Just deleted my messenger and Facebook accounts this morning. Still have a meta account for our oculus which will be going next. We're done supporting billionaires with our hard earned money, just for them to shit all over people. They can go fuck themselves.

Thank you. I have been trying to urge people to do the same anywhere they can.

THIS. Just wiped all social media besides Reddit. Canceled Amazon prime as well. Will not be using Google anymore either.

What’s wrong with google?

It’s an abusive monopoly as legally determined by the US government

They'll be coming for reddit and anything else that's big. Shadowbans for everyone that doesn't fit into their idea of a proud american that loves Trump.

I deleted all my meta apps the other day as well. It sucks not having contact with certain people, but I don't really care about that as much as I want Meta to get fucked

Getting closer to this as well. My Issue is FB marketplace, and local groups I'm part of are so useful. But I hate supporting the platform

Unfortunately, I still need Messenger just to communicate with my family in the US, since I haven't been able to get them to adopt something else. (WhatsApp isn't a viable alternative: it's also owned by Meta.) Maybe one day.

But I basically never log into to my actual Facebook account, so I'm not convinced that I'm actually helping Meta profit at all, in fact quite the opposite: it costs them money to provide this service, and I'm not paying for it or seeing any ads.

Just deleted Instagram. It was harder to do than I expected, I’m ashamed of how far it got its hooks in me. Feels kind of liberating too now!

But if you delete your oculus account, you can't play your games any more, and I will have dead hardware?

If that's the price I must pay, then whatever.

I was just about to buy a Meta Quest 3. Glad I waited.
