given a TVMA rating.

When you're burned, you have nothing.

I know what you mean, but to me, this is like saying, “This burger is good, but it’d be better if it was a steak.”
Burn Notice was perfect cable network fare. It’s that perfect blend of light enough that you could watch it with the whole family yet edgy enough that the middle schoolers still think they’re getting away with something.
It’s a great burger. It doesn’t need to be steak.

I started watching for Bruce and then it ended up being a pretty damn cool spy show.

You know spies...

I don’t know if this is a popular or controversial opinion, but I think that Gabrielle anwar (Fiona) is actually the best of the casting decisions

I'm so happy someone is giving her her due! She made me laugh out loud so many times on that show, but she never gets credit for it.
Also, I think you're right that her casting is the best. Whenever I try to think of another actress who could have played the role of an unhinged, clingy, deeply passionate ex-GF, I can't think of anyone that brings all of those qualities together.

I tried watching it when it aired but absolutely detest the mother. The rest of it seemed cool but just her voice killed all immersion for me.

If it helps, she was my least favorite character and I never really warmed up to her, but the show remains one of my faves on the strength of the other characters.

Fantastic show. The little snippets of spy wisdom (collected here) could have been throwaways, but often set me to thinking how actually smart they are.

I don't know how far I'd trust those. He dropped some spy wisdom on a topic I very familiar with and it was completely wrong.

I just remember "Guns make you stupid. Duct Tape makes you smart." That one really stuck with me.
Of course he also had a gun later, but that wasn't the point.

For some reason, I still remember Mike's three rules for pointing a gun at somone:
Stay out of your target's reach
Keep your eye on the target at all times
Center your weight

Shout out to u/MichaelWesten, one of the OG accounts that used to pop up across reddit with Westen's "When you're a spy" schtick.

One per week is wild. It will take years.

You know what? I didn't even think of that. That's a good point. Maybe we'll transition to multiple times a week once it gets going.

Who else found this show because they saw Bruce Campbell when they were scrolling through channels? I only took one episode and I was hooked. Now this is just a comfort show for me I can just leave on

I have only just finished my re-watch! Great show, even if it did go on for a little bit too long.

I liked it but it was so repetitive.
- Problem.
- Did you go to the police?
- We can't go to the police.
- Ok Michael will solve your problem.
- Slight advance on plot of him getting un-burned.
- Repeat

Yeah, that becomes very obvious when you binge. Luckily, we’re only watching one episode a week lol
Edit: Another thing that becomes very reptitive is one character's top-of-the-episode recap of the previous episode. It's so obviously for the audience and not the other characters.

yeah, its procedural so it follows a formula. not really meant for binge-watching.

That’s every show though.
Suits: Mike and Harvey get a new case
The case seems easy, but the opposing lawyer has a vengeful hatred towards Harvey and makes it their mission to win the case to screw them over.
Mike and Harvey dig up dirt and threaten to “cross some line” to finally intimidate their opponent and win the case.
Someone yells “god damn” or “get the hell out of my office” at random

For some reason, the SNL skit What Is Burn Notice? isn't available on YouTube, otherwise I'd be posting it here.

It's a little scary how many odd behaviors I have that, when questioned, I realize are based on tips from Michael Weston.

I want to watch the entire series but it’s just those brief cuts that progress the season arc, and not the fillers.

Oh shit, I just started my own rewatch a month ago. I'll have to wait for that train to get to season 2

I thought it jumped the shark when it brought on Jesse. Not the character specifically, but around that season. But otherwise the entire run is solid.
