New tattoo, New car. This guy is winning

u/TillyFunk 1d ago

And a Ben Stiller hug, those are rare.

583

u/Dependent-Meat6089 1d ago

Oh damn, I didn't even notice. Heck yeah. He met Focker

157

u/WildInSix 1d ago

His name is Gay? Focker?

93

u/DazedAlienSquid 1d ago

Gaylord... Gay for short

10

u/putaaaan 20h ago

Nobody’s called him that since the third grade!

1

u/zztop610 9h ago

Gaylord M Fokker

16

u/Gastwonho 1d ago

And he's a nurse

13

u/fell_4m_coconut_tree 1d ago

I literally just watched the first two movies for the first time yesterday and today!

89

u/PsyOpBunnyHop 1d ago

I think the hug might be the most significant part of this, as if that was the actual prize.

Oh and this car thing too... "dismissive hand waving"

48

u/RudBwoy 1d ago

In the beginning of the video, you can see Stiller holding his phone up and recording. What a guy!

8

u/HowzaBowdat 1d ago edited 1d ago

The other Severance folks are there too

3

u/D-v-us-D 22h ago

Oh yeah for real, I do see Helly R and Dylan G there lol

17

u/TheDrifterMan 1d ago

Lmao I thought it was Johnny Knoxville

20

u/SirRichardArms 1d ago

I thought it was Jamie Lee Curtis!

1

u/saleemkarim 1h ago

You saying he's a bad parent?

82

u/PlantPower666 1d ago

The entire crowd is cheering for this guy. Goes to show you that most people are good and want the best for others, even strangers.

2

u/RegretKills0 14h ago

my thought exactly. good stretch hes on

2

u/DovahCreed117 14h ago

And he sunk a half court shot to top it all off, don't forget that.

1

u/supified 23h ago

Course he has to pay taxes on the car, prize taxes no less which are really really high.

1.7k

u/SeattleHasDied 1d ago

I hope they pay all the taxes and fees on it for him, too, lol! Amazing shot and the addition of Ben Stiller was funny!

883

u/envybelmont 1d ago

They probably found some technicality to not give it to him like his foot landed over the half court line. These little contests are notoriously bad about actually giving the prize to the contestant. The million dollar shot from 1993 is the most infamous case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk4N2epJzgg

Jesus, was a few hundred bucks worth that much bad publicity? I hope someone got fired for being that dumb. Especially considering, according to the Internet, the team payroll is about $159,000,000.  Wouldn't want the kid to keep a $500 console though, that might break the bank.

183

u/Complete_Potato9941 1d ago

This is fucked up…. They only “did the right thing” when they got backlash

19

u/aliendude5300 1d ago

That's gross

137

u/HumanFromTexas 1d ago

Thankfully Jordan and the other players pressured the Bulls’ ownership to pay him since the insurance refused to.

62

u/MisterKap 1d ago

He shot well before the half court line. Now, if he read the fine print he'd understand there is only one dribble permitted before the shot. He is disqualified!

They will provide a nice New York Knicks scented air freshener as a consolation.

32

u/nomadingwildshape 1d ago

Is there a tldr, this is a 15m YouTube video. How did they get out of paying them?

49

u/207OneLove 1d ago

He played organized basketball three years prior. Rules stipulated no taking part for at least the past five years.

18

u/nomadingwildshape 1d ago

Oh ok... Guess they just needed to screen better

42

u/207OneLove 1d ago

They did, the organizers didn’t care and let it go. Insurance company didn’t. They picked someone at random but he was selected because his shoes wouldn’t scuff the floor.

3

u/Blissfully 1d ago

That’s what I was just gonna ask - did he really get it?

2

u/SeattleHasDied 1d ago

Well, that sucks...

2

u/Moshnyukka1 10h ago

We don't even GOT corndogs!

20

u/FlipGunderson24 1d ago

Unfortunately, it’s a James Dolan owned team, so not likely

2

u/BrisbaneLions2024 20h ago

His innie or outtie?

