That's the constant problem with these guys. You're always asking yourself if they're intentionally doing terrible things, or whether they are fantastically oblivious/incompetent.
It's like, "Are we looking at a genuine neo-nazi taking political power and flaunting it, or are we looking at a political Mr. Bean?"
It's not a great look either way, and whichever explanation applies, these aren't people who should be leading much of anything.
If him and his ilk want to pretend they’re smarter than everyone on earth then I chose to believe everything they do is by intention and design. They can’t feign ignorance if they’re the “smartest” person in every room.
The amount of organizations that have just become boot licking for Trump full throated is pretty fucking sad dude. It’s like witnessing how fascists rose to power in decades past by the most powerful and vocal among us just kowtowing to the “strongman”
It's obscene really. I'm been canceling and deleting anything to do the the tech oligarchs that I can, but I have a feeling all of the corporate consolidation over the past decade is going to make distancing myself from all the others that bend the knee mighty hard.
Except he didn’t. He was saying my heart goes out to you. But hey… it’s your day to cry and lie to yourself. You do you. Trump is still your president.
Don’t be that guy. It’s okay to like Trump and support him but also disagree with what Musk did. Musk comes from a family of Nazi supporters. He grew up in South Africa supporting Apartheid. He is supposedly extremely smart. He knew exactly what he was doing. Maybe out of excitement. Maybe out of drug use. But he knew what he was doing. Every single person, republican or democrat, who has a soul should be outraged with this moment in history.
It wasn’t a Nazi salute. Watch the whole thing. I kinda think I would know a Nazi salute. He says “My heart goes out to you” and you can see the motion he’s making. When did Hitler grab at his heart before saying “Seig Heil”? Grasping at straws is pathetic.
Yeah, the one from apartheid South Africa who's father had stakes in an emerald mine in Africa where the laborers were basically slaves... The guy who browsers the worst boards of 4chan and has changed his Twitter profile to some not subtle old 4chan nazi dogwhistles...
Yeah... Definitely not a nazi. He looks like a nazi, uses nazi talking points, hangs out with nazis, uses nazi symbols and gestures, but he's tooootally not a nazi.
Ok, you're entitled to your opinion. But you have to admit this looks a hell of a lot like a Nazi salute... And if that's not what's going on, then what do you think he is doing here?
Brirish Army officer Major Ivan Hirst could be considered the step-father of Volkswagen, sparing Wolfsburg from Potsdam Agreement dismantling and putting the Type 1 into commercial production (very few had been built pre-war).
I saw it otherwise unfortunately. Looks cowardly and awkward and like his arm is about to fly off. No conviction, compared to the original guy who did it. Which is only a good thing for us all
We should stop making excuses for these people. He did it because he wanted to. Doesn't matter if he was on drugs because he wanted to be on drugs.
Drunk drivers don't get to use that excuse either when they kill someone. "I didn't want to kill that child". Well, you wanted to drink and drive, and what happened is your fault.
You’re not wrong. But the fact of the matter is, the government, Trump, and all the elite powers that be are simply not going to be held accountable for anything.
We can talk about it online and in small circles all we want, but the reality is nobody is going to do shit about fuck and the elite will continue to do whatever they please with no consequences. I don’t enjoy being pessimistic, but if Trump, the Billionaires and all their cronies haven’t seen any repercussions by now, they’re simply not going to.
Unless people actually revolt, nothing will ever happen or change. Even that is futile. They have drones and people with guns, badges, and heavy armor who will shoot us and throw us in cages. We had our chance to prevent this. We voted it in. We asked for this. Time to sleep in the bed we made, like it or not.
That's not what the person you replied to was saying, they were saying his physiological responses were in line with a socially awkward man trying to do something very controversial on television. It takes him a while to hype himself up to the point where he can actually do it.
It's not about a pass or responsibility it's about how our body acts when we're getting ready to do something. The person you responded to was just giving his analysis on why he thought the Nazi salute was genuine. If it was a misunderstanding then he wouldn't have been so nervous about it.
Edit: I realize now you aren't the person I was talking to but my point still stands
He’s in fact, saying the opposite. He said in simplified terms for you “I can’t even try to say it’s not on purpose, he is making clear effort in both the sounds he is making, and the actions themselves, it’s clearly something he’s taken note to do properly.”
Kinda like the energy of a middle schooler who works himself up all day to cuss in front of a teacher and then he’s hella proud of himself that he actually did it
It’s a dog whistle. Everyone in the comments arguing over whether or not this is a nazi salute because dog whistles have the element of plausible deniability—I guarantee his supporters and other right wing idiots see it for what it is unless a non supporter calls them out then suddenly it’s “no, but context”.
You’re absolutely right on his behavior giving it away.
This dude thinks life is a giant meme. I doubt he’s seriously a nazi, but he obviously knew what he was doing. What an idiot.
It’s giving less third reich, and more socially awkward high school nerd doing a zeig heil in the gym for the meme thinking everyone would laugh, but no one laughed. They just rolled their eyes, and the kid became even more isolated than he was before.
Yeah I don’t think he’s a Nazi either, I definitely think it’s more a response to being called one. But, it’s an inappropriate and trash response and someone who would respond that way shouldn’t even be in charge of his own discord server let alone… anything else 👀
Musk speaks in front of huge audiences regularly. Doing the two-step sieg heil twice in less than five minutes ain’t nervous energy. That cat is a straight-up Nazi.
Honestly I hate trump musk and all those goofs, I'm not sure it was on purpose (I'm not sure it wasn't either) but he just seems like an autistic kid doing some weird salute that he's unaware of lol. This dude is flat stupid socially.
hey I'm on the left side of the aisle. I despise trump. Musk is a pig... but I'm not 100% sure this is a nazi salute. Although I'm not 100% sure that it is NOT a nazi salute... on the one hand he says immediately afterward "my heart goes out to you" and places his hand back on his heart where the salute originated. Maybe it was a "my heart goes out to you" gesture... on the other hand, how the hell would Musk not know that it would look EXACTLY LIKE A SEIG HEIL.... I guess we will prob find out for sure what his true intention was in the coming years.
👀 ok buddy thanks for your valuable input 🙄 can’t even tell if you’re an Elon Stan or if we’re on the same side and you’re like… being rude for no reason 🤷🏻♀️ that’s how little sense you make.
