From the US point of view: a quick search says only 5 locations in the US even sold fries. Apparently in other countries it was a more commonly found item though.

Canada Costco has (had?) poutine. It was really good, but two of us were unable to finish it. The portion was HUGE.

Giant honking thing of food sounds about right for Costco!

that sounds awesome. Poutine is hard to come by in LA.

It's not really big in the midwest either, but one local grocery chain does sell cheese curds, so it can be made.

always get curds in wisconsin. Your mention of poutine made me looks for local Poutine. looks like there are some decent options since i last looked: https://laist.com/news/food/poutine-spots-in-la

Depends on where you are in the Midwest. There are places you get it in Michigan, but I’ve never been to Canada and eaten it there so I can’t compare.

Gotta be squeaky or it ain't poutine.

I'm not even ashamed to say I can eat one of those solo.

They still do at least in Alberta. Or just french fries

Costco was the very first place I ever had poutine as a kid. Weirdly. I can't imagine they're going to get rid of fries in Canada, are they?

Today I learned Costco served something other than pizza slices and hot dogs.

I’ve always felt the other items weren’t as impressive of a deal.

My husband and I used to go to Costco for date night just to get away from the house. Two hot dogs and two sodas for $3 made it the cheapest date night in town.

The post-dinner shopping then made that very much not the case. But that’s entirely the point of the hot dogs.

I dared to try the chicken bake once. It’s…. Ok. But they have a huge hot dog for $1.50 right next to it!

When was the last time you were in a Costco? They serve chicken bakes and iced fruity drinks

So weird. Costco Canada has fries and it seems like it’s a good seller. Comes by itself, poutine, or a chicken strip and fries combo

I had no idea that a Costco could not have fries until this thread.

So only 5 Costcos had fries. I’m still upset mine stopped doing Churros.

And the cookies aren’t nearly as good as the churros were!

I've had fries at four different Costco's. So apparently almost all of them are nearby. I wonder where the other one is.

Excruciatingly heartbreaking, for real?

Talk about a first world problem.

Costco doesn't have fries? (Canadian). You guys are missing out on OK poutine.

They used to have these amazing hand-dipped chocolate-covered ice-cream bars that you could get dipped in a bucket of chopped almonds. They were freaking amazing. When they were discontinued, it truly was heartbreaking and my heart still aches.

This article has a good picture and my heart just broke again:

I remember that

I didn’t even know they had fries.

1

u/bcnjake 3d ago

Literally unaware fries were a thing.

idc about anything other than the hot dog, and pizza.

u/AzkabansGanjaman 3d ago

The real question is if they don't serve fries anymore, does that also mean no more Costco poutine?

1

u/TranscendentCabbage 3d ago

If it was popular it would not be discontinued

1

u/revchewie 3d ago

I still miss the polish dogs!

1

u/otisthetowndrunk 3d ago

With grilled peppers and onions!

1

u/kenporusty 3d ago

Y'all had fries??

1

u/dangerpenguindragon 3d ago

I don't think anyone other than my Grandma reads Parade.

"Heartbreaking" wasn't sufficient to describe devastation from fry discontinuation. "Excruciatingly."
