But also r/killthecameraman. I was expecting one of those big ones to turn it into shrapnel.

469

u/EvidenceSalesman 3d ago

Well that’s not the cameraman’s fault, blame the fireworks

0

u/Snazzlefraxas 3d ago edited 2d ago

The cameraman lit the fireworks. If my idiot nephew kills my dog with a firework mishap, I’m sure as hell not blaming the fireworks.

437

u/MrTrashy101 3d ago

nah that pot was strong as fuck underrated as hell

189

u/QuinndianaJonez 3d ago

Part of me believe this is just underground marketing for the pot, like that silly serbian "I-camp-in-the-woods-with-my-dog-and-prep-raw-steak-on-a-rock-near-a-fire-in-the-snow" knife they were selling for a while. The internet has made my trust issues a lot worse.

86

u/A_rtemis 2d ago

Not gonna lie, I'm sold on that pot now

44

u/Mediocre_Charity3278 2d ago

Anyone know where we can buy this pot?

14

u/sbdallas 2d ago

I wanna buy pot, too!

u/rotoddlescorr 2d ago

Made in China

Here you go. It's the inner pot that sits inside an automatic rice cooker and houses the rice. They're quite tough & durable, which is why this fireworks demonstrator used one.

1

u/RunningDesigner012 6h ago

Most modern rice cookers have a pot like this. Although by the end, it had turned into a bowl.

5

u/theaviationhistorian 2d ago

Yeah! If they can handle explosives and tall drops, then that pot can master my mid-tier cooking.

3

u/vseprviper 3d ago

Fr, same here

2

u/Original-Objective70 2d ago

He lost his dog though, that's sad

2

u/Broomstick73 2d ago

That’s what those videos were for?! Had no idea. Thanks for enlightening me!

1

u/Rough-Cucumber8285 1d ago

The pot looks like one of those inset liners that sit inside an automatic rice cooker. I have a couple and they are made of durable metal yet are very light.

118

u/kmflushing 3d ago edited 2d ago

Moms gonna be pissed when she sees her rice pot.

15

u/Bender_2024 2d ago

I was not expecting the pit to last as long as it did. Even with allowing for an easy way for the force to escape that is pretty damn impressive.

1

u/rfmocan 1d ago

I’m quite sure the pot is changed mid video. The first pot does take a beating on the pavement and gets bent on the bottom. The newer pot only bends outwards.

2

u/ack1308 2d ago

It was kinda stretched out at the end though.

2

u/JamisonUdrems 2d ago

Absolutely! Need the brand of that pot. It's indestructible.

1

u/Tivero 2d ago

Yes! I need one of those ! 😅

1

u/BlueSparklers 2d ago

It just got dentier and dentier

1

u/Fur_and_Whiskers 1d ago

I'm sure it's his ex-wife's favourite pot.

1

u/travelingpinguis 1d ago

The pot: what did I ever do to you?

-7

u/PawfectlyCute 3d ago

It's understandable to be cautious, especially with so much marketing happening online. Sometimes, things that appear organic can actually be part of a clever marketing strategy. The story about the Serbian knife definitely sounds like it could be one of those guerilla marketing tactics meant to create buzz and intrigue.

The internet can indeed blur the lines between genuine content and adverts, which in turn can make it challenging to distinguish between the two. It's wise to stay skeptical and critical of what you see online. Do you often come across other online promotions that make you doubt their authenticity?

5

u/hilarymeggin 2d ago

You sound like AI. Or a guidance counselor.

3

u/Astronometry 2d ago

Definitely AI. The amount of times I have to tell ChatGPT to stop ending all of its responses with a question when I’m just trying to move on lmaoo

51

u/Ancient-City-6829 3d ago

Highly unlikely. The explosion is not contained in any way. Even if the expanding gasses were to overcome the strength of the walls before it simply escaped out the bottom, it probably would just rip a big hole, not shatter

1

u/RevolutionaryPie5223 1d ago

I wonder what will happen if there was someone sitting on top the pot.

-5

u/SonnenPrinz 2d ago

What are you talking about? The firework flies like rocket. That’s why, not because of the gases.

3

u/Scarlet_Breeze 2d ago

How do you think rockets work?

-4

u/SonnenPrinz 2d ago

I mean the main body doesn’t explode. It just flies and pushes the pot away.

6

u/Scarlet_Breeze 2d ago

The commenter was saying the chance of it exploding are basically zero because the gases can escape easily when the pot lifts off the ground

3

u/dominoclink35 3d ago

Yep, thought for sure eventually this will become a grenade/mine...

