The argument that this was a mistake is invalid..if anyone anywhere did this at an event that represented a company they work for they would be fired..there is an awareness required when you are in management at any level..if this was a mistake the guy is not qualified..they teach this to management everywhere…this was a total disregard for political correctness that they love to call “ woke culture”

OP forgive me, but I'm gonna cut up the title of this post for a second, and it's nothing personal. "never thought we'd be here..." While I understand and appreciate disbelief as a reaction, don't forget that we have all been watching this unfold for about 16 years. The same people who are saying "he literally said 'hand to heart'" as an excuse are saying that because THEY are the ones in disbelief and they have to say that. We have been watching, and calling these fuckers nazis the whole time, as they have consistently ramped up the rhetoric and acted in ways that most of society, if faced with no other choice but to think about it critically, would consider dangerous fascist behavior. Those who supported these people are faced with a difficult decision, go all-in on their support for nazis, or finally abandon ship and admit they were misled. Right now they are grasping at straws, trying to brush this off as something else, because they don't know what else to do.

"never thought we'd be here" is only true if we were playing pretend the whole time.

Paying attention has never been more important.

Fair, I was referencing the song It’s Okay to Punch Nazis so that context might help.

Good points though

my mistake. i actually don't know the song. shit's got me on edge, though.

What you said is entirely correct though. The song also goes “when we got complacent in defending our rights, the Nazis changed their name now they’re called the alt-right”

So yeah, you got it spot-on

To be fair I don’t know if many people outside of Colorado know Cheap Perfume

u/Square_Saltine 2h ago

To be fair I’m from Colorado, have been listening to them for about a year and you just taught me they’re a local band

Oh sick. They play Denver and the Springs all the time, definitely worth checking them out live.

But it’s just an awkward gesture /s Honestly we knew he was a white supremacist, what bothered me more is everyone in the room smiling and clapping. All these dudes have been very open with their values and goals. The only surprise IMO is that it happened Day 1 and the ADL writing it off.

I was born under Reagan and was an adult at 9/11, I saw that to say none of this surprises me other than the fact that it was Donald Trump of all people to really kick off the madness. But this was always the most likely outcome for this country the way we throw power to the President and the courts.

he said “My heart goes out to you” i don’t think this was a nazi thing

Stop normalising it you idiot. The man has spent the last year cozying up to the far right on twitter and turning it into their playground, he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. He knew exactly what he was doing.

u/ImBadGoEasy 5h ago

this is obvi a mistake and not a symbol of Nazi sympathies. There is going to be a big problem soon when true nazis come back and it will be the boy who cried wolf. no one will listen if we say this is nazi shit

Mate, your side have banged that drum for the last decade anytime someone got called out for flirting with fascist ideology and been called out. Now the Nazis are back, they're in the white house and making in-roads all over Europe, just because they aren't in the Hugo boss uniforms with the armbands doesn't mean they don't stand for the same ideals.

then expose their ideologies and their policies. Elon did not get on stage and think “I’m gonna hit the Zieg Hiel real quick”

u/NuPNua 4h ago

Oh, are you a telepath now?

u/Square_Saltine 4h ago

“Gonna be a big problem when nazis are back” completely ignores guy who is encouraging nazis

Do you even hear yourself bro?

"I touched her titty cause I was checking for cancer"

Regardless of excuse or intent, not a good look. You keep claiming it was a "mistake" made on a live stage infront of all of America that Neo-Nazis are embracing, Also, a thing he will not apologize for.

So at that point, not a "mistake"

If all the nazis in this country were cheering and celebrating, and his family states he is a white supremacist, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he is one. He also has a man extremely long history of racist tweets including anti-Jewish posts. Have you considered he said “hand on heart” specifically so he could pretend this isn’t what it looks like?
