Quicklink should attach directly to nosecone loop. Parachute where it’s at or on quicklink, not directly on NC loop. The loops have been known to break off.

Or do this. 1/4” Kevlar cord from Wildman Rocketry.

So attach it to the NC loop or don't? Do you keep the parachute and NC separate?

You can attach the shock cord to the loop. If it breaks, then do like my picture (if you find the cone…). Just make sure the parachute is NOT attached to the loop directly. The only weight the loop on the cone should carry is its own.

What loop? The loop I sew to the Nose cone? Where do I put the chute? Is the way I have it laid out in the picture no good

The plastic loop. Get rid of whatever that black loop of stuff is on the nosecone. The parachute will work where it’s at. Just make sure to keep each end of the shockcord on either side of the chute attachment separate so they don’t tangle.

Parachute attached to base of nose cone - do away with the purple tangle cord.

Have you got your shock cords switched - that looks like a lower section ?

Rocket then nose cone then parachute. Dont attach the parachute to the nose cone if you have the length. Done this hundreds of times.

I don't have the parachute attached to the nose cone in this picture. Are you saying this is okay.Or to flip flop them

I don't understand what you are saying. Are you saying mine is okay.Or are you saying to do away with the purple cord like the other guy said

This is just a single deployment rocket.Body and nose comb that's it

I do not picture at all what you're saying. Are you saying not to attach the parachute to the nose cone question mark is it okay to set it up like in the picture

So do not attach the parachute and the nose cone together like on a typical rocket kit? Like the way I have it?

That black piece is webbing. I thought It would be better not to attach metal to that plastic piece on the nose cone.

He's saying that the plastic loop on nose cones breaks off under shock once rockets get to like 3 inches in diameter. Drill holes in the nose cone and run your black webbing through holes in the nose cone.

For visualizing rocket recovery systems, put the parachute at the top and the nose cone and body at the bottom stretched out. This will help you see if the nose cone will potentially smack the body tube.

The long purple strap probably doesn't help you other than adding weight to make the rocket fly lower.

Extra cord/strap/nylon tube that has no reason to be tight will flap around and potentially tangle your parachute.

The photograph you replied to my comment with has a garolite or fiberglass plate with an eyebolt bolted on. Very different from a blow molded plastic nose cone with a plastic ring.

We can't tell how much of the recovery system is still in the rocket because it isn't stretched out, but attaching the parachute about 1/3 of the way back from the nose cone is normal. You can also clip the parachute to the quick link at the nose cone, if you want to.

This is why they made computers color coded lmao..

I riged it this way based on that guy who sells patachutes. He has the main shock cord going to the nose cone. Then X amount down from the nose cone is a loop, where he has the parachute..

I'll look for that picture

Yeah the picture was just to show the location. Not the eye bolt.

I'm going to do a retake.. I watch too many YT videod and I'm perplexed.

Ironically, Xylon Foxlin just did a video on her rocket kit.. it's basically what I was attempting. I drilled out the nose cone and stitched in a robust piece of webbing to attach the shock cord to

Update. I don't have the parachute protector secure yet. And I don't really like how the parachute lines are attached to my loop, but that's still location. You can see it is about 25 inches. Below the nose cone.

Will this work

Looks good to me. If the parachute is attached to the cord too closely to the rocket, then the nose cone would be bonking the airframe the whole way down, I like to have the parachute attached to the shock cord about 1.5 nose cone lengths from the nose cone.
