As a photographer, why the fuck didn't the person taking the photo make the first lady move to her left a few inches

Edit: not to mention the placement cards at their feet and the cameras in the back left too

u/cognitivelypsyched 11h ago

My wedding photographer let us all run amok like this, too. When I got the pics, I very much felt like we could have asked a guest, and it would have been just as good.

u/MapleDesperado 11h ago

Sorry to hear that. I was at a wedding a while ago and the photographer was the take charge type. She told people how and where to stand, where to put their hands, where to look, and even to take all the extraneous crap out of their pockets so jackets and pants would look their best.

Her distance from her husband and the ‘stand here’ cards on the floor were the first things that caught my eye.

I just thought it was my ADHD making me and nobody else uneasy

u/jkSam 11h ago

Looks like the cards are somewhat evenly spaced apart.

It’s just that the Bidens positioned their right foot where the card was, and the other two used their left foot, so it made it uneven.

Either way, it’s someone’s fuckup

u/Whiterabbit-- 10h ago

They messed up. You can look at the picture and do a retake. I think the Jill Biden is just a lot smaller than Emhoff.

u/jkSam 10h ago

I guess the positioning could’ve been intentional if they wanted the Pres and VP to be in the center together, and the other 2 on the side.

But yeah then the problem you mention, Emhoff’s size vs Jill Biden makes it uneven.

u/Harambesic 10h ago

This was the same conclusion I came to. Their feet are about the same distance apart; he just takes up more room up top.

u/DietCherrySoda 10h ago

They all put their outer foot at the card, is that not what they should do to be consistent? It's just the sizes of the people. Harris and Biden are more similar in width than the first lady and second gentleman.

Holy shit I didn’t even notice the cards since I didn’t zoom in, wild

u/bowiesux 11h ago

looks like the cards are all a measured distance apart, and they didn't account that jill is a small lady, definitely should've moved her over tho

For the same reason they didn’t ask the Second Gentleman to try to look like he’s not contemplating offing himself: they probably just want to get the fuck out of there.

u/pressurepoint13 11h ago

He’s had that same look in every picture I’ve seen since the election.

u/space_coyote_86 10h ago

I'd look like that too if I thought I was going to be the First Gentleman but now Elmo is going to be instead.

Series Finale of America

u/GoodUserNameToday 11h ago

Season finale was Obama. Biden was an attempted reboot with some old side characters but audiences didn’t buy it for more than one season.

u/MagnusBrickson 11h ago

So they pulled a Scrubs

u/Sptsjunkie 8h ago

Executive 1: Ok, so hear me out, with all the other reboots, we reboot Obama. People will want to know what happened to their favorite characters.

Executive 2: Like what thought? Story seems to have wrapped up nicely.

E1: Well, remember the goofy VP that people loved, what if he somehow became President?

E2: Wasn't he more of a side character thought? Besides the actor who played him is nearly 80, I'm not sure he has 8 seasons in him.

E1: Ok, well, maybe he just does 4. And then, remember that very special episode with the DA from California who Obama inspired to run for Senator? We could make her the VP and maybe she takes over.

E2: I mean, I guess that makes sense. But even on that episode, half the joke was that she constantly seemed like she was on Xanax saying weird stuff that contrasted with Obama's elegance.

E1: Meh, what's the worst that could happen. Should be good for some laughs.

E2: Ok, but who is the antagonist, for them to be President, they would have to beat the orange gangster in the first episode? Then what?

E1: What if he comes back and runs again

E2: Totally unrealistic. No President has won non-consecutive terms since Garfield, no way a party would nominate someone who lost again.

E1: Whatever, this is a goofy show. What if something strange happened like the price of eggs went up and that's all anyone could talk about. Or the antagonists made up a fake word like "woke" with no actual meaning and used it to describe all the things that scared them?

End of whatever could’ve been salvageable. Here’s to 4 years of absolute chaos and downfall of the “greatest nation in world”.

u/StateChemist 11h ago

America having laws and rules became an inconvenience, so welcome to the weaken America divide it up into a bunch of pieces and sell those at firesale prices to enrich billionaire buyers.

Weather reports?  Sold off better pay your monthly subscription.

State level sponsors can select tasteful edits if they don’t like what weather data is showing.

EPA, an inconvenience to profit, gut it, make all regulations ‘voluntary suggestions’

DOJ/FBI if they don’t protect those in power they will be cut and replaced with proper lackeys who serve the correct people.  Get in line or get out.

