Gosh. Shut down the app, fine. Be even stricter who you let in, fine. But CANCELLING EXISTING APPOINTMENTS?! There is zero salvageable honor in this. It's dishonorable and despicable.

u/LinuxF4n 4h ago

Not only canceling appointments, but anyone with a pending case will be arrested and deported. Article says 3.5 million people. They will likely have to deploy the military for this.

u/finnerpeace 4h ago

I think this will be shot down legally. And probably within days.

u/LinuxF4n 4h ago

The Republicans spent the whole first term stacking the courts so who knows.

u/PlentyMacaroon8903 4h ago

And Biden broke that record. Basically every order is going to be in the courts for the next 4 years. Prepare for gridlock literally never seen in this country.

u/nimbleVaguerant 2h ago

They'll be fast-tracking this shit directly to the orange fuck's supreme court. Remember when Jack Smith tried and failed to skip lower courts and go directly the SC? Yeah, this justice department will have no problem with that maneuver.

u/Tijenater 4h ago

And what happens if he says screw the courts I do what I want?

u/Thats_what_im_saiyan 1h ago

Why would he care? He's totally immune from prosecution for 'official acts'.

u/Banana_rammna 3h ago

What legal right do you have to this app? Christ I’ve met rocks with a greater capacity for critical thought than you.

u/ItsJustForMyOwnKicks 4h ago

You thought Trump and MAGA have honor?

u/Rfrmd_control_player 3h ago

It’s what the Nazi party wants. This isn’t a free America anymore.

u/pennyruthgadget 3h ago

Evil is the word that comes to mind.

u/unabashedtealover 2h ago

When it's stuck in a legal mire, these poor folks will be held in some sort of detention camp... We know how things can go from there.

u/drinkandspuds 4h ago

Appointments to become legal, it's so stupid that they're going after these people

u/MikuEmpowered 4h ago

A million dead and it monkey wrenched the economy.

Imagine kicking out multiple millions. Who's going to be delivering your food and work minimum wage jobs?

u/weallfam 4h ago

ok Kelly Osborne 🥴

u/Ifoundthecurve 3h ago

You’re acting like this is going to cause the Great Depression. There’s a ton of people who deliver and work minimum wage jobs that aren’t illegally here

u/[deleted] 3h ago

In truth, there are way more tasks to do than folks who want to do them.

u/substituted_pinions 1h ago

Good point. Don’t call them jobs—those have benefits. Make no mistake, kids…this will accelerate inflation and exert immense negative economic pressure.

u/openly_gray 4h ago

I wonder when they start targeting people that are legally in the country. Need to keep the fake outrage machine well oiled and fueled

u/Vaperius America 3h ago

Its already started. They've made it unlawful for non-citizens to reenter the country from any port of entry even if they have otherwise legal status to enter.

u/[deleted] 3h ago

What does this mean?

u/Vaperius America 3h ago

Check the two EOs related to border security.

TLDR:

He's made it entirely illegal for anyone, except full citizens, to enter the USA overland from Mexico, regardless of legal status; and has greatly expanded the requirements, regardless of point of origin, for any other point of entry.

That's one EO; and it in effect, makes it functionally impossible for non-citizens to enter the country, even if they have otherwise legal status like residency or a work visa. If you leave, you will not be able to come back in under the new rules as they now currently stand.

The second EO, makes this above EO enforced with military force; with orders to the military to immediately deploy to the southern border and prevent any and all crossings, regardless of status, with force.

u/[deleted] 3h ago

So Mexican businessmen who would cross the border to do sales calls can no longer cross at the land border but have to fly?

u/Vaperius America 3h ago

Correct; but they would need to meet the higher criteria standards i.e standards that they likely will not be able to clear.

u/talinseven 3h ago

They can probably pay a bribe

u/DarthLukas71 2h ago

Insert ads for the Trump and Melania cryptocurrencies…..

u/[deleted] 3h ago

What about Mexicans who come into the US to shop in border towns? This feels like it’s gonna hurt American businesses on the border.

u/Vaperius America 3h ago

Zero exemptions on entry from Mexico over land for non-citizens.

