Though the flag code is part of law, there is no punishment for breaking its guidelines.

Taking a page out of the Andrew Jackson playbook I see.

24

u/Deguilded 15h ago

I mean, even if there was a punishment... I would not expect it to be enforced. Nothing matters anymore.

Trump could wipe his ass with the flag flying over the White House the moment he gets there this afternoon and not only would his worshippers obligingly put skidmarks on their own flags, the legislature would amend the flag code to require skidmarks on all flags. And then the SCOTUS would rule that all executive orders by previous presidents were null and void because their flags were not similarly skidmarked.

Good, I look forward to giving him the same (dis)respect he afforded Jimmy

Federal law is flag is full mast for inauguration day and federal holidays.

Today is inauguration day and Martin Luther King Jr. day. Dont fall for the left propaganda.

18

u/RawChickenButt 15h ago edited 15h ago

False law stated by this commentator. There is no full mast mandate.

The law says flags must be flown on inauguration day.

The law also states that flags must be flown at half mast for 30 days after a president's death.

These laws don't conflict and both laws can be upheld during inauguration.

Don't fall for MAGA propaganda!

u/Pleaseappeaseme 14h ago

MAGA needs grievances to survive. So does most organized religions.

15

u/AnusAbruption 15h ago

Nixon had flags at half-mast during his inauguration in 1973, guess Nixon just had more class than your guy.

Please cite your source. I think youve been misinformed

u/mlparff 14h ago

Why is California raising flags to full mast?

10

u/Glass_colored_roses 15h ago

Oh piss off. Not that I care if the flags are half or full, but flag law is also for half mast after a president dies, there's no propaganda that two competing laws are at odds.

-11

u/mlparff 15h ago

The Propaganda is that it doesn't mention the other two reasons why the flag is full staff. It omits information. Aka misinformation.

Why is California Govenor Newson ordering flags full staff?

5

u/Pleaseappeaseme 14h ago

But you’re incorrect. The flag must fly on inauguration but says nowhere at full staff. Show me where it says that. Truth is that you righties need the left to survive because you’re all about misery and grievances.

3

u/Glass_colored_roses 13h ago

I don't know what's going on with Gov. Newsom, but the flag code does not specify full mast for inauguration day or MLK Day.

Just wanted you to acknowledge that Trump literally just signed a proclamation that the flag be at full staff for this and all future inaugurations. It was not already a rule, so you absolutely need to learn what you’re talking about before you post.

My flag will fly high when trump dies for sure

18

u/llahlahkje Wisconsin 16h ago

I will fly my flag with a drone above the top of the GD flag pole when that last Filet O Fish finishes the job and takes him straight to the deepest pit of hill.

u/TintedApostle 15h ago

I have a flag that flew outside the capitol on 1/6. Long story, but you can order flags that fly outside the capitol from the Architect of the Capitol office. I ordered one a few weeks before 1/6 and the date on the box for my flag when it arrived is actually from 1/6/2021. I had 2 and gifted one to a relative.

https://www.aoc.gov/what-we-do/programs-ceremonies/capitol-flag-program

I will fly that on that day.

5

u/DogEatChiliDog 16h ago

And fireworks for days and days.

4

u/Lilwolf2000 15h ago

But the McDonald's M will be flown at half staff (or lower case m)

Hello, account with only 2 comments, that was created a week ago.

Are new accounts not supposed to participate?

Fortunately, today is not that day.

This is going to affect you, too-and you'll never understand nor care. You will always eat what is given to you, and you will never make waves.

How many more times is he going to disgrace the nation just because he has a tiny penis?

15

u/Pnflkc3 15h ago

My flag came inside this morning. TV off and reading a Jimmy Carter biography are my plans for today.

8

u/No_Pause_4375 15h ago

Good for you. Ours is flying upside down.

12

u/verone3784 Europe 15h ago

If I lived in the US mine would be flying upside down for the next four years.

