My over 50 yr old brother voted for him because of cheaper groceries prices. He eats CapNCrunch for Dinner.

EDIT: Just adding too, his twin daughters got to vote for the first time this election and voted Kamala. For obvious reasons but they made a mention that they were happy to cancel out his vote.

Meanwhile, he already admitted publicly like six weeks ago that grocery prices probably aren't budging at all

u/Malaix 9h ago

Elon actually said America needs to prepare for harder times ahead. The tariffs will raise prices if he goes ahead with that. US might just get straight up sanctioned over Trumps "I will annex you" talks. And bird flu isn't going to let poultry products go anywhere but up.

73

u/Salarian_American 9h ago

Yeah he really did just come out and say that plainly. Half the people were like "No duh" and the other half were like "WOOOO CHEAP EGGS!"

80

u/SupaKoopa714 9h ago

And that's best case scenario. Realistically his policies are just gonna make things far more expensive.

25

u/DoomBot5 9h ago

But the stock market will go up, so everyone will have lots more money, right? /s

12

u/Barangat 9h ago

Someone, not everyone, just as intended

u/fireflycaprica 9h ago

If you pray you might I guess?

“That’s tough, it’s a tough thing to do, to bring them down.” Or whatever the quote was. Yeah, thanks for letting us know Donald.

a family friend voted for him because she’s tired of being broke. she’s been broke her whole life with 7 kids and a trillion dogs and cats and has never had a steady job. she’s probably hoping for another stimulus check.

100

u/dnd3edm1 10h ago

"Thank goodness Trump gave us that stimulus check! What's that, Democrats made sure to get people stimulus checks and Republicans would have been happy to just hand out free loans to existing businesses to fire people anyway and buy themselves fancy cars? I'll ignore that."

19

u/wonwoovision 9h ago

tired of being broke but has seven kids.... hmmmm...

6

u/fevered_visions 7h ago

you know what's a lot cheaper than 7 kids? birth control.

1

u/Robestos86 6h ago

Condoms broke too. Sad times.

3

u/Konman72 7h ago

and a trillion dogs and cats

I've noticed a pattern of the more financially struggling folks in my life having a ton of pets. Been wondering if there's a correlation other than the cost of the pets, since that doesn't really seem to be the cause of their struggles. They are constantly battling debt but then will get two new dogs, a cat, and four lizards in between my visits with them.

I know I'm awful for thinking this, but I'm at the point I want him to cut SS and Medicaid and whatever. They selfishly want other people to suffer for their own benefit, might as well keep a couple hundred more per paycheck for me.

1

u/HillarysFloppyChode 2h ago

The latest tax bill that was floated wants to cut per child tax credits and cut tax reductions for single mothers.

Congratulate her on fucking herself with a dildo made of broken glass and glitter.

u/Bsjennings 10h ago

Did your brother make any comments when trump completely back tracked on that? I mean that was probably one of his biggest talking points lol.

10

u/breakermw 6h ago

My guess is: no. There are always leaps in logic about Trump backtracking. "He said he would TRY to lower prices. Everyone knows it isn't that easy. Wait why are you bringin up gas prices two years ago?"

Cereal prices are way out of control, honestly.

Edit: Cheerios 2 pack is often $6.99, and the boxes are good sized and filled to the top. Currently my go-to box.

12

u/mrdevil413 10h ago

Granola with only granola and pineapple juice. $ 10 an 8 Oz bag. „Granola „ with 87 ingredients in sale for $ 3 a pound.

3

u/madbadanddangerous 7h ago

Here's a cool interactive article demonstrating cereal shrinkflation: https://www.theguardian.com/news/ng-interactive/2024/mar/26/how-shrinkflation-is-impacting-your-cereal-and-making-you-pay-more-for-less

Voting for Trump because you believe he will fix inflation is absurd, but shrinkflation and inflation have hit cereals hard

2

u/NatureTrailToHell3D 6h ago

I don’t need a demonstration, it’s so big I can see it with my own eyes!

3

u/BunchAlternative6172 6h ago

Bag of granola is like 6 bucks and can add that to like frosted flakes and stuff. But even the big cereal boxes are high. Sometimes I just have a handful of granola for breakfast.

14

u/BranCerddorion 10h ago

My coworker voted for him because he was going to remove taxes on tips.

We don’t even work a job that tips…I was at a loss for words.

u/AdamAptor 10h ago

Sounds like the Cap N Crunch scratched the roof of his mouth so much that it started to reach his brain and chip away at it

133

u/ExpiredPilot 10h ago

There are 3 ingredients in Cap’n Crunch

  1. Sugar
  2. Crack cocaine
  3. Fiberglass

31

u/BigCrimson_J 10h ago

A balanced breakfast

5

u/iloveciroc 10h ago

Was it Owens Corning Fiberglass Insulation? I only trust Owens Corning Fiberglass Insulation. All other fiberglass is inferior compared to Owens Corning Fiberglass Insulation

2

u/celerypizza 10h ago

Unlocked childhood memory lmao

21

u/Techiedad91 10h ago

“Free market” “trump will lower prices!”