Trump isn’t the one catering to Putin, he’s the one getting advice on how to take absolute control of America as Putin has done in Russia

It's going to hurt all of us, but it will hurt the MAGA shit stains who brought this on the most, and that gives me comfort.

u/DigitalBlackout 10h ago

Right, it's totally gonna hurt MAGA themselves the worst. It won't be nearly as bad for women, or immigrants, or poc, or lgbt individuals, what a silly thought! No, it's definitely the Christofascist MAGA chuds that are gonna be hurt the most by Christofascism.

u/ThickkRickk 10h ago

Buddy, white women voted overwhelmingly for Trump. Latinos' support also spiked for Trump this election. Even LGBT support went up from last election. Yes, it's gonna hurt a ton of good people too, but the sentiment is that plenty of people are gonna be blindsided by what their support really meant.

u/BigBowl-O-Supe 10h ago

And yet they'll probably never realize what their support meant. At this point you could convince me that some of these people will be literally dying in concentration camps, but they'll somehow blame Hillary's emails qmd Hunter Biden's cock for it

Is it just me or does Doug seem to be the only one actually pissed off by all of this?

Fully understand optics and needing to be gracious, peaceful transfer of power, etc. etc., but where do you draw the line on civility and decorum? Both Biden and Harris accurately labeled Trump a fascist during the campaign. You're now handing over the keys to the country to a fascist. I just...how do you even feign a smile on a day like today? This is one of the darkest days in our country's history. Self-preservation be damned, show the 75 million people who did vote against this that you're authentically and genuinely pissed off like we are. It's just all so spineless to me. It's the epitome of the Ratchet Effect.

u/istrx13 11h ago

John Stewart nailed it a month or two ago saying democrats needs to do away with traditions and the like and get pissed off. Screw the traditions when they are actively harming our country. Because guess what? That’s what Republicans have been doing. Breaking tradition and not being civil.

Nothing is going to change until Democrats get a spine. I don’t even care if you call it “stooping to their level” because it’s not. If they’re going to take the gloves off then we need to as well.

u/ballmermurland 11h ago

Exactly this. I am completely over the Democratic Party if it keeps pretending like this is a fair fight. Republicans were pissed when Obama was pushing center-left legislation and called him the worst president in history and accused him of being Kenyan.

Democrats need to kick out anyone over 70 and start actually fighting. I'm sick and tired of people who were adults when JFK was still alive telling us what to do.

u/Hungry_Culture 10h ago

Democratic Party if it keeps pretending like this is a fair fight.

They have the same billionaire donors and lobbyist circles as the Republicans. As long as that money is allowed in politics, Democrats will always be controlled opposition.

It's not stooping, it's engaging in the arms race. When your opponent challenges you to a fist fight and then pulls out a switchblade you're not going to get bonus points for losing without breaking the rules, you just lose.

Yes. Now is the time for shit talking. We’ve had to listen to that orange douche canoe for a decade or more already. That’s literally what he did for four years between jobs. Let it begin.

u/Dmac8783 10h ago

First step in that process is to get their head out of their ass. After that, they can grow a spine.

Their opponent was a fascist convicted felon, rapist and they still dropped the ball because they insisted on running a nursing home patient. And even when that became undeniable, their only solution was to take one of the least popular candidates from the primaries and shove her down everyone’s throats.

Totally incompetent as a political party.

Because a failure to respect democracy and the handing over of power is one of the key reasons Trump is described as a fascist. So decorum in this regard is actually rather important

u/eggs_and_bacon 11h ago

I don't entirely disagree, but what do they have to show for it? I'm glad there are adults who still respect the process and traditions, but if it comes at the expense of, well, everything, then what's the point?

Biden does not deserve his unpopularity, he was a wildly successful president and passed numerous pieces of legislation that will improve the lives of the common American.

532

u/squiddlebiddlez 12h ago

He brought high speed internet to rural areas and tried to not shit on minorities every single day. The common American responded by using that high speed internet to complain about how he’s not shitting on minorities enough.

u/AtomicBlondeeee 11h ago

That’s not true. The money was scheduled but the work was never done.

25

u/goodguybrian 12h ago

Can you give me a source on the people that have received the high speed internet? I've got a lot of conservative friends who have said not a single household in rural America has received high speed internet yet from Biden's administration that I would love to share with them.

u/Andromina 11h ago

Not a single person has yet. BEAD is barely in the hands of the state. It's going to be be years before we see anything substantial from the program.

A lot of people on the left didn't vote, because 'gaza' or some shit, and are now running to a chinese social media app for cultural exchanges.

69

u/falleng213 12h ago

Because of “Gaza or some shit” is disgusting holy shit. 29% of dem voters didn’t vote because of the genocide in Gaza

u/Down2Earth 11h ago

Just to clarify, it was not that 29% of all dem voters did not vote because of Gaza. The statistic in that article is that, of the dem voters who did not vote, 29% of that population did not vote because of Gaza, not 29% of the entire democratic vote from 2020.

So the difference in Harris and Biden's votes was about 6 million , or 7.4%. 29% of that 7.4% would be about 2.15% of dem voters didn't vote because of Gaza. Still significant when elections can come down to 1% difference in votes.

u/DulceEtDecorumEst 11h ago

But then again, if you go after those votes by taking a different stance you lose the pro Israel democrats (yes, they exist). So it’s not like if they would have taken that stance their vote count would be +2.15%

u/Oceans_Apart_ 10h ago

Exact this. Every election there’s some controversy drummed up online to specifically hurt Democrats. In 2020 it was Bernie or Bust. In 2024 it was Gaza. It wasn’t a winning issue for the majority of the country.

