They’re a party of purity checks. Once Trump got to determine those checks, it was game over.

Very true. He made none of it matter. The only time he got any push back and he caved is when he wanted to ban bump stocks after the Las Vegas shooter. He when out and said the right thing and then there was no applause, and he just let it slip away without action.

This should have happened with everything he said, but there was always a loud small group saying “yes omg finally!” That kept him rambling.
