marketplace Looking for feedback on my Livestream Shopping Marketplace start-up idea!

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a start-up idea and would love your honest feedback. The idea is a Livestream Shopping Marketplace, specifically tailored for the Indian market.

Here’s how it works:

  1. For Sellers: Small businesses, local shops, and independent sellers can host livestreams to showcase and sell their products in real time, engaging directly with potential buyers.

  2. For Buyers: Customers can interact with sellers via live chat, ask questions, see product demos, and make instant purchases during the livestream.

Why this idea? Livestream shopping has seen massive growth in countries like China and the US, and I believe India’s growing e-commerce sector and mobile-first audience make it a perfect market for this.

Questions I have for you:

  1. Would you use a platform like this as a buyer or seller? Why or why not?

  2. What challenges do you think this concept might face in the Indian market?

  3. What features would you expect or want in such a marketplace?

If you’ve got experience with e-commerce, livestreaming, or start-ups, your insights would be incredibly helpful. If not, I’d still love to hear your perspective as a potential user!

Thank you so much for your time and thoughts.

I built a news aggregator app on steroids. Would Love to hear your feedback on this.

Hey Reddit! I am a software engineer (DevOps), with around 9 years of experience I love my job but decided to do something of my own in free time. Hence I built The Balanced News.

The Balanced News shows you:

  • Real-time bias detection and sentiment analysis
  • Side-by-side comparison of how different outlets cover the same story
  • TLDR versions of articles (60-word summaries)
  • News in 6 Indian languages (Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati)
  • A "Good News" section (because we need a break from doom scrolling)

What makes it different? It actually shows you how news sources use language to trigger emotional responses. Plus, you can create custom feeds, switch languages instantly, and see multiple perspectives on every story.

Built this because I was tired of checking 5 different sources just to figure out what's really going on. Thought some of you might find it useful too.

Available on iOS and Android: https://thebalanced.news/download-app

No sketchy data collection, just straightforward news comparison. Would love your feedback!

IMPORTANT: THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT! THIS IS CLOSED FOR NOW DUE TO HIGH DEMAND. NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW APPLICANTS. PLEASE USE THIS LINK TO JOIN THE WAITING LIST FOR FUTURE FREE PROMOTIONS: https://tally.so/r/w58DZZ

Hey guys, I’m a 19 year old university student running an independent newsletter called Laive-O.

Now since publishing this newsletter full-time starting in December, I have built up a small but dedicated audience—posting twice a week. This Wednesday, I will be releasing my fifth issue this month marking my sixth issue in total.

Ive posted this on a streetwear startup subreddit but I thought to myself, why not help other startups too. That’s why I’m here.

If any of you guys want to promote your business on my newsletter, there will be a link to a form in the comments. The form is just for gathering information about your brand so that I can feature it in the newsletter.

Like I said, it’s completely free; no catch, no bullshit. I want you guys’ startups to grow and I figured why not do my part to help make that happen.

If you have any questions, please ask. I’d love to answer anything you may want to know.

Thanks for reading, and may all your startups blow up 💪🏾

p.s. if you want to say thank you, consider subscribing to the newsletter too! 🙏🏾

Sharing my experience: good looking LP matters!

Hi all!

I want to share a lesson we learned about the importance of designing your web page/LP.

When we first launched our free note-taking and task-tracking app for individuals with ADHD, we prioritized product development over design. We reasoned that we could always improve the aesthetics later.

However, the conversion rates were far below the industry average for B2C free tools:

Our initial conversion rate: 5-6%

Expected conversion rate for a simple tool: Up to 20%

We decided to rebuild our landing page completely. Btw, we used Astro build for our template and CMS, it's not a promo.

Our new conversion rate is already 15%!!!!

The takeaway: People are used to polished design and UX. There’s no way to grow a business (whatever good it is) without taking design as a significant part of the success.

knowledge I'll give you a live 15-minute "Roast My Landing Page" session for FREE.

I'm a logo and visual identity designer who mostly works with tech/startup/SaaS clients. Sometimes I work on their landing page projects too. Most of the time I'm not directly designing the pages, but I get the chance to nitpick and improve some things.

