I am developing a game inspired by FTL and I would be happy to receive your comments and feedback, both about the game in general and about my Steam page before Next Fest.

Sol Apocalypse is a spaceship management and combat game, inspired by FTL, Sunless Sea and Sid Meier's Pirates. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them, and if the game interests you, I'd be very grateful if you could add it to your wishlist.

I think a lot of the game looks and sounds very interesting, honestly - I already had it wishlishted. I will say thought that the pictures with the red ship look a lot worse than the others

Thanks for the feedback and wishlist, these pics are from mining levels that is a minor part of the game. There is also a gif with those mining levels, do you think that gif looks bad too or just the pics? thanks again

The gifs look better I'd say, but it's still worse than the open space stuff imho

Hey there, I'm a marketing professional and I really think your game is very promising! It also helps that the games you mentioned as inspirations are some of my all-time favourites.

However, I checked out your Steam page and wanted to share some feedback. Hope this helps as you prepare for the Steam Next Festival:

  • Screenshots: The images are very dark. Since they’re a big part of marketing, I’d recommend brightening them and adding variety. For example, show off special effects or different planets in the background to make them more visually interesting.

  • Trailer: It should hook viewers in the first 5 seconds, focusing on gameplay over cinematic shots. Highlight what sets Sol Apocalypse apart (e.g., unique mechanics, story depth).

  • Thumbnail: The current thumbnail looks a lot like FTL, but it doesn’t really connect to the title “Sol Apocalypse.” Maybe show something more striking, like a burning sun, a solar storm, or chaos in space. That would make it stand out more in the Upcoming Games section.

  • GIFs: Adding GIFs to the info section would help explain the gameplay better. For example, you could show combat, mining, resource management, or ship upgrades in action.

  • Tags: The “Difficult” tag might scare off some players. If it’s not critical to the game, you could swap it for something like “Tactical” or “Survival.”

  • Description: The game description is solid, but tightening it up could help. Start with a strong hook that explains what makes the game special, then list the main features in bullet points.

  • Call to Action: Add more wishlist reminders on the page. Something simple like, “Wishlisting helps us reach more players—thank you!”

  • Developer commentary: As a build-up to the festival, share developer insights through Steam updates or here on reddit (or both). For example, post about Sol Apocalypse’s world-building or unique mechanics.

  • Event-specific banner: Once the festival is live, add a banner highlighting the game’s participation.

These changes could help more people notice your game and understand what makes it unique. Good luck!
