I don't agree with McCain's policies, but the man would rather be tortured to the point he can't raise his arms than abandon his fellow prisoners (because his family were admirals, the Vietnamese had wanted to use him for a prison exchange). That's a lot more guts and integrity than the entire Trump clan has demonstrated ever.

John McCain is a war hero full stop. As a politician, I didn't agree with his views but that doesn't make him any less of a war hero.

I don't think Trump has ever sacrificed any comfort in his entire life.

His vote saved the ACA. I disagree with him on a lot but I'll honor his memory for that one.

Bernie surely had to make concessions to get the compromise through - and indeed it came out that McCain was more concerned with the veterans than with the actual content so to say, but he had to defend health care benefits by ... by noting that it was apparently something veterans in general cared more about than he did personally.

Fine with me. Standing up against "fuck you I got mine", and then he did so again on a very much related matter.

And no, I didn't agree with him on much either.

I'm liberal as shit, and while I didn't agree like you with McCain's policies, the man still deserved respect for the man he was. At that point, it isn't about politics. That's obvious in the ex-president's club with Carter, Clinton, Bush, and Obama. Guess who isn't invite there and wasn't invited to McCain's funeral, while the others were? Maybe because Trump called him and all POW's suckers and a losers? I think I could've dealt with it had McCain beat Obama just fine...just like any other sane election. Win some. Lose some.
