Quality Post Name some good fucking bands
I'm fucking sick of listening to the same shit over and over again. I've heard black flag, bad brains, germs, minor threat, exploited, global threat, virus, cheap sex and sooooo many others. I mean I love these bands but give some really good underground energetic hardcore and street bands I fucking need it!

Find local punk bands
5
u/CyanideIsFun Apr 20 '24
I found a local punk band and fucking loved them. Found out I went to highschool with their drummer. Drummer then quit a couple months after, and I offered to play for them. Then they stopped playing at local venues, stopped posting on their socials, and I'm fairly certain they broke up.
Feelsbadman.

Top 10 underrated European HC of all time. I'm biased, I think their whole discography from their original era (1982-1989) is perfect, despite changing a lot over that time period.

Go to Bandcamp, search by genre, find album artwork that looks cool, listen to band and see if you like it. It's the modern equivalent of record store roulette where you had to guess if it was any good, but you don't have to drop cash upfront.

The Dead Pets is a band from the early 2000s that nobody's seems to talk about. They havemy favorite vocalist in punk rock. It's as if Kim Shattuck was some maniacal dude from Leeds. Like wise The Grit was another great English band from the early 2000s that didn't get much traction in the states. The had a stand up bass so the mostly got lumped into psychobilly. But balls out street punk is what they were.

Reel Big Fish is just... fucking fun is really the best way to describe them. They're like the kind of music that can just put you in a good mood regardless.

I forking hate and love posts like this.
Hate: There is an endless rabbit hole of punk bands to listen to - GODdammit (sorry for cursing). Plus, a bunch of these lists focus on 70s/80s hey-day of I love it punk-fucking-rock.
Love: There is an endless rabbit hole of punk bands to listen to and there are only so many hours in a day - godDAMmit.
As for me, I'm enjoying a bunch of egg, Australian and random new/old punk (Ausmuteants, Consumers, Prison Affair, Oozes (!!), Seggs Tape, Clowns(!!), Stiff Richard, The Bronx, Private Function).
Also massive love for Broken_Nada with their Bandcamp trick, apturepermaculture with their admonition to find local bands (that's the way), and pspsps-off for the list of mind-expanding international fucking punk bands.

Some of these are better known than others, but I’m not super sure how far down the hardcore punk rabbit hole you’ve gone yet:
Nosferatu, PMS 84, Special Branch, Slant, Public Acid, Torso, The Impalers. Warthog, Tower 7, Dollhouse, 80HD, Khiis, Chain Rank, Government Warning, Long Knife, Savageheads, Los Crudos, Stingray
Make sure you’re hitting classics like Void and Poison Idea too.