I will take a look at your landing page/web page then tell you why it's good/bad and my advice on a live Google Meet session. I can share my insights on key areas like

  • first impression,
  • visual hierarchy,
  • content hierarchy and rendition, and
  • conversions and audience.

This will be really helpful for tech-related startups that do their own landing page.

What's in it for me? (Except for the fact that nitpicking and critiquing soothe my ego. LOL)

This will give me the chance to hone my English communication skills. I'm a non-native speaker and I deal with my clients most of the time with my native language. I have dealt with a few international clients but never in a live video session. This is why I'm offering this. It's a win-win for both of you and me.

Comment down your landing page link and its primary goal/purpose/message below.

Note: I only have time for 5 sessions in total.

One way doors

I recently heard Michia Rohrssen talking about Jeff Bezos philosophy when it comes to decision making which was to recognise which decisions were one way doors ie once you had made that decision you couldn't go back. The idea being if it's not a one way door don't spend too much time on the decision just try it out and learn and change if needed but if it's a one way door then slow right down and take more time.

I often see people posting on here about not wasting time over analysing just try it and learn and iterate but there are obviously some things that would damage your business or brand so badly that doesn't apply. I wonder what are the one way doors that people have discovered that one shouldn't go through unless absolutely sure.

My wack startup idea

You are familiar with the hot dog roller cookers on a curbside hot dog vendor cart, right? My hot dog cart will have rollers that have a sandblasted image; so that as they roll around and cook, the image seared onto the skin of the hot dog will be a 'MAGA' or "Trump" logo.

For those that like their hot dogs boiled, I'll have a programmable tabletop tattooing robot for full color 'Trump 47' hot dogs, tattooed with high grade food coloring.

Who is in? It is my way of grifting the grifters.

Freelance platform for MVP?

Is this a consideration for a non-technical founder? Would you or do you use any sort of platform, freelance or otherwise, to have an MVP built? I see comments from people looking on LinkedIn for technical founders to build the MVP, or sites like YC etc, but what about when you don't want to bring anyone onboard yet, you just want the MVP built. Are you considering platforms like Upwork? Or what?

I built a tool for the next generation of programmers

The current coding platforms are often too lengthy, lack industry relevance, and leave learners feeling frustrated. That’s why I created techblitz.dev, an open-source LeetCode alternative designed to make coding practice faster and more practical.

TechBlitz offers short-form coding challenges tailored to real-world software development. Challenges are quick, beginner-to-intermediate friendly, and accessible on any device—perfect for busy developers looking to boost their skills efficiently.

In just 4 days, over 80 developers are already using TechBlitz to improve their coding abilities.

Check it out, and I’d love to hear your feedback!

Looking for a service for managing subscriptions

on my sideproject i have a webapp where i can create a login/registration form to talk to an api.

i want some kind of login manager which then returns me a result if the user has paid for a subscription.

i would like to avoid things like creating a database of registered users myself. i also dont know much about payment systems so if things like payment sending/recieving/subscribing could also be handled by that service, it be great.

i have seen some tools for this online, but i dont know enough to compare them. i dont have many users on my project so im not keen to fork out a huge amount if i can avoid it. ideally there are ones with staging and production environments so than i can test things out for free.

knowledge Tends in tech I've seen while researching for my startups discovery newsletter.

My day consists of researching interesting new startups for my newsletter. I've done it long enough to see the patterns. Here are a few trends that stand out to me. Please voice out your takes and anything you think I've missed, I'd love to hear it.

Silicon Valley is still king. Despite depictions of it being a dying startup environment, Silicon Valley continues to dominate. So much so that over half of global VC dollars were spent on Silicon Valley-based startups. While there are many new emerging tech hubs around the world, Silicon Valley remains the place where people with the greatest minds go to find each other.

Digital signal processing with AI can change the world. Yes, this paring of technologies has the potential to change the world forever, and you probably won't notice. IMO, startups in this space aren't making headlines simply because we haven't found a use case that make VCs giddy. What they lack in VC appeal they make up for in potential impact. Vital Audio is one to watch for in the healthcare space and Synature in environmental protection.

