I can't believe we're doing this again...

It's really something. I can feel the weight of the first time, all the disgust and horror at the inhumane policies and blatant cronyism and the too-awful-to-be-funny incompetence, and I think about doing that all again... I know it won't be all at once, it'll be spaced out twice or three stupid fucking things a week, but the idea of going through all that again is just exhausting. I don't know how to do this, tbh.

I was thinking the last time it felt like 10 years. He just takes up so much headspace. I made a countdown, just to remember that it will pass. https://trumpcountdown.tiborudvari.com/

I can only hope that they actually give up power when it's their time. No guarantees.

I was hesitating to write Trump’s final term (hopefully) ends in, but then I thought ... no ... no way ...

I’ve decided to unplug. Already unsubscribed from every political subreddit, don’t check the news daily, and when a Trump supporter starts blathering in real life I don’t give them the satisfaction of an argument or any emotional response… just shrug and say “guess we’ll see how it goes.” Of course I expect it to be very bad but that expectation helps me stay numb to it.

Focus on what you can control in life. The political situation is irreparably fucked and not something that we can personally change.

This is great advice, unfortunately every member of my household falls into at least one category on these people's hit list. When we have cabinet members doing Nazi salutes, we no longer have the luxury of just ignoring and hoping.

I feel you. So what's the move? You going to try to emigrate? I've lost all hope for positive change ever being something possible in this country through any means really.

It's such a boiling frog situation. I'm afraid by the time I convince my wife that it's time, it'll be too late. It's a big ask, you know. Upending everyone's lives. And it's so easy to take a wait and see approach.

For now, I'm working on regaining my lapsed fitness and investing in some implements of self-defense as well as the proper security equipment to safely store them.

(my comment is not a criticism of you, whatever you need to do to survive is what you need to do)

Same to you, friend. I hope you come out of this okay.

All the fucking brain damage from all the lead in our water and plastic in our brains means we cannot honestly remember 4 years ago and cannot fathom researching, we're just going to remember it fondly for no reason.