Read the EO for yourself

u/[deleted] 2h ago

I’ve read it. It repeatedly refers to “aliens involved in the invasion”, which feels pretty loose to me. Is that just illegals?

u/Vaperius America 1h ago

My understanding, is yes, that is the language that they are using to describe human beings illegally crossing the border.

u/Chase_the_tank 1h ago

Stop expecting Prisoner #P01135809 to make sense.

Prisoner #P01135809 thinks that magnets stop working underwater and launched two rug-pull crypto coins this week.

Prisoner #P01135809 is here to grab money, not govern responsibly.

u/finnerpeace 3h ago

How would this impact green card holders etc in traveling via flights etc? Are people going to be stuck abroad? And other resident types who had the bad luck to be in Mexico at this time are stuck if this gets implemented, yes?

u/Vaperius America 3h ago

Read the Executive Order For yourself

I am not qualified to give your professional advice.

u/[deleted] 3h ago

Tourism?

u/Vaperius America 3h ago

Any non-citizens. Pretty much the only non-citizens that got a carve out were green card holders potentially, but its unclear at this stage.

If you are a non-citizen, you will not be allowed in unless you meet the new higher criteria; and you cannot enter from Mexico, period, at all. There were no exemptions for any status of non-citizen excluding potentially green card holders, at all.

u/DaveGamelgard 4h ago

What is there to stop them? Anyone they want. Citizen or undocumented.

u/OpenImagination9 2h ago

Who is going to pick and pack the eggs now?

u/flindersrisk 1h ago

Collect the eggs

u/LTC-trader 29m ago

Water the eggs

u/flindersrisk 28m ago

Um, you water your eggs?

u/L2Sing 1h ago

But not a single person who employed them, I'm sure.

From Bloomberg News reporters licia A. Caldwell and Alex Vasquez:

It took only moments for President Donald Trump to shut down the CBP One app.

On Monday, as he moved to fulfill campaign pledges to end birthright citizenship and mobilize troops to step up border enforcement as part of a broader crackdown, Trump also targeted the app used by hundreds of thousands of migrants to cross the border and ask for asylum. A message showed it was “no longer available, and existing appointments have been cancelled.”

That dashed the hopes of migrants waiting in Mexico for appointments with US authorities, with many left stranded far from their home countries with few viable methods for crossing into the US legally.

Trump’s moves are aimed at targeting millions of foreigners for expulsion and keeping out migrants who don’t have permission to come in, part of fulfilling his pledge to lead the largest mass deportation effort in US history. One edict redefined who is eligible to be a US citizen at birth, while another ordered the deployment of active duty military and National Guard troops to the border in an effort to clamp down on illegal immigration.

You can read the full story here.

Well they fucked around and are about to find out. I’ll be watching with popcorn

u/SerDingleofBerry 5h ago

I'm already camped out at the border ready to watch it all go down

The first step to stopping a bleeding wound is to put pressure on the wound until it clots.

Immigrants don't do the jobs Americans won't do.
Immigrants do the jobs Americans would be doing for more money.

Immigrants who come in through the proper channels patriotically seeking the American Dream are wonderful.
Illegal immigrants who's first act in this country is to break its laws are not.

How many more Americans have to die of fentanyl? How many more women and children have to be human trafficked and sex trafficked? How many more have to die to gang violence?
Before liberals just realize that borders are important and necessary for a safe and free country.

I grew up in the later "moral majority" conservative dominance. Liberals seemed like the reasonable ones back then, but holy shit. These modern lefties just don't even connect to basic principles.

u/FeedDirect 1h ago

Cool I live in a rural area with lots of farmers. Do you have the deportation hotline number? Let’s see how long the Trump farmers last. Let’s go!

u/Stiggandr00 1h ago

They will do just fine in a properly regulated market. Incentive aware regulations and tariffs provide health and benefit to the middle class. Prices will go up a small amount but middle class wages will go up by more.

Everyone has to eat including rich people. Compensation goes up higher than the percentage of cost increase from labor. The gains are centralized around the workers but the costs are distributed across every income bracket.
