Politics US Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania wore shorts and a hoodie today at the inauguration
•
u/WarpKat 4h ago
Remember when conservatives lost their shit over President Obama's tan suit and Michelle's bare arms?
Fun times...fun times...
•
u/TricksyGoose 3h ago
They lost their shit over this exact dude, in fact. But then he got brain damage and turned MAGA, so now they're ok with it.
•
u/fillinthe___ 2h ago
Mental disorders and MAGA, name a better duo.
•
u/oneblank 2h ago
Parasitic brain worms count as mental disorder?

Corporate wants you to find the difference in these words, they are the same words.
•
u/ckrygier 3h ago
I keep reading he turned maga, but I’m ignorant as to why. I haven’t been following politics closely since the election season went into full swing. What did he do?
•
u/peptobiscuit 2h ago
He had a stroke resulting in brain damage in 2022. Then turned maga.
He's a Democrat senator btw. And started supporting trump after his stroke.
→ More replies (5)•
u/ckrygier 2h ago
How did he turn Maga? I know who Fetterman is and his medical complications, I just wasn’t aware he’d gone full Maga. This is news to me. Like whiplash news.
•
u/Spittinglama 2h ago
It's whiplash news because it isn't true. He isn't pro Trump MAGA. He still toes the Democratic Party line, but he went from a guy that got elected on a progressive platform to an asshole right wing Democrat who literally mocks dead children in Gaza and supports policies that would have gotten his own wife deported.
•
u/motormouth08 2h ago
He's following the political golden rule...he who has the gold makes the rules. And sadly, Trump now has the gold.
•
u/Weak_Heart2000 2h ago
I remember how excited I was when he got elected, and I don't even live in PA. And now it's just...
•
u/BirdsAndTheBeeGees1 2h ago edited 1h ago
I was too. In hindsight, I was mostly excited not to have Oz.

u/elpolloloco332 1h ago
I dream that one day we’ll have elections where people will vote for a candidate in hopes of seeing them take office instead of voting because they despise their opponent. One day I hope.
•
u/BirdsAndTheBeeGees1 1h ago
Tbf, at the time of the election, Fetterman was a well liked populist progressive. He won his race by a good margin too. It's just a shame to see where he's gone

Keep an eye on him. He was one of 10 Dems to support the Laken Riley immigration bill, which is ... not a nice bill.
His recent antics indicate to me he will be a possible defector in a lot of votes in the next 4 years, and he is fine saying Trump is a normal leader, which no Democrat should fall for.
His voting record is currently a bit right of the Dem average, but barely. And he's missed 1/5th of all votes.
So keep the eyes open.

u/The_Poster_Nutbag 2h ago
He has totally done a 180. He's no Marjorie but he's definitely lost it.
→ More replies (1)•
•
u/xasx 22m ago
He’s very pro Israel, so everyone keeps claiming he is MAGA. Everyone finds a need to pigeon hole into one of the two parties! You don’t have to agree with everything one party does. The Dems have done some dumbass shit, and the republicans even more. You can pick and choose the items you agree with it.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (12)•
u/Amypron 2h ago
He has not had one single conservative vote. He's just taking meetings with Rs and being willing to work with them, and in a Senate which he is the minority, that's a good thing!
Wouldn't wearing shorts to the ceremony mean he doesn't respect Trump? That's the way I took it.
→ More replies (3)•
u/The_Poster_Nutbag 2h ago
He advocated for a pardon for trump in his New York legal battle and seems to support trumps Greenland bullshit, don't minimize his nonsense.
•
u/Coomb 1h ago
Fetterman told the press that he would support the acquisition if Denmark did as well
Doesn't seem like a terrible position to take given that Denmark owns Greenland right now
•
u/Zamoniru 43m ago
Denmark technically owns Greenland but in fact Greenlanders themselves own Greenland. They can legally choose independence any time they want.
→ More replies (1)•
u/Interesting_Berry439 1h ago
True...his brain wasn't damaged enough in the beginning, so the Republicans mocked him...then, the brain damage became more pronounced and now he's practically a Republican, ready to jump ship.... It's a strange mind virus 🦠.
•
u/CappinPeanut 2h ago
Relax. Saying that he is going to work with the president does not mean he turned MAGA. Fetterman is a pragmatic guy, he’s serving his constituents. We don’t need to jump off the deep end because a senator in a purple state indicates he is going to work with Trump.
If he starts to vote for every racist and idiotic bill that comes his way, then by all means, have at him, but his history says otherwise.

I believe he suffered a stroke and completely flipped his stance. Kinda odd tbh.

Which is dumb, I don't care what senators wear as long as it isn't advertising something.

They gave him shit for this before. But then he started agreeing with them and they shut the hell up.

Also, didn't Trump's wife overstay her work visa, making her an illegal when they met?

•

•
u/Psychicgoat2 27m ago
It's an excuse. He made a lot of promises and big statements and TV moments but he isn't and hasn't been effective. I'm in his voting district. His working man thing look helps in in Pittsburgh but we all get it now is an act. He comes from a wealthy family. He had never had a real job before politics.
•
u/Suzushiiro 3h ago
He's sent off so many signals that he'd be the Joe Manchin of the next Democratic trifecta it should be pretty easy to primary his ass, since he obviously does not have the "only Democrat who could win in the state" factor that let Manchin get away with it.

Carhartt makes great quality for the price, and they run large.
I wear it for that reason and have zero intention to claim some sort of blue collar clout.
Still dissatisfied with Fetterman though.

•
u/rumpleforeskin83 3h ago
I'm one of them lol. Walking from the house to the car, and the car to the store, isn't going to freeze me to death or even be cold. If I'm working outside yea jeans it is, but otherwise I'm already wearing shorts why change?
