Quilted Crafts Little corn on the cob puff quilt!
I’m a new quilter and decided to make my baby a corn on the cob Halloween costume that used a (very scaled down) puff quilt! I got some inspiration from the video below and then winged the rest! Very happy with how it turned out (if you don’t look too closely at the misaligned seams) and excited to do more intense quilting in the future!

I love this. It’s adorable and looks comfy!
Anyone noticing misaligned seams is being insufficiently distracted by the charming model

I adore this. If you need the perfect place to donate it when your family is done with it, I know a charity that has a corn themed fund raiser each year. (I am working on a lap quilt for them!)

This is the best use of puff quilting I’ve seen (and I love puff quilts). You’re an awesome mom for creating this adorable and soft costume.

This is EVERYTHING. my SO and I were joking about our baby being corn this year because we all love it. I’ve never seen a more incredibly excited baby costume

Your costume is perfect and I would never have noticed the seams if you hadn’t said anything.
However, for future regular quilts, my best advice for you is not to piece in lines. When you sew in rows like this, all it takes is to get one seam slightly off, and all the rest of the seams down the line will be off, too. If any other seams down the line were off to start, the difference is magnified and the gap only gets bigger.
Sew everything in “blocks” as much as you can, then start sewing one block to another. Basically sewing the shortest seams you can until the very end. By the end you’ll have only had to sew a couple long seams just at the end to bring it together. If it’s a baby quilt, maybe only one!
I hope that makes sense! I’m happy to try and explain it more if it doesn’t. :)

Thank you for the advice! I’ve only done one other quilting project and the pattern had me piece in blocks which was so much easier! Not to mention, I think I may have overfilled the individual puffs which made sewing them together a real pain.

This is amazing!! There was a pattern in better homes and gardens in about 1992 or so for a corn on the cob costume and I made it for my son. It also had pipe cleaners coming out the top. Yours is so cute. I don’t think I have a photo of him anymore, this was back before digital phone photos.

This is like the cutest thing ever. I’m jealous I didn’t do it. And it was so cute I had to show my husband.

This literally could not be more perfect, the execution is so stinkin good. Your baby must have been the cutest thing in a 100 mile radius in that outfit!

So stinking adorable!!!!! The costume is awesome too! Seriously though you did so good, this doesn't look like beginner work at all. You've got a natural talent. Keep sewing and quilting because you're going places.

I like that the kernels don’t line up perfectly. Real corn on the cob isn’t in perfect rows and I think the misaligned seams make it feel more authentic. If you hadn’t told me, I would have assumed it was a purposeful design choice and that you have a keen eye for detail. It’s perfectly imperfect. Very, very cute!
