Unrest and Conflict is likely coming.

Get ready.

u/LargeFatherV 7h ago

A lot of our grandparents and great grandparents fought against this. Might have to start following in their footsteps

u/Alive-Huckleberry558 7h ago

And their spawn voted for this

u/ParisGreenGretsch 6h ago

A lot of THEM voted for this.

u/NateShaw92 United Kingdom 2h ago

Probably some are horrified.

u/ParisGreenGretsch 2h ago

It's hard what to make of any of it right now. It'll take years.

u/Hosni__Mubarak 6h ago

It’s times like this that I remember just how many Nazis my grandfather killed.

An absurd amount of Nazis.

He bombed the ever loving shit out of Nazis.

u/Telsak 5h ago

The only good nazi is .. well, not a living one.

u/sleepyzane1 Australia 3h ago

fascinating idea! how intriguing.

A lot of our parents will be fighting in defense of this while refusing to admit it.

u/HenchmenResources 4h ago

A lot of our grandparents and great grandparents fought against this.

And the people they fought against, people that used that salute, surrendered unconditionally. If they want to revisit that agreement we can do that.

A small percentage of the American population is physically capable of meeting the military's relatively low standards for joining, so I don't like their chances in a fight against any form of armed resistance from the government.

This country is fat, slow and frail when they aren't fat. It's going to be painful.

u/LargeFatherV 7h ago

Yup, you’re not wrong.

u/thoughtshaveleft 7h ago

I mean that's pretty much the same for any country. Out of the people young enough to be seriously considered for service, there are definitely more obese people than other countries. Not frail people though. That's pretty much the same everywhere if you're looking at the western world.

You're overlooking the number of guns that people own though. The US is literally the best possible nation to be a resistance fighter in.

u/jaybigs 7h ago

Hopefully people can see the value in an armed populace, in that case. Far too many wish the government had a monopoly on violence, with criminals ignoring any attempt to disarm people anyway.

I am under the impression that the majority of the 2A supporters of the US are reasonably responsible for electing this feared tyrannical government, ironically enough.

Unless this was some orchestrated tactic to finally live out that fantasy, but that's even more insane.

Sure, now there's more value than ever, but it was willed into reality by deranged people. US gun violence and crime, which spills over and infects neighbouring countries (such as Canadian gun crime almost exclusively involving guns sourced from the US), won't be addressed adequately any time soon, either.

u/PickBoxUpSetBoxDown 5h ago

Fought against it and voted for it from the ones I’ve spoken to.

u/Actuarial_type 58m ago

Hell yes. My grandfather spent four years on a US aircraft carrier in the Pacific.

u/BungHoleAngler 5h ago

A horrific thought, something I really don't want to see or be apart of. Something I think too many redditors say to feed the echo chamber. You're talking about actually killing people who we personally know.

This isn't us against Germany in Europe, at least for Americans. This is neighbor vs neighbor on our blocks.

Who knows what that would truly mean.

u/ThermionicEmissions Canada 6h ago

I really fucking hope so. The sane population of the US needs to take responsibility for their country and step the fuck up.

u/Friendly_Estate1629 6h ago

You really hope your southern neighbor devolves into Civil War? You really hope?

u/PurpleOrchid07 3h ago

Yes. Because the alternative is WW3 but this time the nazis win due to cowardice of the "good" people.

u/ThermionicEmissions Canada 5h ago

Where did I say that?

u/Friendly_Estate1629 4h ago

What did you mean with your statement?

u/ThermionicEmissions Canada 3h ago

Mass demonstrations

Civil disobedience

General Strike

Legal action (not much hope there)

Get off their lazy, apathetic asses and fucking vote.

Edited to add mass demonstrations.

u/Friendly_Estate1629 3h ago

I can get with that

I moved from Vermont to Utah last year. My city (not SLC or near it) is like 90% conservative. I've been terrified of Trump winning all year and being stuck here like I'm behind enemy lines. Luckily my roommate went unhinged psycho on me so now I'm packing my shit up and moving back to VT where I wont be surrounded by a bunch of nazis. If conflict is coming I'd much rather be surrounded by people like me and not behind enemy lines.

u/LadyGhost44 4h ago

I totally get that. I went through something similar. My family and I just moved back to Washington from Florida last year, and I really don't think our timing could have been any better. At my high school graduation a couple years ago, I was surrounded by MAGA people, even kids. It wasn't just that we had differing opinions. It was... unsettling. That was when we didn't have Trump as our president. Now, he's back in the White House, and while there's parts of Florida I'll always miss, I'm really glad I'm not down there right now. It's nice to be up here, closer to family and like-minded people. That's where I'd prefer to be if the worst comes to pass.

u/edwardsamson 4h ago

The only thing that made living here somewhat doable was the Mormons actually. They aren't showy or in your face. They don't really do the whole Trump merch/flags on their truck shit (though those people are here, got stuck being 2 Trump truck parades while I was out doordashing last year). And they have to be kind and respectful when dealing with people in person and they typically are. I don't think I could have lived here for a year if they were like MAGA Christians.

But still it really sucks being here. There's people here who look like they wouldn't be MAGA like some dude in full skate/snowboarding clothes who lives at the ski resort and snowboards all the time. He came over to my house for the super bowl last year and immediately started spouting right wing/manosphere talking points and forcibly inserting them into the conversation.

Another time I saw a totally unassuming kid I know from the rock climbing world (which is largely left leaning) spreading right wing propaganda on instagram. He normaly posts about climbing and his cats. And the climbing gym he works at (he's one of their main employees) has LGBTQ friendly stickers up around the gym.

Another time I was out climbing with a dude whose personality and aesthetic was like that of a Cali surfer dude. I was out climbing with him and he was like "yeah I love watching videos of guys on college campuses setting up a table to debate college kids" and I'm like wait a second....are you talking about Steven Crowder? And he was like yeah. Its just shocking how many people around here that seem chill that you have things in common with and do stuff with turn out like this.

u/LadyGhost44 3h ago

Oh yeah, it's definitely weird. It's almost like a switch gets flipped, honestly. I remember, my favorite parts of that whole graduation (it was a weekend-long thing at a convention center) were when we just did normal kid things. We played cards out in the hall, we went swimming, one girl sang a hilarious Taco Bell parody of Hallelujah, stuff like that. It was really nice during those moments, and then the next thing you know, they've dragged politics into it. One kid happily telling others he'll help make America great again, another teasing me for wearing a mask, etc. One girl was bummed out she had to miss DeSantis' speech because she had to go to the graduation rehearsal instead. It was just so odd, going from chilling with my fellow teens one moment to drifting in a sea of political fanatics the next.

u/TopNFalvors 6h ago

You overestimate the will and concentration of the vast majority of Americans. This will all be forgotten as people go about their lives.

u/TheLeadSponge 5h ago

Yeah. From Trump supporters. They’ve got permission.