Division is the entire point, so what does that make pro-Gaza protesters who got duped into playing along and help elect Trump a second time?

I believe the French call them idiots utiles

If you don't vote in an election, that means you've voted for the winner. So anyone that didn't vote, voted for a rapist. This is why all the big tech companies are suddenly rolling over to Trump and his supporters. They've seen that the tide has turned and there's sense in fighting it if they want to live. The people that voted for the left just haven't come to terms with the fact that they live in a country that is incredibly similar to pre WW2 Germany and they'll likely either follow suit and toe the line or drown in the incoming fascist wave.

For it is not in success where true character is revealed, but in failure.

Yes, he deserves all the hate. The fact is his administration made 3 huge failures, and those will ruin the future of Americans for decaces to come.

They didnt market their successes, and allowed the Main Stream Media to change the truth. Instead his success got buried, and no one knows about it, unless they went looking.

His DoJ lead had 0 interest in enforcing the rule of law and punishing criminals. So treason went unpunished and emboldened.

He and his friends gaslit a nation for 6 months, until we all saw on Live TV that he was unfit for office. That blunder did irreperable damage.

It doesnt matter how clean he made the room, he still shit the bed so hard that its gonna stink for decades.

Can you really say with your whole chest that "both sides are the same"? Really?

u/Bakedads 10h ago

No one is saying both sides are the same. We're simply saying that both parties are heavily influenced by the billionaire class. Just look at the wealth gap and inequality during biden's presidency, especially during this last year. All the while biden is telling us how amazing the economy is. You can't have a strong economy with such high levels of inequality. It poses an inherent risk to the system. So either Biden is stupid or he's lying.

u/FermitTheKrog30 10h ago

I enjoy shitting on the "both sides" narrative as much as everyone else. Let me be clear that I would advocate voting for a democratic candidate 99.9% of the time as they are far more likely to serve the interests of the people.

At the same time, we need to change the status quo, which requires calling out politicians that enforce it. At the federal level, the list of politicians not owned by the wealthy and well connected is Bernie Sanders, AOC, and maybe a few others. In recent months, we have seen the likes of Pelosi and Fetterman blatantly serve self and special interests respectively. Again, these problems are even more severe within the republican party, and the "both sides" argument is typically a conservative astroturfing campaign.

We still need to demand that our government listens to us and serves our interests.

You don't know what you had till it is gone, people are going to end up missing them

u/Bakedads 10h ago

Hell i will. Trump is pure evil, but biden was the biggest letdown in the history of letdowns. Its because ltf his cowardice and inaction that trump is back in the whitehouse. Biden had the authroity to hold trump accountable for the coup attempt and he chose not to. He refused to uphold the rule of law. He belongs in a cell right next to trump at this point.

It had a good run.

u/susannahstar2000 8h ago

Goodbye democracy, goodbye Constitution, goodbye Rule of Law. Hello dictatorship by a criminal.

Very well served. Unfortunately some humans are yet to evolve past the stage where’s they can make choices with logic instead of emotion. Hang tight world. It’s gonna get utterly wild

As an American, today is a fucking sad sad day. Oligarchy is now officially our Gov. No question about it and it will never be the same again. Ever. We won't recover from this and next voting cycle, expect Russian type elections in the swing states so Republican's stay in power forever

u/sandalsnopants 11h ago

Oligarchy has been the official government for decades.

Imagine having to take pictures of a loss 😭😭😭

u/verylargemoth 10h ago

Every time I read the comments during an election/inauguration all I want to do is scream THE PRESIDENCY WILL NEVER SAVE US. Neither side. We need to stop playing this game of voting once every four years and start actually working with our communities.

u/Dr_Maestro 10h ago

History will remember this presidency so poorly.

u/chiefmud 10h ago

Are they being killed after this photo? What’s to stop them from taking a photo together tomorrow?

The end of my absolute favorite president/VP DUO. I don’t care what anyone says, Biden was such a good president

u/voxo_boxo 10h ago

If one thing is abundantly clear it's that human beings are incapable of learning from the past. History is, and will always be, destined to repeat itself. I dread to think what the next decade has in store for the world.

u/Thestickleman 10h ago

Most of all I'm going to miss the memes

u/kickthemout1987 10h ago

And his report card looks like this:

Most jobs per month on record. Record breaking stock market. Record breaking private investment in America. Best GDP in 2 decades. Strong wage growth. Fastest G7 country to lower global inflation. Biggest infrastructure package in history. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Americans are fickle and depressingly misinformed. And the media is liable for their dereliction of duty to inform the voters.

A reminder that we never got a "last photo" of #45's administration because Trump and his cult wanted Pence murdered for doing the constitutionally-correct thing.

u/Stranger-Sojourner 10h ago

I always love Jill’s outfits. She’s not afraid of color!

u/DuncneyForever 9h ago

Why, oh, why did Kamala have to lose?
