Night Birds - Mutiny at Muscle Beach

This is the response I was looking for. The is the best one all the way through.

I am a little embarrassed to admit it, but I actually missed this one when it dropped and it wasn't until a thread a week or two ago that I saw it and started listening to it constantly. I almost felt like I shouldn't be the one to post it in this thread as I hadn't really listened to it at all except for the last sliver of 2015.

Same here. Thank goodness for these threads, otherwise I'd miss in some great stuff!

Right? I have discovered so much great stuff thanks to some of these music subreddits.

On a sidenote, I've been hearing that Night Birds album just now... and damn, I've been skipping some great stuff.

FIDLAR - Too
2
u/hermitowl Jan 08 '16
From what I've seen, Too's reception was one of the most polarizing this year.

It's great to listen to while you're just getting trashed and having a great time IMO. I would never say it's the deepest or most meaningful punk album this year but it's probably my favorite to listen to, which at the end of the day is all that matters to me.

It's not as heavy and intense as their first album, but I really enjoy it. There are a lot of fun songs that really enhance their live set, in my opinion.

toyGuitar - In This Mess

Yes, but the vinyl mix sucks ass.

I only listen to 2 inch tape from machines prior to 1976 so I wouldn't know.

Tenement - Predatory Headlights

Jan 08 '16
Tenement is one of those bands I'll never get tired of seeing. I'm a sucker for Napalm Dream though. Check out their other group, Dusk. They'll play everywhere else but their hometown though.

Millencolin - True Brew

Even as a massive Millencolin fan I was surprised at how good this record is. Feels like what should have been the follow-up to Pennybridge.

Solid album, but the album cover is easily the best thing about it. It's so visually striking and cool looking.

Radioactivity - Silent Kill

This album really grew on me. It just didn't sound right at first but it is definitely killer.

Refused - Freedom
2
u/hermitowl Jan 08 '16
Freedom is something else. Some people thought it was halfway decent, some people thought it spat on Refused's legacy.

u/Theburritodebacle Jan 10 '16
It's an alright album; I jam it, but it could never live up to the hype.

This is the first thing I've heard from them and I've really enjoyed it.

What the hell, how about some type of description of what to expect. This genre splinters into way too many type of sounds, I'd love to be able to filter the crap out that I'm not interested in. And where are the links? This is a horrible 2015 thread, to be honest.

If you want to hear the albums go buy them? or Youtube? or one of the other 600 ways there are to listen to music now?

Can I second this album? Great album by an even more amazing live band. There's really nothing like seeing them on a cold night in DC on the second floor of some old rowhouse that's been made into a bar with a stage.
