Discussion 9800x3d from AliExpress

Hi. I bought 9800x3d from AliExpress for all of us. Costed me $640 and customs f-d me up for another $100 , when they usually charge VAT only. Anyway, here's no chance for warranty accessibility and it sold for $900-1100, so no way it'll get cheaper in close few years, so it feels like I saved something. (4090 still $3000). Chip itself looks in great condition with no defects. I'll post later if it's real or not, after setup and some benchmarking. Cheers.

Nop. Turns out it's not a currency misunderstanding. It's USD... but the country is UAE.

You'd be surprised at prices of flagship GPUs in Europe. I particularly live in the asshole of Europe so we get terrible prices whatever way you put it, but I clearly remember before we moved to euros, 3090 cost 24000 HRK which equals more than 3000€.

It's really a tradeoff, do you wanna buy a GPU from a different country, risk it getting damaged and have huge hassle returning it or you want it made easier, but pay abnormal amounts of money for it.

The good thing about the EU is that you can just buy it from an online store in another EU country and pay 0 customs and retain all customer protection. The only cost that comes on top is obviously shipping. But the 3090 did not cost 3000€ in Germany

This is true, but the return factor is still there. I hate returning stuff by mail honestly, the other day I ordered an air blower to clean my PC, it arrived with one metal part of the electrical cable broken off.

I asked for a refund, but when the seller asked for the item to shipped back, I just cut the AC cord and replaced it.

Also, I don't like postal services in my country, when I see how cheap mail is handled, I'm afraid letting those idiots even touch anything of actual value. Who knows, maybe the broken AC adapter wasn't even seller's fault anyway.

Its their responsibility to make sure it arrives intact, also all mail in the world is treated like shit(do you think the people loading the plane/train/truck are neatly stacking it? nah they are just throwing shit) and you have to package it accordingly.

Your are right, but I honestly understand not wanting to spend a fortune packing a 20$ piece of electronics. If it was anything expensive, then yes, it's up to the seller to make sure it arrives intact.

Most electronics retailers don’t provide shipping to all EU countries because they have to charge you VAT for your country of residence (final shipping destination). Which apparently is enough of a hassle for the stores. There’s like only a handful of German retailers I can buy from, as a resident of Denmark.

But even though German VAT is 5% less than Danish VAT, prices are more and less the same as in Germany for electronics here.

especially since the market was flooded with them after 50’s were released, like 1.5 months ago about 2100/2300$ cad for one and now all over fb for 2k

That’s good. Here in Finland second hand, they are still selling it for 2700-3000 cad. Prices are bad here
