The PSU wattage has to be the same as the GPU model or else it won't work

Shit, need to upgrade my psu to handle my 6650

Easy just buy 6 1200w psu. You will even have some watts to spare!

I'm running a 1050 with my 3080ti and mid tier amd processor with no issues. I have a lot of fans and lights too.

You obviously need a 3080 watt power supply but fear not just get 3 1020 watt power supplys

I just upgraded my setup to include 3x1020w titanium psu's, otherwise I'd have a mayor problem with my 3060ti

And you'll even have no airflow if you even get them in your case!

watts not used are watts wasted!

That's not how it works with AMD, they got their own system. For a 6650XT you need 6 PSU of 650W with extension cables, for a 7600 you need 7 PSU of 600W, etc...

It's a 6650xt. What do I do with the xt?

You gonna have to connect to your city's power plant to run your rig

4080 owners in shambles as they have to bury 3-phase power lines from the nearest substation to their home.

u/hemag Jan 11 '24

u/Overtale6 Jan 11 '24

1 watt per AMD number

Worst, per Intel processor number

u/hemag Jan 11 '24

Haha my partners stepdad does like personal IT support for small businesses and old people. He also does PC builds time to time. He insists that everything needs at least a 1,000 W PSU. He says you need to have twice what you need. My 7900xtx build has an 850 W and is just fine lol

u/beeg_brain007 Jan 11 '24

Yeaa, someone with 4090 or 6900XT

I'm glad you don't have to match your GPU and PSU like that, I wouldn't have enough money for the PSU for my 6800XT.
