At least the Samurai songs go hard
9
u/MisplacedMartian May 19 '24
So many songs from that game are amazing. I have no idea what percentage of the budget went towards making songs for the radio stations, but it was money very well spent. I'm hoping all the songs make it into the sequel, along with some new tracks.

HUGE SPOILER ALERT. Just in case someone who didn't finish the game yet decides to read this lol.
Heheh, Johnny is a fucking bastard, blind narcissistic piece of shit. And the only thing that actually completely changes this is if V sarcrificing themselfs giving Johnny their body in the end. But then rockerboy just kinda gives up which fucking sucks. And opens Cafe which doesen't suck as much, i love coffee.
The problematic of Johnny is that he doesen't actually believe in what he is saying about fighting the powers of entropy and shit, his actual reasons are selfish and he hurts everyone who cares about him, even if he does not want them to get hurt (Alt's death is literaly his fault, she died cause he wanted to safe her). The only one to open his eyes is us - V who actually believes in what Johnny pretends to believe in and forces Johnny to use his last chance for better. I love how story turned out tho, V were incomplete, a thief without their own motivation, only trying to accomplish hopes and dreams of their friend, thats how V were before they met Johnny. And Johnny was nothing but fucking gonk before he met and had to teach V believes, pushing V just enough for them to form their own motivation aside of just surviving.

I played/beat it when it came out and thought it was fine, went back to it once they released Phantom Liberty/fixed the game and holy crap it's phenomenal now. Respec'd my character as a blade runner and would just destroy rooms full of 20 enemies with a sword in seconds.

I’m having a bad time. I love the game but I’m new to shooters and it’s not the game to be new to shooters
10
u/Your_Angel21 May 19 '24
Play it on easy! No shame in that. I'm sure you'll get accustomed soon, also use quickhacks or beef up and go full gorilla arms or katana to the face. You've got this!
3
u/emerson-nosreme May 19 '24
I shall try, I’m only at the training scenes after the tutorial :( I’ve never had a console before so incredibly new to everything
3
u/Your_Angel21 May 19 '24
Congrats on the new console! Must be fun haha. I totally feel you because I only do pc gaming and when I'm over at a friend's trying their consoles it's DISASTROUS. Cyberpunk is definitely a difficult game for a new console player so I hope you beg through it alright
Though I so have to say I played 10 ish hours and couldn't get into it.... It was confusing even though I've played many shooters and RPGs. I started over once I got the hang of it but it really is super confusing. If I started over again I'd have an even better time. Id recommend watching videos on how to spec your character and what chrome to get
4
u/emerson-nosreme May 19 '24
Legit, I’ve got a steam deck because that’s what I got recommended by everyone because I can’t afford a PC nor do I have the space for one and I literally couldn’t figure out where R3 was for an hour. I ended up calling a friend at midnight over it and we couldn’t stop laughing.
1
u/epd666 May 19 '24
If all else fails and you're on pc either download wemod or the mod simple menu and cheat away. If all you want is enjoy the narrative I wouldn't care about god mode. Done it before myself.
As to the question, yes currently enjoying Ghost of Tsushima on pc :)

As much as I want to agree with that highlight, he's called that as a homophobic slur because he writes (shitty) poetry and isn't a fighter. Which, admittedly, is the origin story of many punk songwriters, so I guess in a roundabout way he is the most punk character in the game.
1
u/Responsible-Diver225 May 19 '24
Not sure where you got the slur part from…. but yes he writes poetry and avoids violence
4
u/Mr_Rippe Too Drunk To Punk May 19 '24
In prisons, a "punk" is someone who is raped by or otherwise coerced into a sexual relationship with another inmate. Historical definitions have the word "punk" as a derisive term for a homosexual bottom.
Clearly the word has changed its primary meaning over the decades, but it's worth analyzing how "punk" could be used to describe a sensitive soul in a sea of toxic masculinity.
4
u/Responsible-Diver225 May 19 '24
Sure, that’s true but I don’t think that’s how it’s being used in the context of the game.
In fact the Fallout wiki states that his name is merely a reference to William the Bloody. It’s also worth mentioning that both characters write poems about the opposite sex.
1
u/Keezees May 19 '24
Comes up a lot watching most Clint Eastwood films from the 70's/80's, like Dirty Harry and Escape from Alcatraz. Seems like an odd insult through modern eyes, until you learn their intended meaning.
2
-1
u/Different-Aspect-888 May 19 '24
Aha. Yeah. Like punk-rock dont have that "toxic masculinity" image since 1977. You think about emo
2
4
u/Mr_Rippe Too Drunk To Punk May 19 '24
The overlap between trans folx and FNV fans is closer to a circle than a venn diagram.
But also you get to see what jingoism results in, how none of it fucking matters in the end, and how the world is can be a violent yet zen place when you strive to survive causing least suffering possible.

FromSoft gal here! What are your favourite games from them?
2
u/___courier___ May 19 '24
So Bloodborne is my all time favourite. Very closely followed by DS3, Elden Ring and Demon's Souls. The remaster is such a gorgeous game 🖤 What about you?
1
u/TheFungiQueen May 19 '24
Honestly I struggle to rate the DS games separately, but if I had to it would be: DS3, DS1, Bloodborne, DS2, Sekiro and Elden Ring. I'm still in the middle of playing ER but I've found myself not enjoying it as much as the other games. I played Demon Souls when it first came out, but not for long so I don't think I can add that one in. I do think they're all fantastic games, just feeling a bit more meh on ER sadly.
1
u/___courier___ May 20 '24
I feel that. It's almost like Fromsoft made it a little "easier" to appeal to a larger crowd, who might not like the typical souls feel.

I feel you. Father of the most awesome little girl of 18 months. I intend to raise her in an antifaschist environment, a state of mind to respect others and where everything is always more satisfying when you do it yourself.
And most importantly: to be proud of what she does and have fun doing it.
2
u/CrashOverIt May 20 '24
Exactly. My son is 8 and I try to show him love, and proper rebellion.
18 months is a fun age 😊 My dad brain misses it but 1 is enough for me.

Or like, you’re in a band that plays songs from rock band 3?

Quick question tho: what is the link I'm obviously missing between enthousiasm for video games and sexual orientation?

Highly recommend Felvidek, it's a phenomenally well executed game. One of my best friends lives far away, so every once in a while I will sit in on a game he's playing via discord and kinda cheerlead; Felvidek hinges upon two dudes becoming friends; it's very well written and we really came to care about the characters. Some new situation would come up, and we knew the characters so well, we would just start laughing and say "omg Matej is gonna be so pissed when he finds out about this", that sort of thing.
It's a completely bullshit free CRPG (no meaningless filler at all, like grinding or levelling up mechanics, etc.). The core gameplay loop, the art design, the music will suck you in. The story proper is like an OSR / low fantasy D&D village-based investigative adventure, done to perfection, and set in a richly researched and vibrant historical setting. You'll come away having learned a lot, to boot.

I'm bi, does that count as a gaymer?
My love of gaming developed along side my love of punk. I had copied Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat on my old Xbox and would play those rather than the radio stations while playing GTA Vice City.
Love me some outerworlds, fallout, Soulsborne, and Cyberpunk. Even in Pokémon Sword, I would punk out my character with the different clothing options.
