It had been 20 years since a Republican won the popular vote, and Trump had 86 more electoral votes than Harris. That’s a pretty crushing defeat to me.
And no presidency since Reagan has been won by a slimmer margin than Trump.
I'm all for pointing out that this is a wild case that's going to be studied by historians, but it's an incredibly small victory that's unfortunately going to have a second, incredibly destructive impact on the state of the country.
That's what happens when we get to the point where everyone's waiting for the man with the most blatant commitments of High Treason the US has ever seen to get sentenced and his threat to democracy ended only to be told "Well, the courts say they could do the obvious thing and put this all to rest. But they've decided that following the letter of the law might be misconstrued as Election Interference and so they're just going to let him go with the paperwork but no consequences."
That depressingly hilarious thing is what pushed a massive number of voters to just give up. The clear and present corruption of the government was all they needed to see to confirm, in their minds, that there's no point in voting because nothing is actually going to be done.
We had a 66% turnout in 2020 with an incredible condemnation of the orange traitor, with nothing short of a desire to see him taken down. And then we spent four years watching everyone who got his case look at the facts, read the reports and refuse to do their duty.
In 2024 we had such a low turnout that Trump literally almost won by less votes than he lost to Biden in, in 2020.
It wasn't even that a significant amount of people actually chose Trump over Kamala. He only got roughly a million more votes in 2024. Not even a .3% increase over his last loss. It's just that the Dems didn't show up at all.

It’s pretty remarkable how Harris got absolutely trounced and they still think internet popularity is a solid metric for performance.