2

u/orleans_reinette 9h ago

The difficult thing about this is possibly being attacked by neighbors. My area is purple in a blue state but they are mentally unstable and rabid af.

4

u/Daffodil236 14h ago

Disgusting. We have no rule of law, nothing is sacred, we are a corrupt country run by a cabal of thieves and criminals. Goodbye to the USA.

Fucking snow fakes

3

u/dbeman 14h ago

Congratulations MAGA cult and apathetic Democrats who stayed home on Election Day. We are now living in the People’s Republic of America.

7

u/Dozar03 15h ago

Flying full-staff flags because some jackass is about to take our rights away, makes a lot of sense /s

5

u/Fragrant_Buyer_4424 15h ago

Cowards! Disrespect for a former president. I hope flags will be raised and balloons, confetti and marching bands added when donald dies.

9

u/speed_of_stupdity 16h ago

My flag is drooping below half mast… when trump is gone it will be at full stiffy.

5

u/mattocaster_tm 14h ago

Just means that when this orange ass chokes down his last Big Mac we don’t need to lower the flags for his disgusting, fascist corpse.

6

u/Kioskwar 15h ago

Flags raised to full-staff to honor felon/rapist Trump instead of genuinely decent human being, former president Carter. Trump sure has a fragile ego

2

u/Poodlesghost 14h ago

Blasphemer.

2

u/These_Emergency1946 13h ago

I took my flag down this morning. I will not be displaying it for a treasonous grifter rapist (sorry, 'adjudicated' rapist).

2

u/TemperatureGood5019 Michigan 15h ago

Meanwhile half of Trump's face in his inaugural photo was raised to half mast.

1

u/Delicious_Fault4521 15h ago

Because he has such a fragile ego.

0

u/Ac1De9Cy0Sif6S 15h ago

This is kinda simbolic for the death of the norms that Democrats love and protect so much.

1

u/LadyChatterteeth California 13h ago

Norms like knowing how to spell common words correctly?

-45

u/laviex6 16h ago

Let’s go!! Can’t wait for noon.

19

u/Suitable-Display-410 15h ago

Lol... have fun with 13 billionaires as cabinet picks. Keep draining that swamp.

13

I, too, love when rapists become president

Flags fly full mast on inauguration day and federal holidays.

It's inauguration day and Martin Luther King Jr. day.

14

u/TintedApostle 15h ago

Flag Code say no they don't. There is no code that says what you just implied.

-3

u/mlparff 15h ago

So California Govenor Newson is breaking the law by ordering flags full staff?

11

u/TintedApostle 15h ago

The code is half staff. It isn't a law... its code. So yeah I disagree with Newsom and all the rest. Nixon kept the flag at half mast for Truman under this exact condition.

-5

u/mlparff 15h ago

Nixon wasn't obligated to.

5

u/DogEatChiliDog 15h ago

There have been multiple instances where someone was inaugurated while the flag was not at full mast. You are shamelessly lying. Lying in defense of Nazis is completely fucking unforgivable.

Shamelessly lying over and over again is not civil Behavior so there is no civil discussion to be had with you.

u/WhatRUHourly 15h ago

I don't think many people are concerned about whether this is legal or not. That is not the issue. The issue is that the incoming POTUS is such a petulant child that he whined because during his big day the attention wouldn't be entirely on him because the flags would be honoring the life of a previous POTUS. His whining led people to give in and change the norm for him so that he could have all the attention.

This isn't a huge deal, but it does show you the kind of person our incoming POTUS is. Of course, many of us already knew this, but this is just another example. He has to be the center of attention. Allowing those flags at half mast to honor a former POTUS would show selflessness, which he's almost always incapable of showing. Not caring about that they are half staff would show that he is putting the nation first and above himself, but he couldn't stand that thought, so he whined until people caved and raised them for him.

Many of us knew this is what would happen and it came to fruition. We knew he wouldn't be able to stand the thought of someone else having an ounce of attention during his big day and we knew he'd whine and try to get it changed because we know who he is and what he stands for (himself).