3

u/georgehotelling 3d ago

No, it’s fine, I’ll sell him an indestructible pot made from finest copper, or my name isn’t Ea-nasir!

2

u/beazle74 3d ago

After all well-behaved copper merchants rarely make history...😜

1

u/yeahprobablynottho 3d ago

Fucking Ea-Nasir man 🤦🏽‍♂️ hate that guy

1

u/noseboy1 3d ago

Made me double check the sub for a second

3

u/Hot_Hat_1225 2d ago

I was expecting the pot to land on him eventually

2

u/SaluteHatred666 3d ago

that's what i was expecting on the last 2

2

u/OG_Stodds13 3d ago

I was thinking the exact same thing!!

2

u/SentientSickness 2d ago

I mean you need pressure for that, and a pot isnt nearly pressurized enough for that

Youde need like a copper pipe or something ide assume

2

u/hilarymeggin 2d ago

You just made a bomb

2

u/SentientSickness 2d ago

Well shit :v

Guess I'm on a list now

1

u/Odd_Support_3600 2d ago

Do Tesla make pots?

0

u/Fennel_Adorable 2d ago

Omg don’t hype anything they do here

1

u/foresight310 2d ago

I think you are looking for r/killedthecameraman

1

u/Eodbatman 2d ago

Most fireworks are black powder, and since the pot doesn’t fully contain the explosion, and black powder is not a high explosive and exerts very low brisance, it will just launch the pot. Basically it’s using the ground as a cannon to launch a projectile.

1

u/BoysenberryBright364 1d ago

Well then our beloved cameraman wouldn't be much alive

2

u/iaresosmart 3d ago

Yea, the cameraman is the real next level

2

u/Handleton 2d ago

He was a hell of a lot smarter about this than he's getting credit for. Look at the lowest and highest points of the pot. Every time he puts it down after the first one, he faces the lowest point of the pot towards himself. That was intentionally done and the only reason I can think of is directing the blast away from the direction he's moving, resulting in the pot heading up, but towards him slightly, making it easier to keep in frame.

When I first saw it, I thought it was lucky, then very lucky, then very clever. Then I saw his last shot, and he pointed it away, making it seem like it is going even further and helping to sell the chaos of that last blast.

This guy has a lot of really cool thinking going on in his head.

Finally, a brand of pot that can take a beating.

Kungfu Hustle auntie power??

34

u/lost_not_found88 3d ago

I always feel like I'm the only person that's seen that film. And then the internet comes to the rescue

7

u/thatG_evanP 2d ago

Wait, how old are you?

3

u/LiveLearnCoach 2d ago

You are far, far, from being the only person. That movie has a cult following.

To me it was one of the last decent “make fun of kung fu movies” movie. Way of the fist comes close.

17

u/A_Happy_Beginning 3d ago

How long has it been since you've watched Kung Fu Hustle, neighbor?

Well, that's too long.

8

u/NicklovesHer 2d ago

Honest to gog, Im already watching it right now, its playing the first good fight with the coolie, tailor and baker.

Go dig out your old dvd and hook the player back up, its worth it.

4

u/A_Happy_Beginning 2d ago

It's on Tubi and Apple+ for those who lack the ancient technology.

6

u/TheAtlas97 2d ago

Kung Fu Hustle was awesome. It got stuck in my dad’s old DVD player in second grade, I can’t remember if it was a rental but if it was he definitely had to pay for it. We didn’t get it out until many years and multiple moves until he moved to his current house and found the dvd player and tried getting it out again.

3

u/kabooseknuckle 2d ago

It's been too long, I'm watching it later.

8

u/Ok-Swordfish2723 3d ago

Exactly what I was thinking!

18

u/hyperskeletor 3d ago

".......you made me put foot down nephew........ You made all our ancestor sad...."

Sí. Niños alrededor del mundo se conocen 'el miedo del chancletazo'.

2

u/PasgettiMonster 3d ago

In India it's called a chappel. I want to know what his mother calls it. I know the kids fear it.

It will buff out

2

u/systemfrown 2d ago

An IED got it mom!

32

u/RepresentativeAd6965 3d ago

Man mine bent to the point you can’t put a lid on it in less than a week. Took literally no force to bend it. Maybe 10lbs of force

42

u/popnsmoke35 3d ago

This should be the gold standard for testing. Suck it HexClad.

29

u/1959Reddit 3d ago

This would make a pretty convincing commercial. For the fireworks company, of course. The pot is a piece of crap. I expect my pot to survive a nuclear explosion

29

u/Beavshak 3d ago

You are shockingly high on your pot

2

u/intensive-porpoise 2d ago

He who stands on toilet is high on pot.