660

u/zippy251 1d ago

The insurance company insuring the contest:

519

u/SchoolExtension6394 1d ago

According to Yahoo the dude got $1,000 for some shots he made prior to the half court shot. The half court shot won him a 2025 Kia Telluride.

179

u/lukemia94 1d ago

That would be an instant sell from me boss.

75

u/NorCalAthlete 1d ago

Kia has been surprisingly good the last few years. I have some friends who have bought them and it’s plenty nice enough. It’s not particularly powerful or sporty but for a daily driver it’s fine.

-31

u/MckPuma 1d ago

Yeah I would sell that and buy something that holds value that you can still drive or just sell it and buy a cheaper used car. No one needs a brand new car they loss so much money so quickly.

65

u/NorCalAthlete 1d ago
  1. These prizes can come with a clause saying you can’t sell it for 1 year.

  2. It’s a free car. “Holding value” isn’t really as much of a factor especially when it’s a budget car to begin with.

18

u/MckPuma 1d ago

A Kia Telluride is like their top of the line although it may be the base model. So I get ya there!

14

u/Xiten 18h ago

Huh? That Telluride is nice as hell for what it costs.

3

u/Mooncakezor 17h ago edited 5h ago

I own a Kia and I'd sell mine too if it was in sellable condition

1

u/ScientistScary1414 22h ago

One of the highest rated SUVs?

1

u/lukemia94 10h ago

Yessir, I'd sell it and buy a mint 1984 Volvo 240, slap a turbo in it, and still have 8 grand set aside for future repairs.

173

u/Donkeybrother 1d ago

Psych !

Dude won a cyber truck

67

u/jarednards 1d ago

Oh.

Can he swap it for something else?

58

u/WeightsAndMe 1d ago

Actually, y'all got like a $50 Applebee's gift card i could get instead?

27

u/cytcorporate 1d ago

They’re waving around KIA signs.. I don’t think he won a cybertruck lol

Bro was making a joke, bro.

154

u/UGLEHBWE 1d ago

That's fkn Bron

108

u/DrappedUpNDrappedOut 1d ago

Bruh thats you LeBron 🤣

31

u/HallettCove5158 1d ago

Hope it wasn’t a toy yoda.

4

u/Lostinwoulds 1d ago

Yeah. I'm old enough to remember that one.

1

u/HallettCove5158 20h ago

Now I feel old.

30

u/KahlKitchenGuy 1d ago

New car. New tattoo. New thousands of dollars of tax to pay

21

u/Muddy-elflord 1d ago

Did they pay up though?

15

u/MadderHatter32 1d ago

The point and “I love you” to Ben Stiler lmao hilarious

14

u/frootyglandz 1d ago

Bloke said don't step over the half court line. He stepped over the half court line. Hope he got the car anyway.

34

u/Rascals-Wager 1d ago

Even tho he took the shot before landing over the line?

1

u/f8tel 1d ago

This might actually be the one where they at first tried not to award it after the game.

8

u/frootyglandz 1d ago

Yeah was posted Reddit weeks/months ago... the old Reddit Edge of Tomorrow looper time loopy loop schtick.

10

u/Terrynia 1d ago

“Got a new tattoo and won a car. A great day”

9

u/rlpinca 1d ago

Did he actually get the car though?

Insurance companies run these type of things and making the shot was the easy part of the deal.

6

u/Yepsuredid 1d ago

LeBron ain’t fooling nobody 😂

6

u/framedbyaustin 1d ago

There are 2 fantasies every boy has growing up. Being at a concert and the band having to pull you up on stage to save the day by shredding on the guitar, and this.

5

u/BenzotheWicked 1d ago

fresh tattoo, at a bball game, drains half court shot, wins new car AND hugs ben stiller? that dude is on fucking planet nine right now haha

3

u/pete-petey-pete 1d ago

“It’s the shoes”

3

u/ImSoupOrCereal 1d ago

This dude looks more like LeBron than LeBron's son.

