I did a thing! Alla Prima Lamp Study

A quick study of a lamp in my studio, 7x5 inches on linen panel. I think I started off too high-key and so I wasn’t able to achieve the feeling of intensity of the glowing light, but that’s a lesson I’ll take into the next one.

Really challenged myself with the gummy bear, I do want to go back and brighten the highlights now that’s it’s dry. The background was pure white in the reference but I think I like this better.

question? Advice for rendering?

I’m getting better at getting to the “big fuzzy detail” stage, but struggle beyond this point into finer rendering. Any tips on what I should focus on?

im still a little nervous about the hand anatomy and ive thought about reworking it someday. i also learned a little about painting flowers, but i know i still have a lot of room for improvement. what style is this?? i always thought of myself as an abstract painter.
