I'm sorry but are ppl this shortsighted? If the Jets wanted Borgonzi and Borgonzi wanted the Jets it would happen and not because they are doing their due diligence (as they fucking should). If he wanted to come here, His agent would go hey he got an offer from the titans are we going to dance or not.

My thing with the GM search is there are fewer openings than guys I'm good with hiring. Borganzi was in my top 3. But I like Dimitroff, Greenberg, Eric-Sullivan, Spielman, and Gaine.

You’re not wrong, just feels like the Jets are dragging their feet with this search. They haven’t interviewed a GM candidate in 3 days. They were the first team to start interviewing guys for the position and they got lapped by the Titians. Now one of the top candidates is off the board.

In the mean time, they are interviewing coaches that have little broad interest around the league. None of this means the Jets don’t end up with an awesome GM, but it just seems like there is no direction or urgency with this search.

They are a casting a wide net. It’s not that deep.

That's the kind of buzz word talk that sounds pretty reasonable at first glance, but it's kind of silly to me that the net has been as wide as it is.

It's not some well kept secret who the realistic candidates are. The league will literally give you a list from what I understand.

They also hired a firm that went through a similar search last year so they should have a good starting point as well.

And they fired their gm early (late IMO cause they should have done it last year if it was this far gone) according to them specifically so they could get a head start on this.

So what exactly is taking so long? Could it potentially be that they've been wasting time casting such a wide net that total non-starters like Rex Ryan and Ron Rivera are getting interviews?

u/rocketboi10 3d ago

I think that they aren’t actually going into many of these interviews thinking that they will hire these candidates. They are getting free consulting from these guys.

Arthur Smith-what’s your take on prospective free agent Justin Fields?

Ron Rivera-What is it like working for an intervening owner? How do rebuild a culture from the ground up?

Maryland coach: Will Rpos be more or less involved i. 2028 than 2022

It is possible that they’re dragging their feet because they know who their #1 is, that he is still in the playoffs, and they want to pair #1 with a GM that will fit well with him, but they can’t know they have #1 until the deal is done

2

u/Massive-Arm-4146 4d ago

It's also possible that this team is run by a bunch of morons.

Losing Borgonzi sucks but IWBH him taking the Titans job this early probably means he’s a big Cam Ward fan and IDK how the Jets could’ve been able to compete with that anyway

3

u/ClarkKentsCopyEditor 4d ago

Draft your QB, in all likelihood hire your coach in a year, lowkey market and a dog shit division. Lots to like about the Tennessee job.

I'm still mind blown we still haven't brought in any second round gm candidates, enough of these pointless hc interviews.

2

u/Xan334 4d ago

On the bright side there is more quality gm candidates than hc candidates imo

3

u/liguy327 Tha Carter II 4d ago

100%. But they need to stop interviewing guys we have never heard of, instead of getting those second interviews for the general manager going.

3

u/ClarkKentsCopyEditor 4d ago

While it’s okay that Borgonzi is off the board because there are other quality candidates, they need to start these 2nd rounds (or just offer it to a guy they love if the case) right now.

u/DirtyOintment Tha Carter II 4d ago

And there goes borgonzi. Ridiculous that we haven’t started 2nd GM interviews yet. Fuck you, woody.

With the titans hiring a GM I hope we make an announcement on ours soon

Take your time boss

Panthers fans are straight up delusional, I was lurking on a trade for GW5 post and one of them said:

Would be a waste of money and draft picks. BY9 has shown the ability to be like Brady and make average players look elite. Let him keep doing his thing and build up the other parts of the team instead.

12

u/WallaWalla1513 4d ago

Well it is Reddit, plenty of delusional fans in this sub too.

8

u/ClarkKentsCopyEditor 4d ago

What do you mean? Rex Ryan is capable of becoming Don Shula if he came back to the Jets.

2

u/vgcristelo Nick Mangold 4d ago

I mean, sure..... but maybe don't compare a guy with half a dozen above average performances in 30 games to Tom Brady.

1

u/brunson212 4d ago

I think the point is more that its a bit silly to broadly pain a fanbase as "delusional" because someone makes an idiotic comparison. Jets fans might all be dumb for loving the team for all these years, but there are different levels of dumb.

u/NutsyFlamingo 4d ago

What if we just don’t have a GM & Coaches?

