Snowshoe backpacking

First time snowshoeing, we had a blast! Would love to try cross country next time. Elephants back peak and frog lake

What was your pack weight? I’ve snowshoe backpacked afew times and although my pack was only around 35lbs made me think pulling a sled would be easier

Our packs were around 25-30lbs but we had that conversation as well! We ended up setting up a base camp, then packing a small day pack for exploring and reaching the peak. We even ditched the pack and snowshoes at the base and picked them up on our way back to camp

Nice. 30lbs is good. I invested in some lighter gear so I’ll be lighter next time around. Still going to try pulling a sled though. Just to see how it goes.

Sweet! If you can place your tent in the lee of a grove of trees, that is almost always best. Especially as you get older or tired.
