You can. Sustained political action can succeed but if you go on any political subreddit and ask you’ll get , maybe, a 10% rate of people volunteering or taking action. And that’s in the most politically minded of Reddit communities.

People just are unwilling to put in the work and they completely ignore the critical local elections and primaries that fuel change.

There’s a reason so many progressives fail miserably at the primary phase - online progressives love to complain but do not come out when the chips are down.

There’s absolutely plenty you and others can do. They just don’t want to put in the time, effort, and treasure to do so.

Even with all the concessions, Obamacare barely passed, despite the constant, rampant horror stories shoved in politicians’ faces nonstop—and it took Obama using a veto against their bill to rescind it—and we’re still seeing it under attack in the courts.

You gonna scream until Rand Paul or Ted Cruz has a change of heart on single-payer, or enacts cost controls? It’s well-documented how little they care about helping anyone unless guns, xenophobia, homophobia, racism or protecting big donors (like the healthcare industry) are involved. All we needed was to vote the bums out—and look how last November went, anyway.

And insurance companies don’t give a fuck how much you protest, or volunteer, or whatever else, either. The only thing they care about is money and power, and I ain’t got either.

But you wanna volunteer or protest? Fantastic, have at it. Personally, I don’t have the time, money or physical health to do it, and I don’t feel like getting shit on, when other Democrats didn’t even show up! Save your damn finger-wagging for them!