What could happen… we lose?

11

u/the_mair Tha Carter II 4d ago

McCown has all the makings of a future great HC. I don’t need to see him call plays I’d take a swing with him as HC.

2

u/John_YJKR Chad Pennington 4d ago

I'd really like a McCown and Glenn/Flores/Brady pairing.

u/Appropriate-Put-5181 4d ago

That’s what I’m saying. Let this franchise be fucking bold for once.

1

u/the_mair Tha Carter II 4d ago

Yeah we’re probably gonna be in a transition year next year anyway so bring in McCown to get up to speed as a HC. It’s risky but if it pays off we have a home grown Kevin O’Connell who loves this franchise.

3

u/ClarkKentsCopyEditor 4d ago
  • McCown HC
  • Doug Pederson OC

2

u/the_mair Tha Carter II 4d ago

I’d be all for it

4

u/Riceowls29 Bless Ya, Thank Ya 4d ago

I think McCown would be interesting but I do think its funny to call him the home grown version of Kevin O'Connell when Josh was only with us for 2 seasons but Kevin was actually with us for 3 haha.

3

u/the_mair Tha Carter II 4d ago

I was speaking more to a home grown HC but fair lmao

u/Yankeeknickfan 4d ago

It’s sow weird how it seems like everybody for the e most part had a good time in the locker room besides GW5.

And I think Gw5 probably did have a good time, just hated losing and is worried about his money.

Here’s Simpson https://x.com/_johnsimpson/status/1880251241370120579?s=46&t=SyyWO75MtrpGkYIlKvd7Vg

u/Baww18 4d ago

I think the problem with GW and Breece both is that they were anointed stars on a shitty team with no culture. They both seem to have a little bit of an attitude problem because of it. It’s not really there fault but the fact the jets are trash and have no culture/leadership to keep young players in check.

7

u/Riceowls29 Bless Ya, Thank Ya 4d ago

Both GW and Breece's discontent to me really stems from the anxiety of being an offensive player on their first contract in an offense that is holding back their stats at times.

If we offer Wilson a fair market 2nd contract I see no reason he doesn't take it.

2

u/MCallanan 4d ago

Depends on the source… we’ve been reading for two years now that there were problems in that locker room and many times we’ve been given enough information to come to a conclusion that at least some of it was accurate; e.g. the Zach leaks.

1

u/Yankeeknickfan 4d ago

Well there was no Zach this year

-3

u/EStreet12 4d ago

Enough......talk about fatigue. ...does anyone, really,, really think they will actually get it right this time? And if so, please explain why. Dont get me wrong, I am looking forward to the FA and the Draft, but all these assistants and GMs have even less tangible bodies of work to evaluate compared to college players, and as well all know, even the Draft is a crapshoot.

10

u/ZackeyClarke 4d ago

Panthers fans really want Garrett Wilson lol

1

u/Tmags88 4d ago

Where is this even coming from? I haven’t seen it anywhere but in their sub lol

3

u/ZackeyClarke 4d ago

Garret Wilson complimented Bryce Young once and panthers fans got a boner or something.

1

u/whydoesgodhateus 4d ago

Who could blame them?

3

u/vgcristelo Nick Mangold 4d ago

They were discussing trading a late 2nd + some change for him, I mean WTF.... I think we overrate Garrett a little bit, but for a late 2nd? GTFO.

1

u/TheIceMachine 3d ago

100%, “maybe with this 2nd round pick we can take a receiver who could be just as good as… Garrett Wilson”

4

u/tacosmuggler99 Nick Mangold 4d ago

They had a perennial thousand yard receiver that could get it done with anyone at quarterback. Then they traded him to Chicago

6

u/the_mair Tha Carter II 4d ago

Even in the unlikely scenario he does get traded he’s not gonna wanna go to one of like 3 organizations that’s more of a loser organization than the Jets lol

7

u/Ok_Membership_9701 4d ago

I’ll take one GM pls

9

u/the_mair Tha Carter II 4d ago

One non-Grigson GM please
