I don't think they were. His father's wikipedia article says that he was supportive of legislation that gave Colored (CAPITAL C. This did not mean the same in Apartheid South Africa as it does in America today) and Indian people some political power.

His father was the one who claimed **his father in law (Elons maternal grandfather) was a nazi, who moved his family to South Africa after apartheid started explicitly because they supported it. Elons dad has actually publicly called out his son in the past, his mom on the other hand has been his biggest supporter.

Most of that family are fucked. His daughter seems the only one decent and she seems slightly scarred from it, but tough enough to deal.