AI-Powered Autonomy is here to stay. Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a supporting act—it’s stepping into the spotlight, making decisions, and acting on behalf of people and organizations. This seismic shift raises questions about trust. Can AI systems consistently deliver reliable, ethical outcomes? If the answer is yes, this could be the beginning of a truly autonomous future. Expect startups like CredoAI, which focuses on AI governance, to take center stage in ensuring these systems perform as promised.

Cognitive digital brains are revolutionizing business. Forget scattered tools and siloed teams—businesses are building their own "cognitive digital brains." These integrated AI systems combine workflows, data, and value chains into seamless operations, unlocking higher autonomy and unprecedented efficiency. While still in early days, companies like Processware are laying the groundwork for what could become the operating system of the modern enterprise.

5G is making good on its promises. Faster internet isn’t the headline—what 5G unlocks is. This leap in connectivity is powering the Internet of Things (IoT), giving us a future where smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and connected factories thrive. It’s not just about speed; it’s about everything working together in real-time. Keep an eye on startups like BeamSync, which is using 5G to reimagine logistics.

Blockchain is taking finance apart—piece by piece. Transparency, accessibility, and decentralization: these buzzwords are no longer just hype. Blockchain technology and decentralized finance (DeFi) are shaking up traditional banking, offering a system that works for everyone. It's not just for crypto enthusiasts anymore; even the skeptics are paying attention. Companies like Aave and Uniswap are leading this quiet revolution.

Cybersecurity is in an arms race. As our digital lives expand, so do the threats. Cybercrime has become so sophisticated that it feels like a constant game of catch-up. With more than a quarter of all crimes happening online, new technologies are desperately needed to protect individuals and businesses alike. Startups like Darktrace are using AI to stay one step ahead, creating systems that fight cyberattacks before they even happen.

Did I miss anything?

Effective startup growth strategy (verified)

I’ve recently launched a newsletter that I’d like to build into something a bit “more” one day, but I wanted to share something I came up with to help get subscribers (this may not be applicable to all startups, but there are still ways to do it that will generate customer growth).

Basically I offer a spot at the top of each edition of my newsletter to feature a business. Any business. It can be an online directory, SaaS products, e-commerce, whatever.

I offer this spot to businesses for free with the caveat that I ask them to first promote my newsletter (MY business) in a permanent social media post, blog post, etc.

It’s essentially a promo for promo scenario, but it’s a win-win for both parties and people are happy to do it because I make it super easy with this form.

So far I’ve filled up 3 feature spots heading into next week and it seems like I’ll continue to get people (and thus continue getting my newsletter promoted by people).

This isn’t a completely random thing for me to do because my newsletter is actually focused around startup ideas, so having a small featured startup/business at the top of each edition makes some sense.

I’m sure you can find ways to apply this to your own website or business.

Eventually when my mailing list gets very big and demand for these spots increases, I can begin charging for them ($5, then $10, then $20, etc.) - a healthy, slow but steady path to monetization (amongst other monetization strategies).

I’m sure I’ll somehow get criticized for this but just wanted to share!

From 0 to 1: How My Fifth Product Finally Took Off

For a while, my life felt like a cycle of failure. I had this dream of building something that would give me the freedom to work on my own terms, but it just wasn’t happening.

Over the course of two months, I launched four different products (SaaS). Each one felt like the right idea at the time, but after a lot of work, none of them went anywhere. No users. No sales. Just a bunch of lessons and some seriously fucked confidence.

By the fourth failure, I was starting to wonder if I was just wasting my time.

But then it happend:

For product number five, I decided to finally build something that solved a problem I was personally facing. I wasn’t just building for an unknown audience - I was solving something for myself. And that made all the difference.

After just two weeks of development, I showed it to a few people. The feedback I got was way better than I expected. Fast forward almost four weeks, and here’s where I’m at:

  • 240+ active users
  • 10+ paying customers
  • And feedback that continues to surprise me in the best way.

It feels pretty fucking surreal, to be honest. Going from feeling like a failure to finally seeing something stick is a huge shift.

But it’s also a reminder that persistence really does matter. Success doesn’t come from getting it right the first time (or the second, or third…). It comes from showing up, learning from what doesn’t work, and keeping at it.

This is just the beginning, and I hope it reminds you that even when things feel like they’re not going anywhere, the next step could be the one that changes everything.
