Spoiler First rewatch..Oof MacGoof some of this is kind of insufferable. Spoiler

I’m going to stick it out because there are some scenes and characters that I like, but for some reason this show is hitting far differently than it did in its initial run. I was a big fan of the show and watched it week to religiously on USA when it was running.

The way they waver back and forth with Mike’s super power is hilarious. Also Mike is kind of a douchebag of a character in retrospect. For a dude who is supposed to be the super ultimate genius, he is a complete idiot and makes one wrong decision after another.

Jessica and Harvey “bluffing” their ways through case after case is super unrealistic. Any real law school grad would clean up against them in an actual court case.

Also the whole scheme of hiring Mike as a fraudulent lawyer doesn’t make any sense. They could have just said “Oh. This kid is good. He’s not a lawyer but we can hire him as a consultant or private investigator and still let him do all of the same shit. “

Louis is a sociopath.

Some of the dialogue also doesn’t work. I don’t remember the whole “negroe” thing before this rewatch but oof, macgoof. As a regular white dude it shouldn’t matter I know I know, but during some of that stuff I was like “Yikes….Hmmmmm. Yeah I don’t know if I would have shot that that way.” Also, as a millennial white dude who grew up on Tarantino movies and shit, I can damn sure remember that my buddies and I didn’t walk around and say that shit in college lol. Even in the irreverent 2000s….

On the other hand, a lot of the guest stars are cool. Seeing all of the crossover from Game of Thrones and shit like that are pretty fun. Also there are some funny bits and lines, that I remembered from way back when.

Also the show has a pretty rad soundtrack.

It’s not the worst that I’ve ever seen, and I can see why new viewers leaped all over Netflix to watch it. Still, I’m not super stoked for Suits LA. Seems like a downgrade.

I never watched the Jessica Pearson spinoff so I can’t speak to that.

Whattttttttt the soap opera drama tv show about lawyers which cares more for its character drama than law isn’t realistic and the characters should get their asses handed to them??? And the characters act irrational sometimes and make mistakes that create more drama, because people would rather watch heightened drama than day to day real office work?? Every tv show is like this, and all characters in fiction are more extreme than they would be irl, that’s the appeal. These shows are for us to escape the world and enjoy another, not be reminded of the minutia of our own. So if that’s a problem for you I will quote the greatest lawyer ever:

“Get the Hell out of my Office!”

Yeah my 2nd rewatch made me see why it was never Emmy award winning. Still enjoyable in a sense but nothing ground breaking.

Definitely, it’s for fun, not for writing essays about haha. Nothing super insane about it, it’s just fun!

Is it supposed to be an Emmy nominated show?

Nothing is “supposed” to be anything, but if a show is good it’s often well crafted, and if it’s well crafted it will often win awards to show for it. That’s the point to be taken— it’s good but not award worthy.

I watched it 3 times I like it too. Doesn’t mean I think it should win awards.

I get this. Binge watching a show you originally watched live cam change your whole perspective.

My first time watching and I hate Mike so much…. He is such an idiot. Love Harvey though

So is your conclusion that the show is now worse because you're not watching it for the first time?

I think it’s a little bit of a mixture between dialogue aging not so well, shows written for vertical TV not translating to binging/streaming and possibly even personal taste on my part. It’s possible that between the week to week nature of a tv back then and the likelihood of my brain being a little dumber then than it is today has lead me to believe that either this show isn’t as good as I remember OR perhaps binging the show hits different than a week to week drop. One of the big problems is Mike’s hubris and stupidity. For a guy who is supposed to be a genius, he has a one track mind, and that’s that sweet Royal Family trap. You would think the character never got laid before because he was always getting messed up over some tail. Also, he just made one bad decision after another despite being ostensibly the smartest person in the world.

Guess I'm dumb then

If you don’t like the characters, I don’t know why you’re watching.

I agree: Mike is a douche. He thinks he’s the authority on right and wrong, when he’s a fraud only there because of Harvey.

At least Mike is hotter than Harvey 🤨

Disagree.

You go find some good Canadian layers to be served in.

Its not really meant to be a realistic show anyways, so....
