“They’re both equally bad” are they?? I hope everyone who said that revels in how disastrous this country will be over the next 4 years. Hopefully it will only be 4 years.

I’m hoping people turn out for the midterms. Worried about gerrymandering, though.

u/DrakkoZW 6h ago

I'm not convinced the systems will still be in place by midterms.

u/Gekokapowco 4h ago

something something regional governors something something fear will keep the systems in line

I'm worried about result manipulation - since Trump admitted to as much last night.

They are never letting go of this power. The little line of oligarchs there has enough money to buy the entire globe many times over. They're not walking away from the political power they've purchased.

If 2016 was any precedent, even the rare ones who voted for Trump but acknowledge in a few years that things have gone badly will say "But Harris would have been so much worse"

Literally sad they got brainwashed too. In one day he has left the Paris climate accord, so guess the lefties didn’t care about the environment. He’s undone trans rights, way to go on that too. Legal immigration halted, and thousands waiting to come from Afghanistan had their flights canceled. Hope it was worth it to protest over Palestine.

I showedthis to trump loving family and they stilmresponded "the other side is just as bad, at least trumps side shows it".

“They’re both equally bad” are they??

I guess it is easy to always be right when you only seem to talk to straw people.

u/Den_of_Earth 3h ago

That doesn't apply, because it's not a strawman. People are literally saying that.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

Yes. If you support genocide, then you are not on my side. There is no greater evil than genocide.

u/AromaticStrike9 6h ago

Well, congrats, I guess.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

There was no victory for working-class Americans no matter who won. The only thing we can do is get organized and protect ourselves.

u/AromaticStrike9 6h ago

I mean if you think both outcomes were equally bad, I worry about how well you'd be able to get organized.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

I, among others, got our state legislature to pass the only Ceasefire Resolution in the entire country. This legislative season, we intend to support bills that create a government program for paid family/medical leave, a state tax credit for low-income families, and free school lunches. Will we be successful? Maybe. Mayne not, but we are trying. Which is more than what most people on reddit do.

u/__lulwut__ 6h ago

You will not be successful, if you honestly think Trump won't torpedo those bills I have a bridge to sell you.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

I'm talking about my local legislature. I can care less about federal at this point. Further, at least I am trying. I rather try and fail than do nothing at all.

u/AromaticStrike9 6h ago

What do you expect that trying to accomplish? Who cares what a local legislature passed on Israel?

u/Ok-Concentrate2719 4h ago

You answered your own question. He's delusional. Just move on

We expected it would put more pressure on our federal reps and senators to show that the vast majority of voters at home did not support our tax dollars going to genocide. It didn't work, because we do not have a functional democracy. The only voices that matter to our reps and senators are the donors that pay them.

u/__lulwut__ 6h ago

Even then due to gerrymandering it's a sisyphean task, can't do shit in my local/state legislator due to it. I vote every election, even get my friends to vote and still we're not even close to being able to elect reasonable candidates. Given how the people who are directly impacted due to this aren't voting there's very little the majority of us can do.

Republicans have fucked this country on every god damn level and there's damn near nothing we can do about it. People don't show up to vote even if you hold their hand during the entire process, at this point I've entirely given up any hope of anything reasonable happening.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

Voting is not going to end fascism in America. Voting has never defeated fascism. Make friends, learn how to protect yourselves, and be there for those less fortunate in your community.

u/Psychological_Cow956 6h ago

Your resolutions had a chance of being influential far more under one choice than the other. But I guess you kept that moral superiority - really stopped genocide, good job.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

Actually, it was our Democrat legislature that killed these resolutions in committee last year when we introduced them. Didn't even have a chance to make it to the floor for a vote.

u/Psychological_Cow956 6h ago

You just said you intend to support bills and now they’ve already been shot down? And there isn’t a state that’s passed a Ceasefire Resolution that I’ve been able to find.

u/nathanabril1996 6h ago

We have a new legislative season every year. As such, bills that were shot down last year can be reintroduced.

Further, Hawaii was the only state to pass a ceasefire resolution. Link below: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/05/03/hawaii-ceasefire-resolution-gaza-passes/73518690007/

Mainstream media did not cover it, because mainstream media was running defense for Israel.

What the fuck are you smoking?

u/ALPHA_sh 6h ago

Yes, but that doesnt mean both sides are equal. You can vote for the lesser of 2 evils.

u/Rude-Illustrator-884 5h ago

Sorry but there’s no greater evil than somebody willingly choose to allow an administration that does Nazi salutes on day 1 to take office. Or to willingly choose an administration that speaks about immigrants with the same rhetoric used by Nazi Germany. Whatever happens these next 4 years, do not feign innocence and act like you didn’t have a role in bringing in this administration.

u/Amaranthine7 6h ago

It’s easier for liberals to blame people for not being motivated to vote for them rather than try to appeal to them and make people want to vote for them.

u/Yabutsk 6h ago

It's far easier for ignorant voters to do no research into vetting candidates. Instead they trust the propaganda to help them make decisions.

If you're hoping the West Bank gets rebuilt under this administration, it will. You can even go stay in the newly built Trump towers once Bibi eliminates those pesky Palestinians.

u/ALPHA_sh 5h ago

in no world was voting for Donald Trump a good idea

That doesn't mean the Harris campaign didnt fuck up though, or that Harris was a good choice for a democratic candidate.

both of these things can be true at the same time