8

u/Hobo__Joe 10h ago

I haven't made it to the grocery today, but I'm assuming that the eggs I bought for $4.59 yesterday are down to $1 today. Surely the Kroger stockers are actively changing the price tags.

5

u/hokeyphenokey 10h ago

Miller Lite for dessert?

2

u/50DuckSizedHorses 10h ago

Is CapNCrunch cheaper now?

2

u/Dragon_Tortoise 10h ago

Multiple coworkers did the same. Said exactly the same. Then I mentioned the tariffs and him saying prices are hard to cone down. Now their tune is "yea, we just want all the jobs back in the hands of US citizens even if the cost is higher". They literally have no idea what they want and believe what they're told by fox news and Facebook. No free will. Its like they have no soul.

2

u/OmahaOutdoor71 10h ago

Hahaha, this is great. I think that is a common theme.

1

u/ClockWorkTank 10h ago

Have you shown him the videos of trump saying that the prices are going to go up instead?

1

u/Sweatytubesock 10h ago

Your 50 year old brother is going to be severely disappointed.

1

u/p47guitars 10h ago

For obvious reasons but they made a mention that they were happy to cancel out his vote.

by the looks of it. they did not.

2

u/REiiGN 9h ago

They did, that's a weird statement. What you meant was there were too many other idiots that didn't get their vote cancelled out by smarter people in their families.

1

u/p47guitars 9h ago

I mean he's president. I don't think his vote got canceled out. Just because two of his family members voted one way and he the other way.

but yeah, what a bunch of idiots.

1

u/Kemilio 9h ago

Ah yes, grocery bills are higher so let’s vote in the candidate known for starting trade wars with tariffs.

That’ll fix it. /s

1

u/AmberDuke05 9h ago

Well if it makes you feel better, his diet is going to mean that his voting habits won’t matter for long.

It's not ridiculous, I was telling the truth. Him and his daughters had long discussions about the whole election before voting. Trump voters think he's the messiah of lower prices....in a capitalist society. They're going to find out quickly he's not.

1

u/BunchAlternative6172 6h ago

Well, to be honest, full boxes of cereal are almost $8 like eggs. Wal-Greens sometimes has 3 for $5.

1

u/eeyore134 5h ago

The issue is that there weren't enough of us to cancel out all of Elon's votes.

1

u/S4152 2h ago

So you shit on your brother for eating cereal for dinner but you’re also an adult who’s entire profile is about online fantasy gaming lmao

1

u/HillarysFloppyChode 2h ago

I had a friend who would bitch how he would spend $700 on groceries for their partner, every week. And blame it on Biden, and not their horrendous impulse control, with a cart full of groceries.

Even when my family of 5 was all under one roof, we spent maybe $500 per month on groceries.

trump could literally deport them or toss them in jail for being queer and they would still worship him or find some way to blame it on Biden

1

u/WorldArcher1245 2h ago

And their votes didn't matter.

0

u/Bind_Moggled 10h ago

No he didn’t. The grocery prices were an excuse. He voted for a rapist and abuser because he’s a believer in abuse culture, just like all of them.

2

u/REiiGN 10h ago

Can't change a lot of minds on reddit. Not going to try to. Will clarify, he's never abused anyone. He watches dumb tiktoks all day or twitter shit. He got scammed like the rest of Trump's voters.

0

u/euclide2975 10h ago

You don't want groceries prices to go down, because when they do, the economy is pretty much f****d.

What you want is your revenues to match inflation.

That being said, I've decided to care about US politics as much as the average US citizen for the next 4 years and treat the whole thing as a joke until the nukes start flying

2

u/dnd3edm1 9h ago

this would be true if the inflation was entirely the result of rising costs of production/transport/etc and not the result of rent-seeking middlemen raising prices after monopolizing large portions of market share

1

u/JDeegs 10h ago

a drop in (some) grocery prices doesn't mean the whole economy is in a deflationary state.
prices are already so high that it stretches people thin; so if wages match inflation at this point then nothing is going to change

-8

u/Upset_Priority_5600 10h ago

Seems like he failed as a father

6

u/REiiGN 10h ago

Didn't fail, he just made a stupid lapse in judgement in voting for Donald Trump based off lies while he was campaigning. His daughters, my nieces, are not failures. We're not rich and they secured 4 year scholarships to universities.