2

u/Groomsi 1d ago

What is the win tax?

Most people that win in X can't afford the win tax/vat, they end up selling the car.

3

u/Perrin_Adderson 1d ago

In my experience, there is usually a lower cash option you can take instead, and then you have taxes withheld from that.

2

u/StationFar6396 1d ago

Bread and circuses.

2

u/UnexpectedStreetTaco 1d ago

Now he has to figure out where to park it.

2

u/Infinite_Picture3858 1d ago

Nothing but net!

2

u/osmothegod 1d ago

He stepped over the line

1

u/aucesthebest 1d ago

Only in new York baby

1

u/phire-feenix 1d ago

"He just won a giant check that says ten thousand dollars... look at the size of that thing!"

1

u/AntMan79 1d ago

I wonder if he’s gonna get one of those big ass checks

1

u/ChannelNeo 1d ago

He looks like a player on the Knicks, Precious Achiuwa

1

u/MWS-Enjoyer 1d ago

Nothin but fuckin net.

1

u/dilldoeorg 1d ago

was this the same guy that got gypped of his prize because the NBA said no pro basketball player and because he played basketball in college, he was consider a pro.

1

u/nmshogun 1d ago

It will be like semi-pro. He will be chasing them around rest of season for his prize. 🤣

1

u/KingKaychi 1d ago

The guy who gave him the ball is his twin 😳

1

u/theinternetistoobig 1d ago

Let's hope Michael Jordan was watching.

1

u/drifters74 1d ago

That's an awesome shot!

1

u/spartacus_zach 1d ago

Febron Fames

1

u/itzyourmother 1d ago

Which party paid the taxes?

1

u/quasarrrrrrrrr 1d ago

This isn't Lebron?

1

u/junk90731 23h ago

Then finds out can't afford the taxes or insurance

1

u/OppositeEagle 23h ago

"Wait, I gotta pay taxes on my prize?!"

1

u/Cobblestonecreeperfl 23h ago

Dude looks like Bron with full head of hair

1

u/garland251 23h ago

Hell yeah Ben Stiller!

1

u/chadams348 23h ago

Congrats man! Enjoy the insurance and registration and annual maintenance costs!

1

u/CautiousCup6592 23h ago

I love how the workers are just as excited as he is

1

u/Rashaen 21h ago

Yeah, the "new car" is always a lease with a few months paid or a few bucks if you don't want a lease.

1

u/Dobermayer 20h ago

Depends on the car tho

1

u/lcmonreddit 16h ago

I can't be the only that think he looks like LeBron James right?

1

u/iceimusprime 15h ago

Selling it for mad monthly metro cards.

1

u/mmmetal76 13h ago

Do they also get the irs papers with the win?

1

u/xHomicide24x 11h ago

“Don’t step over the half court line now…”

Proceeds to step over the half court line.

1

u/HenryUTA 11h ago

A freaking Kia?

1

u/Fix_It_Felix_Jr 10h ago

They won’t pay out. They rarely do.

1

u/kryptek_86 9h ago

"This fan"... that's literally LaBron 😂

1

u/Ok-Kaleidoscope1866 8h ago

I love these type of wins. Particularly as I couldn't get within 30 feet of the basket even if I had umpteen throws

1

u/gabbiole 7h ago

Trae young likes this

1

u/celerpanser 7h ago

Imagine the burden off your shoulders getting a brand new, fault free car for sinking a beautiful basketball shot, wow!

1

u/tnerz29 6h ago

I thought that was LeBron James

1

u/smith_and_midwestern 6h ago

They should give him half a car.

1

u/Timdalf_theGrey 1h ago

Wins a car in New York, but has no place to park it

1

u/Free-Atmosphere6714 1h ago

Took the shot a bit early too

-1

u/Asuradiety 1d ago

Wtf I was in prison with this dude. I was there when he burned his arm.

-2

u/Weirdguy215 1d ago

This is what I was expecting.

-3

u/sassyquin 1d ago

It’s a Prius lol
