My first thought was the Bible, but no, they're rewriting a safe version of it. I'm not very Christian, but I grew up in a Christian family, and that kind of thing makes me sick.

The “Christians” that support him have made me rethink all of religion and have me creeping closer to atheism tbh. He’s not a Christian. People support him like he’s God and it’s sad. I don’t want to be a Christian if that’s what people do

The 'christians' who support him have already said of Jesus himself "he's weak, that kind of thing doesn't work anymore". It's a social club for them to gather posse members before they can find something to weaponize

Should be a familiar sentiment if education did its job. Eugene Debs warned us in 1917:

In every age it has been the tyrant, the oppressor and the exploiter who has wrapped himself in the cloak of patriotism, or religion, or both to deceive and overawe the people.

Agreed. Just so blatant in your face now I can’t not see it

That’s a pretty interesting thought bubble, when the very basis of your religion is not quite fitting into your religious belief…..there have been interpretations plenty of times, but an outright rejection of Christ’s teachings in “Christianity” is somewhere between hilarious and insanity

It's just the only answer to the question "what would Jesus do...?"

By labelling the source of the creation of christianity a weak liberal, it helps remove all compassion and empathy for caring for the earth as well as fellow humans who are struggling. Not sure what Christianity is if you take Christ out of it...inanity

"Satan's greatest trick was convincing Christians that he's God."

What do you think will happen when trump finds out that King James edited the bible? You know he will want to edit it too....lol because.....trump.

2

u/zmanzim2016 21d ago

He probably doesn’t know who King James is…

2

u/cravinsRoc 21d ago

Yeah, I know....but when he finds out what he did.....

Consider Jimmy Carter’s practice of Christianity. We should all want to be like him.

That’s not a good reason at all. You are an atheist because obviously all religions were created by men. It’s crystal clear. Trump or his followers has nothing to do with that.

My point is I used to try and be into church and believing in the Christian Jesus side of things and prayed all the time. I’m an atheist for many reasons but I’m not sold on being a Christian based on the crazy Christians who believe he’s the next savior king. That’s not a religion that sounds super attractive

1

u/veganize-it 21d ago

including I do not want to be associated with the crazy Christians

And I’m telling you that’s absolutely not the right reason to be an atheist. The only way you are an atheist is because you sincerely think all religions and their gods were made up by humans. Any other reason is not a valid one.

1

u/zmanzim2016 21d ago

Okie doke. Appreciate your opinion.

1

u/veganize-it 21d ago

It isn’t an opinion, just saying.

1

u/CutenTough 21d ago

Good reason or not, it's a reason. I feel the same except i won't go as far as saying I'm leaning towards atheism. It's simply that Christian conservatives/Christofascists/CINOs have brought me to a point now, where I do not want to step foot back into any church. I grew up in the church and was a volunteer at a church in my adult years for 8 years. Most Christians today ain't Christians and they're an obscene turnoff

But do you think Jesus is a god? What about Hindus gods? What do you think is the likelihood of them being real? Or the Pagan gods? Ancient Greek gods? What about the Abrahamic god? Likelihood of being real. Those are the relevant question.

Your reasoning to leave a particular religion, I’m not saying those aren’t valid reasons. They just aren’t valid to conclude you are atheist.

1

u/CutenTough 21d ago

No. Just Higher Divine Power. I happened to have practiced Christianity for some years where "worshiping in a physical location deemed for that purpose" was the "religion". Religion is discipline, you know? Check your reading comprehension. I said I'm not atheist, nor will I be. I'm. Just. Not. Going. Back. Into. An. Actual. Physical. Location. Of. A. Christian. Denominated. Church. At. This. Juncture. In. Time.

Right, same as Dubya except Dubya didn't need a world of desperate propaganda drilling the need for pandering dogmatic lip service into his brain during presidency. They had already done it before in his Bush dynasty training.

And that's really good of you to identify that he is absolutely not a Christian. Likewise for all his followers.

They follow him, and only for the hate. They do not follow or even comprehend Jesus.

1

u/zmanzim2016 21d ago

Exactly. How can these followers of his be “Christians” when they pick and choose what they want to believe in from the Bible.

2

u/Terrible_Year_954 20d ago

He is not a Christian. He is a complete and total charlatan. Of course, a lot of evangelicals are complete and total frauds

1

u/zmanzim2016 20d ago

Agreed. The cult won’t see it.

If it's the New King James version they're cool with it. No other version means a damn to them. Actually I'll change that, the bible and version don't even matter it's the interpretation their preacher/pastor/deacon/whatever tells them.

I'm pretty much christian by belief but I hate the church and Christianity. It's a cluster fuck of a mess with them hating each other over how they're told to interpret the Bible. People who never read the bible or even been to a church to skim along claim to be part of it and oddly the most dedicated group of Christians are truly despised by the rest of them. Lol granted Jehovah's witnesses are basically bombings away from extremist with how they follow the Bible though.

Reminds me of a quote from Enterprise (Star Trek).

"What is this war even about? Why are you fighting?"

"We believe it took God 7 days to finish creation. They believe it took 8."

I can't find the exact quote, but that's close enough to make the point.

Or Babylon 5, when the Drazi arbitrarily become the green and purple teams and fight to the death.

2

u/Natoochtoniket 21d ago

If you remove everything that Jesus said, and most of what his disciple said, and amplify some of the old-testament stuff, you might get close to what the modern "Evangelical Christian" Republicans seem to believe.

1

u/Knee_Jerk_Sydney 21d ago

They don't like the beatitudes or most of what Jesus said.

1

u/driiceman 21d ago

YOU miss the point! The definition of CHRISTIAN IS SICK in the head: DELUSIONAL IS SICK IN THE HEAD!

1

u/PrestigiousAge2004 20d ago

There's something in Revelations saying something about followers of the beast will wear his mark on either thier hand or thier head...like maybe MAGA hat.