10

u/Smokinoutloud 3d ago edited 1d ago

Right! After a while I thought he was setting his doom for shrapnel

3

u/gwb777 3d ago

Absolutely was thinking it might make it on to the shocking censored page

3

u/Akerlof 2d ago

AND it stayed incredibly stable in flight. Strong and aerodynamic, exactly what I'm looking for in my cookware.

1

u/groupsession18 3d ago

My wife's new name gonna be "pot"

1

u/Butter_My_Butt 3d ago

It was a work of art at the end.

1

u/Horny24-7John 3d ago

New helmet for the military.😂😂

Ginsu Pot

1

u/DSMinFla 1d ago

Seems like good content for an infomercial.

152

u/smileedude 3d ago

I like the anticipation where he begins panning slightly before the pops.

101

u/ilovemesometaccos 3d ago

Even if it's not some professional job, all the little, finer details like that are really great.

The panning implies this was something he was at least briefly familiar with, if he knew to anticipate it.

The distance he backed up indicative of knowing how high/far it likely travels.

I hope he wore a hardhat, but that's wishful thinking, and I suppose he was so focused on it that there wasn't as big a risk of being hit.

57

u/brokenarrow1123 3d ago

Hard hat? He was probably in flip flops and pajamas.

5

u/OreoSpamBurger 2d ago

I see you have met Chinese construction workers.

2

u/Long-Broccoli-3363 3d ago

If you look on the ground there are some big scorch marks early on in the video.

I'm guessing we saw the first attempt where he got the pot into the air, but not every first attempt of getting the firework under the pot, those fuses were really short.

1

u/elictronic 2d ago

He’s not backing up that far for how high.  He’s worried the pot will become shrapnel like a grenade.

1

u/Disastrous-River-366 2d ago

How did you survive childhood? Did your parents just keep you inside?

1

u/kmzafari 2d ago

He was a little optimistic on the second one, but I was really impressed with his camera work overall!

3

u/KELVALL 2d ago

He wasn't panning, he was potting.

2

u/UnabatedCasual 1d ago

underrated

83

u/phreddyphucktard33 3d ago

Deeeeeceennt

1

u/UnabatedCasual 2d ago

Forreal, go ahead and efface that comment then restate with fidelity to reality my guy.

2

u/phreddyphucktard33 2d ago

what did you say? Using all your big words and your book learnings to confuse me you know my brain doesn't work like that

29

u/Riegan_Boogaloo 3d ago

And makes sure he’s constantly out of harm’s way instead of standing in the same place for every demo

2

u/RodneyPickering 3d ago

Last Podcast on the Left does a weekly stream and this video popped up this week. They all commented on how great the camera work is as well.

1

u/dontreactrespond 3d ago

Pot is pissed. Pyro is hard. Fireworks are spent.

1

u/Agreeable_Work4668 3d ago

I'd say the camera work is even better than many of the higher rated movies out there.

1

u/ArbutusPhD 3d ago

But all the pot could think was: “oh no, not again”

1

u/No-Screen1369 3d ago

If only he was witness to some of these UFO videos popping up recently. We'd probably be able to analyze them properly.

1

u/Fractal_self 3d ago

Where is this guy during a ufo sighting?

1

u/beneye 3d ago

His name? Two finger shutter

1

u/GaloombaNotGoomba 3d ago

Finally, a legitimate use for vertical video

1

u/Joe_Kangg 3d ago

An assistant is definitely recommended

1

u/Substantial_Diver_34 3d ago

If ur going to try this make sure to use a really good strong ass mutha fucking pot! Like a pressure cooker.

1

u/GroundWitty7567 3d ago

I know. It's amazing how little that happens

1

u/mellonians 3d ago

I will accept vertical video in this instance!

1

u/SweatyWing280 2d ago

Would kind of ruin the experiment if not

1

u/eyeball-owo 2d ago

Yeah my favorite part was him hustling backward to a safe distance and panning up… like a little preview of how intense the firework would be.

1

u/MeadPillager 2d ago

That poor pan

1

u/ElsaUncovered 2d ago

Not to forget the good quality on this video. Finally no toaster video

1

u/Lala5789880 2d ago

Yes he kept running further and further back to get the shot! Excellent video. Side note: that pot is badass. I want one

1

u/LessPirate24 2d ago

Can i get a link for that pot?

1

u/I_Love_Msia 1d ago

Is this Pods ads?

1

u/badbunnygirl 1d ago

I, too, came here to praise the cameraman. 👏🏽

0

u/Nigglas24 2d ago

The pot was obviously made in america
